Great barber shop. Just finished an appointment today. I've gone there maybe 5 or 6 times in the past few months and gotten great haircuts each time (from Mike and Dmitry). There are a thousand barber shops in this area, but I don't go anywhere else now. These guys really know how to take care of customers. I book online and it's great--no waiting. But they take walk-ins and seem to be able to accommodate them most of the time from what I've seen. Great professionalism and courtesy--they make you feel like a regular even if you're new to the place. read more

Mike does an awesome job and is chill as hell. The appointment system on the website is super easy. Go with confidence!

Don't go if you have longer hair. We discussed a clean up and slight trim on top. Left with about 4.5 inches of hair gone with no warning. By the time i realized how much he was taking off it was too late and just had to let him finish. The cut truthfully came out good, but unacceptable to take that much hair without making sure the client is okay with it. This is what i get for saving a few dollars. read more

Dmitry always takes time to give you the best quality cut. A real pro. I highly recommend this place if you need a great barber.

New Ownership & Quality has Improved! I have been TWICE in 3 months and recommend to anyone looking for a Great barber in the Midtown East AREA. Price is cheap. 20.00 a haircut and a great experience. The barber can cut any hair and does it finesse! He is the real deal, you can tell he is destined for great things! I will keep returning because I have yet to find a better Barber in the city and I've been around looking for one. The barber takes his time and makes sure you are satisfied with your hair and goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable! Please give the shop a try and tell your friends!!! I'll be back soon, nick read more

This is place is a gem and Mike is the only guy in I trust. This is an old school no BS NYC barber shop with a lot of classic charm, but modern cuts. Also the prices are crazy reasonable, especially considering how good Mike is. He listens but also understands hair and what cuts will work with a clients hair and face. Immaculate fades every time. read more

My boyfriend got a great haircut from here (after trying around 5 other places in the city) and this was definitely the best cut and the most professional. Highly recommend and decent prices. read more

I have been a regular customer of 3rd Ave Barbers for the past 4.5 years but I had to make a change. I simply couldn't handle them always changing prices on me. It wasn't that the price was too high necessarily (though their price increase over the period certainly didn't match inflation and the slow rising costs of business in the city) but that every 3 months I had to ask how much it was when it came time to pay. I get it, people have to raise their prices. But part of being a good business owner is being able to properly price your goods and services and having some semblance of consistency. As a regular customer you come to expect a certain level of familiarity and price is part of that. Raising your price every couple months by $2 drives customers mad. At the end of the day between 2015-2019 the price went from $18 to (I think) the current price of $34, going up in increments of $2 every 3 or 4 months. As I digress, I decided to take my patronage to Barbers on 25th. Walked in on a Tues around 6:30 and their was no wait. Mike greeted me as I walked in and took me right away. Mike chatted me up the whole time and was a pretty funny guy. He was super open to whatever cut I wanted and since I'm a new customer stopped intermitently to ask me if I liked the way he was cutting my hair, which I appreciated. Throughout the cut various customers walked in and he seemed to know all of them by name, which is always a good sign. At the end of the day he gave me a great cut. He made sure to hand me a loyalty card and seemed to very much appreciate my business. Even though they are relatively new in town (open since 2018) I wish I had started coming to this place the day it opened. I will definitely be back. read more

Excellent #barberson25th do an amazing job. Have a nice cold one while you get your haircut, never feel rushed through to get to the next customer. The new owner Mike makes sure you are well taken care of and completely satisfied. My second cut and shave from mike and I couldn't recommend them more.. read more

Do NOT go to this barbershop. I went to this barbershop few weeks ago. Person who cut my hair his name is Mike. Mike is very inappropriate, disrespectful and quite frankly corny. While cutting my hair he made a lot of inappropriate comments and insults twoards Gay and Lesbians. At one point, he started to act as if he is gay, I felt as if he is mocking me. This guy thinks he is a comedian with disrespectful comments. Aside for his inappropriate and racist behavior, he is bad barber. He cut my hair uneven on both sides. Its a very simple haircut nothing extra. I had to go to another barber the next day to fix up my haircut. not happy with their service and treatment. WILL NOT RECEOMED TO ANYONE. If you have an alternative option, go to someone else instead. Do NOT let Mike butcher your hair and destroy your image. UPDATE 11/23/2022: My review is HONEST. YOU should own up to your actions read more

My 3 year old desperately needed a good cut and we decided to give this place a shot. My review: CUSTOMER SERVICE: 5 stars Amazing. I was solo with 2 kids and a double stroller and they even carried the stroller up the stairs for me. THE CUT: 5 stars Incredible! For some reason my son has been looking like a mop head every time we get his hair cut but Joseph (barber) took his time, didn't rush the cut, and made it look great. Also, at one point my son kept moving his head mid-cut, so Mike jumped in to help hold his head steady. MISC: They take credit card, are open every day except Saturday, and the nicest guys. Will definitely be returning here on the regular. read more

