However, as time has worn on, it seems like the true colors of the school has shown themselves. The owners of the School (in particular Jill) seems to be all about the money. I don't understand how they can justify increasing the costs each & every single year (when they already charge an arm and a leg for tuition across the board) & they say it's due to them losing their talented teachers to the local Public Schools. Jill thinks throwing more & more money at the Teachers will make them want to stay at Goddard. I think the reality is why don't you create a better culture and focus more on the environment for the Teachers to be happy in. They even created a Kindergarten program for the first time this year. Instead of the classroom being located inside of the building, they added a Trailer outside of the building next to the Playground. It seemed as though the class was totally separate from the School itself (literally & figuratively). There were also many times throughout the year when we received conflicting messages/emails between the Goddard School & the Kindergarten classroom on different activities & events. At times, this caused us confusion and many emails/phone calls to the school to determine what was really going on. They embraced our little granddaughter and the responsibility for her learning care with all the gusto we could hope for in those charged with caring for her for a significant part of her day. Now five, she gets up each day knowing and excited that something new and different awaits her. Learning is everywhere and concern for her well being is front and center. Be it their attentiveness to her numerous allergies or their proactive eye towards seeing that she is in the right level and with the right classmates so that she continues to be challenged, the school is a great fit for our always curious grand baby. An added bonus has been the daily sharing by email of her progress as she navigates a balance of guided work and learning play that the curriculum affords each student. I'm confident she has been well served and will be more than kindergarten ready in the fall, but her time at Goddard will not have ended there. Being just steps away from her new primary school, we will be taking advantage of Goddard's before and after care program giving us the reassurance that she has a safe and nurturing place to get homework out of the way and be with friends until we come to collect her. The center provides care from 3 months until they are ready to go off to kindergarten. It is NAEYC certified, and provides lots of enrichment for the kids. It sometimes makes me sad that my daughter spends more time with her teachers than with me (at least, more hours awake) but they fill her day with so many activities that I don't think I would be able to manage at home. Great, responsive, caring staff in a bright, clean, and safe environment. We get pictures every day of what she was doing. I believe this is one of the best daycare centers in the area.

Rock Spring administration handled those challenges with grace, transparency and leadership. I've sent both of my kids there, and have grown very attached to many of the teachers. Now my older child is there for before and after care from a local elementary school, and the time he spends playing with other children at Rock Spring seems like a highlight of his days. The infant rooms are full of compassionate caregivers who treat my child like family, relishing in each new skill and milestone. I have spoken highly of Rock Spring to many friends, and asked them to take tours, and the ones who have seen it in person have agreed with my assessment and enrolled their own children. Please consider Rock Spring if you value a high teacher to child ratio, an engaging curriculum for all ages, accommodating administration, low teacher turnover and compassionate staff and teachers. Several centers seemed chaotic and disorganized, had staff that weren't trained and didn't promote developmental activities, or had poor communication. Maybe we have high expectations, but we wanted competent staff that were involved with our son beyond his basic needs, and a center that provided a nurturing environment for growth. Especially since the cost of daycare is so high in this area, we expected to have better quality childcare. The staff at Goddard is very caring, engaging, helpful, professional, and competent. The owner, Tracy, is great to work with and truly cares about making the center a great place for the children. The director, Mary Sue, is very caring and involved with the teachers and children in all of the classrooms. It was evident that our son's teachers, Erin, Vera, Tara, and Farrukh, were competent and caring staff who focus on the children's well being. Our son was far from being a model citizen - he had bad separation anxiety, cried a lot, and refused his bottles and naps at daycare. All of the staff, not just the immediate teachers, assisted with transitioning our son to the new environment, and they were open to trying anything and everything to make him comfortable and happy. The communication we received from them was thorough and frequent and we felt well informed of any issues on a daily basis. In addition to the staff being great, the learning program is designed with daily curriculums and our son is engaged in fun activities throughout the day. As an added bonus, the center uses the Tadpoles program technology to electronically send daily reports and pictures to our email and phone app. Overall our son is happier and more engaged at Goddard, and as parents we feel more comfortable knowing that he is being cared for by caring and competent staff.
