This place is amazing! I moved to San Antonio a couple of months ago and have been trying to find a good barber shop. My first stop was "High End Barbershop" in Stone Oak. I was not impressed with the atmosphere, my barber or the crazy price they charged for a dry haircut. I don't know anyone here so I'm having to go off of websites and reviews. I searched "barber shop" in my Maps app to see what was somewhat close to my house and Barber 281 popped up. They had good reviews and a nice menu of services. I called and Yvette answered the phone. She was able to get me in with her the same day. I am so happy I found this place. It's a very cozy, clean and welcoming atmosphere. I went with the Rangers haircut and I was blown away with what type of service I got for only $37. Yvette was very knowledgeable, experienced and extremely kind. She gave me a great hair cut with razor touch up, hair wash & conditioner, warm towel with two separate scalp massages, neck/shoulder massage, great moisturizer on the back of my neck and head AND even styled my hair! Barber 281 is my new barbershop and Yvette is the new barber for myself and my 12yr old son. Thanks for such a great experience and haircut! read more

I rarely ever go to a barber, the wife cuts my hair. She is unable at this time so I had to find a barber...fast. I am used to the old style barber shops where the old retired Marine with hula girls tattooed on their forearms cut your hair and tell you dumb or dirty jokes. Well not really but you get the idea. This is a new experience for me, a salon thing, even though they say they are a barber shop. They have 4 chairs and the barbers/stylists? are all ladies. They also work with ladies hair. To me this is pretty fancy. They offer a lot of services, hot towels, scalp massage, and other things I forget at the moment. They even offered me a beer (or water). Apparently a beer has become expected. Who knew? They have different levels of services when you come in for a haircut and they all go upward in price. It's quite a bit more than what I am used to paying. The young lady that cut my hair, Adelaida, obviously knew her stuff. She took a lot of care with the mess I had on my head and ultimately did a great job. I have a feeling the wife will make me go there regularly it looked so good. read more

Great local barber shop and excellent service. Be sure to call first to make an appointment as this isn't a "walk-in" type of place. Coco (who now has a new regular customer) was very friendly, engaged in effortless conversation and took the time to ask me what I wanted and did just that. This is not a "Great Clips" nor does it pretend to be and that is a good thing. I intend to be a customer as long as the service remains consistent. We loved our experience at Barber 281! My husband gets his hair cut here and we took our son to get his first hair cut. Kim was awesome and so very patient with my son. She let him feel the electric razor which he loved. It was so cute to watch him look like a little man getting his hair cut. The facility had a very old Texas feel and was very clean. I will never go into this place again. Literally walked in with my kids to get there haircuts and sat there for an hr before of the the girls asked if we had an appointment. This was right @ 7 pm when I was asked or even acknowledged there. This barbershop is small and probably has the usual customers so your figure if you see new people you greet them and ask them if they have an appointment. Totally disappointed!!!!! read more