I have very high standards for a barber shop because my hair is quite thick and naturally wavy, and I like to keep it short (I also don't like to make appointments, and do like to pay with a credit card, and I like when they're open seven days a week)... so when I walk out of a haircut it may look fine, but then after a week or ten days it might grow back all wrong and make me look like a slob. I judge a barber less on his ability to make me look like I just got a haircut, which pretty much they can all do, and more on his ability to keep my hair looking right even between haircuts, which is a rare skill - and the best among them can even extend the length of time that I need to go between haircuts. Mike is one of the best barbers, if not the very best, that I've ever tried - and over the course of 2018 I tried every sub-$50 barber within a mile of East 25th Street, often multiple times. He is one of only a very few barbers to whom I have ever been loyal in nearly four decades of having hair and needing to get it cut regularly, because he has more than earned it. And it's difficult to believe that there aren't a ton of five star reviews here already, but I guess since the management changed recently, they might have intentionally gotten rid of some of the reviews for the team that was in charge before. If you are a man, or perhaps not a man but have a men's hairstyle, and you're looking for a barber in New York City, I very highly recommend this place. If you got your hair cut at the same location some time before and it wasn't perfect, note that there's new ownership, so you'll likely be pleasantly surprised when you return. Even if I couldn't walk to it from my apartment, I'd still take the subway to it, because other barbers just aren't as good. read more

The best all around experience for a men's haircut. Mike makes you feel like you have known him for 20 years the second you walk in. He has drinks to offer, great conversation and most importantly, he is a great barber. He cuts exactly how I want and gets the perfect fade. Highly recommend this guy! read more

Place seemed okay until my hair cut didn't go as planned. During the end when it was time to shape the edges and shave. He didn't use any hot towel didn't have his own shaving cream. Which caused various cuts around my face. He then ask if I would like to shave at home? REALLY???? I went to a barber because I don't know how to shave very well. I was expecting the normal cut and shave. Nice people horrible experience when a barber doesn't have supply's and cause many razor cuts. read more

Came in for a shave- barber had very little bedside manner and was not too friendly. After I said I have sensitive skin he for some reason decide to shave my neck with a razor with no shaving cream or water- completely dry and against the grain. My skin obviously started bleeding to which he carried on then did no aftershave or anything. Just strange read more

My boyfriend went to Barbers on 25th today, Sept. 2020. The cut was $24 + tip. You make your appointment through Instagram. It's @barberson25th. It's a very pleasant experience, and the barber was very nice. It includes a hot towel. The barber helped discuss the cut and then gave my boyfriend exactly what he wanted. You also get a punch card. Your 10th haircut is free. Note: not open on Saturdays. read more

I got my haircut here a few days ago. Friendly barber shop and Dimitry did a nice job. He did exactly what I wanted, recommend him.

Went to this barbershop today. Mike is excellent at his job and it is obvious to anyone who shows up. He's very attentive and thorough. I got exactly what I needed. I couldn't be happier with my haircut - probably one of the best haircuts I've had in 10 years! I will definitely be returning here. I would unflinchingly recommend Mike to any one for a haircut. Great price and very high quality work! read more

I am very hesitant person when it comes to try a new barber shop but this one made me feel like I've been going there for years. No doubt the quality of their work is worth more than their prices when you consider other barber shops in the city with inflated prices. But I left this barber shop very satisfied and definitely I'm going to visit here again. read more

Great barber shop. Clean, polite, professional and most importantly good haircuts and conversation while you're in the chair.

If you live in Gramercy/Kips Bay area and need a haircut, this is the spot. Ask for Mike. He knows what he's doing with your hair whether it be cut/fade/trim/shave. Tell him what style you want and he'll deliver it. Mike is patient and takes his time to get it right even if there's a line. Never in a rush. I've been going here for many times and always walk out happy. read more

I have been going to Barbers on 25th since it opened and I have never had a bad experience in Mike's chair. He takes his time with every customer. He understands how to do many different types of cuts and he uses the best clippers around. The atmosphere is fun and he is a really nice and genuine person. Grab a complimentary bottle of water and buy a chocolate bar and enjoy the experience of his hair cuts. He also does a killer hot shave. read more

I've been coming to this barber shop for a year now. Mike, the owner, provides consistent haircuts that are always on point. He is meticulous and extremely personable. He has reasonable prices compared to others in the area and always takes his time to ensure it's perfect. Highly recommended!! read more

