Don't recommend unless it's for a child's haircut. Pros: -friendly staff -walk ins accepted -great with kids Cons: -rushed service -not all barbers seem to be able to accept all forms of payment? (See below) -Staff appear very disorganized -some barbers are providing subpar work/still in training -basically a remodeled hip Supercuts Despite the looks, it's overall a retro designed Supercuts or great clips. I went in as a walk-in after work on 8 September and really needed to get a haircut. I'm brand new to Bellingham and decided to give this establishment a shot since they were the only ones that would take me on short notice. I sat down for roughly an hour as a walk-in which is fine and expected. However, the haircut service is ghastly rushed, with people being rotated in and out within 30 minutes. One of the barbers appeared to be training still and may have potentially messed up during her haircut. She required another barber's help who had to stop cutting a client's hair to fix and train on the situation. Also, it appears not all barbers are able to accept all forms of payment as one required cash because they didn't have a card reader?? During my wait another customer came in with her son I assume. They had an issue where they called ahead at 2 to book and appointment for 5:30. When they arrive to the shop, their appointment was not scheduled by the barber who received the call. That barber also left for the day which may the situation harder to solve at the time. The two ended up waiting longer than anticipated to be serviced and it seemed to take the staff awhile to rectify the situation. Finally it was my turn for a haircut. I sit down in the seat greeted by a nice barber who came in to help. I showed her a picture of my usual haircut and explained how I wanted a low bald drop fade on the sides with the hair long on top and a little bulk on the upper sides. What I ended up getting was a high and tight with the short length of the sides even going up into my scalp a little. Luckily I was turned around to see before any more damaged could be done. It was so disappointing to wait for so long just to get a haircut I didn't ask for. I now have a High & tight haircut for the sides with long hair on top of my head. Who knows how long I'll have to wait for it to grow out before I can attempt to fix it again. The only saving grace was the barber was super apologetic and didn't charge me. I went home highly upset after a long work day. Overall, avoid this place for your own hair. Find a real barber shop that will spend an hour providing you a quality cut, listening to you, and reviewing reference photos to give you what you want. This place is great for a child's typical haircut and nothing more I'd say. read more

I just had the worst hair cut and hair cutting experience of my life. I had Sherry cut my hair and within the first five minutes I found out she hates Jay inslee and is apparently quite angry about the mask rules. She referred to him as "YOUR governor" and then told me how she just moved here from California to get away from Newsom. She also went on to tell me all about having been a previous drug addict and showed me scars on her belly from surgeries she has had in the past. Which was all extremely unprofessional and not information I had asked about. What REALLY made me angry was the fact that her mask kept falling off her nose and then she TOOK MY MASK OFF without asking for my permission, shook out the hair, put it back on me and then patted my mouth. She mentioned during my haircut that what she is most comfortable with is doing a 3" all around the head. I couldn't see the haircut I was getting because the chairs face away from the mirror, but when she turned me around and showed me she completely butchered my hair. I had asked for an undercut, I had come in with a grown out undercut and I showed her a picture of the undercut I wanted. Instead, I left with an almost entirely buzzed head except for a patch of crooked hair on the very top. There are no layers, there is no definition. It's bad to the point that I just going to have to shave it all off and start again. Lastly, she charged me for a women's hair cut when I have always been charged for a mans haircut as I have very short hair. I have been to the Barber Shack before and received great haircuts from Beth and Art. I am extremely disappointed with the haircut, and I don't even want to go back in there because I feel very unsafe there due to COVID and the way that was handled. read more

I'm a little sad to have to do this, particularly at this point in time. I previous wrote a 5 star review for them. It's a cool place, they play fun music, usually (but not always) I've been happy with my cut. The main issue. There are signs that customers/staff are required to wear masks, per state law, but this seems very loosely enforced. I was in there this week and it seemed like customers were more strictly adhering to it than staff, who wore masks without it covering their nose, several at times took them off inside the building. I noticed maybe halfway through my own haircut that my barber had his not covering his nose as well. In addition he had (I assume his kid) there, who was not wearing one. To be somewhat fair they had windows open and fans, but that's not a replacement for normal regulated mask use. And I figure a business like that should be more concerned with masks/safety protocol than some chump like me. read more

first of all its was a vivid Saturday afternoon I came to b's we went in on a not so busy day I sat down they called me and I got "mullet master" Heidi what a disgrace. I've been to b's for years I've been a loyal member since 2021. 4 haircuts ago I got Heidi for the first time it was horrible it was like she wasn't listening sloppy and just laughed me off. I was very mad. so when i got her again i was furious and i sat down. asked for a low taper fade and a little off the top ( 0.5 inches of the top ) and my fringe to the eyebrows simple somehow she figured out how to mess it. I enjoyed the Barber Shack ambience of the Barber Shack!! It's nice and fun!! I loved Jared because he would keep asking how I liked my hair... He would cut measure check the eveness.. Then ask if I would like more off?? And so on until it was just what "I" wanted... Not what he wanted... I loved how I showed Jared a picture from Pintrest and recreated the idea with a twist!!
