He was always there to assist me in my practice caring for my patients, and is one of the hardest working and always available physicians I known. In the many years he has practiced in Oakhurst he has worked for several medical groups, some of which have had serious management problems (CMP especially), but Dr Schaffer has always been there for the people of this community. Dr. Tais is not the "regular" doctor who spends 5…read moreminutes with you and all they care is to see good numbers no matter what they would prescribe you. The first appointment is ONE HOUR long. She goes through everything and will ask for blood works you never heard before. She evaluates the WHOLE thing and not just what the pharmaceutical companies make money off. The follow ups are 30 minutes long. She does not see 40/50 patients a day spending 5 minutes each. It is a bummer that she does not accept insurance, but in other hand, no insurance will give her a hard time. More than once my regular doctor told me he could not ask for this or that because the insurance would not pay for. We love Dr. Tais.

And forget about trying to ask your doc a quick question via phone or email like most other 21st century docs. It's why I haven't gone in a couple of years. Pam Rico is very attentive, patient, happy to give me the level of explanation/consultation I seek (i.e.; I know some people just want to be given a pill and let loose rather than learn about what's ailing them). I really hope either they can make their front desk less draconian or Pam Rico finds a friendlier office to work for, because she deserves better.

However, unfortunately I had to get by the front desk staff to get to them. I have managed dental offices for many years. I am seasoned on both sides of that counter. You are not required by law to Love people if you are forced to work with them, but at the very least do have the common decency to look them in the eye and avoid being terse or sarcastic. I honestly felt sick just sitting in that waiting room in such a dismissive atmosphere. I do hope it is something they will work on for the benefit of all.

So I'm overhere, filled out about 10 pages of paperwork asking if I was a DNR, how many sexual partners I've had, my work history, and only to be told I can be seen 245 bare minimum for a 115 appointment because the doctor is on lunch. I'll update as I get the appointment. I would think the fact I've been having chest pain that the doctor would have seen me sooner. So Dr. Sharrar seen me and Medical assistant Alan. Both were kind, compassionate and positive I'm healthy as everything shows up OK. EKG in one month and blood work. Ugh.

But, it is hard to see this when you are yelled at from the office manager. Know of many people in our community who have left the practice due to her unprofessionalism. Final straw was waiting a referral for a specialist that she did not seem to feel was urgent enough to take care of in a timely manner. Was told "I have a lot of responsibilities around here, and sometimes referrals are not at the top of my priority list".