I recently moved to Manhattan and tried a bunch of different barbers in the Flatiron/Gramercy area; I only stopped looking once I tried Barbers on 25th. Mike is very attentive to my requests and extremely detail oriented. Quality haircut at a great price. read more

Mike does a fantastic job. He's super friendly, knows his way around some scissors, and doesn't charge you an arm and a leg to get it done. I live on the block right behind Barbers on 25th and never knew they existed. After my old barber retired (I hope), I found myself looking on Yelp for a new one. I had tried a few with mixed reviews. One guy knew what he was doing, but raised his prices by $10. So that ended that. One guy was okay, but had no respect for people or their time, so that ended that. One guy used thinning scissors on my hair and really messed it up (probably the only really bad hair cut I've had in 30+ years). Then there was Mike. Mike runs a small shop tucked away towards the end of 25th and 2nd. I reached out to him through Yelp and he responded almost immediately. Later that day I came in and got my hair cut really well just in time for an interview. The one thing that I will say is that he's not the barber you walk into and walk out of in 5 minutes. Some guys want that, but that's not the case here. Mike will take his time (he's still quick) and he'll do it right the first time. I think he said it best "If I cut your hair poorly you'll never come back, doesn't matter if it's the first or tenth time". I haven't had a chance to come back yet, though I am planning on coming back next week before I start my new position. I have, however, sent over some friends to get their hair cut in the meanwhile. I plan to keep going back to Barbers on 25th for a long while, as long as I'm living in the area. Super happy I found him here. As my old, old barber who I hope is still alive and just living life in retirement once said, "you don't cheat on your woman and you don't cheat on your barber." read more

Awesome place to get a haircut, and I'm stoked I found it! I recently moved to NYC from SF and am temporarily living in the Gramercy area, and desperately needed a good cut. I found these guys and decided to give it a shot and am very glad I did! I made an appointment online with Roman, and he gave me a great cut and was super friendly. The price point at $24 is very reasonable, and though I'll be moving out of the area soon to West Village, I'll probably be making the trip back to Gramercy just to get another cut from Roman. Thanks guys! read more

Best haircut I've had in years. I sat down and they cut my hair and did a great job. I don't know how they did to my hair what they did. I haven't seen my hair look this good ever I think. My hair looks really nice and at a really good price. 100% recommend. read more

Mike and Roman do an excellent job. I highly recommend. Reasonably priced and high quality.

I've been coming here for my haircuts since college before the new managements took over and the new managements level of quality is going to make me keep up that tradition. I love the time and effort they put into their haircuts and beard work. Also shahs key is that they don't just do the Banking haircut they also do the Brooklyn caesar lol. If you want a low key spot to get a great haircut with friendly barbers this is the place. read more

Came in for a cut, and I was able to get a chair without any waiting time. Joseph gave me exactly what I asked for--a high skin fade and a slight trim on top, and the finished result looked great. My friend got his hair cut by Mike, and his fade and overall cut was also great. All the staff here is friendly and relaxed. I'd highly recommend this cut, especially because of their ability to deliver such high quality results at an inexpensive price. read more

I walked in on a Sunday after getting an indifferent vibe from another neighborhood barber. I'm so glad I did! The barber (sorry I don't remember his name) was friendly, easygoing, and most of all listened to how I wanted my hair cut. I'm a middle aged guy and wanted a conservative cut - the guy in the chair before me was 20ish and got something a little more creative. The barber chuckled and put me at ease and let me know he would cut my hair how I wanted. He took his time and gave me a great haircut. I'll definitely be back. read more

Great and quick service!! Mike takes his time with his clients! Definitely recommend and will be coming back.

Another great cut! Consistent, considerate, and clean. I'll be back again

If this place was in New Jersey i would still travel that distance to have this haircut. Quality Cuts from a guy who knows it best.

Roman gave me an excellent haircut and was such a pleasure to have! Man was working on his birthday all day. If that is not a dedicated barber, then I don't know what is! He gave me an excellent cut that matched the picture that I showed him. I left happy with the service and the cut. Thanks again Roman! read more

Tried at least 5 places around midtown before I found this one. Mikes a nice guy - just bought the place and redid it. His prices are the best in the area. Said he's been cutting hair since he was 13 and the quality shows! Free beer on top can't hurt either. I go back every month now! read more

I have been to so many barber shops here in manhattan and all of them have disappointed me. Ever since Mike took ownership of this location, that all changed for me. I finally found a barber that listened to what I wanted and recommend what he thought would look good and performed excellently. I am extremely particular of the way my hair is faded and cut and Mike executes it perfectly. Besides his awesome service, his prices are amazing. Very affordable spot. I am here every 2 weeks and I highly recommend you go to him as well! read more
