I found this place almost 5 years ago after the girl I had coming over to my home to do my hair moved 2 hrs awayI Now, for almost 5 years I have used the same person at Personal Touch EVERY time, her name is Chan, she's very soft spoken and she does exactly as I have asked. My hair very fast growing and I'be had her do my hair while it was quite long and when my job closed and I was job hunting, I have had her do my hair much shorter and she always does a GREAT JOB!!! I'm currently 56 yrs old and for some reason my hair has naturally changed, it has winged out, it has curled in spots not expected and other scenarios and Chan always listens to the issues I'm dealing with and how I would like it done. Then I will usually say, "you're the expert, not me, you know what I'm looking for and I'll let you do your thing" and she has never disappointed me! (I'm very picky about my hair, so hard for me to let anyone touch it) I'm so glad that I found Chan as my hair stylist! I won't go anywhere else!!! I have seen a wide range of customers, from women getting a wide range of styles done for all age groups, to young kids, to men in their retirement years. The other customers I have seen over the past 4 to 5 years always seem happy or at least content with what they had done, for me I've always have been thrilled. Also, not really needed for me, but I do hear many other stylists in Personal Touch speaking fluent Spanish if that's your language. This place is currently in the Stop & Shop Newburgh Towne Center off of Route 300 (it was formerly in Newburgh Mall up until earlier in 2024). I believe they open 6 days a week at 10am, they're open Sundays too, but I believe it's 11am (not sure if I'm correct but I believe so) As long as Chan is at this establishment, it will Always be 5 Stars in my opinion! Chan's the Best! If there's anything negative to say, if they're closed and you want to call and leave a message like, you want to make an appointment or that you'll be stopping by, it's almost impossible to leave a message. The answering machine will say, "if you would like to leave a message for anyone, to enter their phone number", so unless you know it, you can't leave a message, but that's the only negative I have.

I've been there 3 times now, and it all depends on who you'll get…read more My first time was an awesome experience, as I had a talented African American student who seemed passionate about his craft and provided an excellent haircut for $5 and with a beard trim and tip my total was $10. What a good deal! My second time was with a tall white gentleman with a purple mohawk, who while providing an excellent service and a great haircut, was not a student barber. This meant that I needed to pay full price which was around $20 to $25 for a haircut and beard trim, and with a tip, it came out to $30. Pricey! My 3rd and most recent time was a haircut performed by a barber who was somewhere between a fresh student and a experienced professional. He was a young Latino fellow who at the time seemed to be in a hurry to eat lunch. Unfortunately, this meant that it was easier to make mistakes and I ended up bleeding profusely in several areas when the barber used his single blade razor to shave my neck and upper cheeks. Fortunately, he was a nice guy. He apologized and refused to accept payment (i.e. I got a free "haircut"), and even offered me a free towel. In terms of ambiance, this place has a constant flow of customers coming in, and it has an interesting set of articles and pictures on the walls along with a TV playing music to keep you entertained while you wait. Ultimately, the good and the bad all kind of even out, and this place receives an average score of 3/5 in my opinion.

I'm 42 years old and get my hair cut monthly so you do the math. A lot of haircuts and this was by far the worst cut I've ever gotten. Uneven fade and different lengths all over. And that's after fixing the huge section that was cut out when she grabbed the wrong shears. Horrible! Not to mention there was hair all over her stand, shears and clippers from the start. The barber in the first chair may resemble the perfect blend of a Bond villain and Nacho Libre. He is quite articulate and well- spoken. The other barber or often referred to as "the old barber" is also an excellent barber as well. With the many years of wisdom behind him , I felt like he was my very own Puerto Rican Mr. Miyagi!
