When I was visiting, there was a guy playing vinyls (not mixing at all though) really experimental tunes that kept heads turning. Great mix of people, young, old, mix of social class and education, pretty and ugly, everything together makes for great people watching. Drinks are cheap. Lots of fun around midnight. I still like the bar but now I have to plan for a little more drinking money.

The bar seats only about ten people, it was standing room only - but still felt comfortable to hang out at for a while. Everyone is too cool busy minding their own business to give a rat's ass. Foosball, darts, and pool are in the back and around the corner. Tables are everywhere. Everyone is friendly and perpetually in a good mood. Must be something in the leather and spikes. Or maybe the hair dye. Or maybe the great prices on shots of liquor. Beer prices are average, but the liquor prices are great. If you really love your punk and metal, and you're nice, you'll probably eventually get into a cool conversation with the bartenders about their first viewing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, comparing scuba diving notes, or debating the merits of early versus later albums from Bad Religion. Mirrors line the outer bar to give this place the feeling of a larger place inside. Add to that, this place's cheery music selection and you get a great vibe. Oddly enough for a place who's name means beer heaven there aren't too many beers on tap (Augustiner Lager and ... something else). Other than that it's mostly hard liquor composing of your standard Jim, Jack and of course Johnny. Totally matches the scene though but not a skevey place either. I would return.

If it was in NYC or Berlin or even my beloved Baltimore it would just be one bar playing punk-ish music and not a particularly rememberable one at that. The bar itself makes up a very small part of the overall place which limits the social atmosphere. This is particularly important to a solo drinker like me who looks like a cross between Travis Bickle and Joran Vandersloot. They really lost me as I finished my one beer. Music was ok. There was a Descendents song in there but most of it was what would show up on your Spotify "punk" playlist. Then they played some Rocket from the Crypt. Ok, I'm starting to buy back into this place. If the next song is good I will stay and have one more beer... Once I heard the opening chords of "Give it Away," by the Red Hot Chili Peppers I left. My advice: old school jukebox, let local artists do murals on the walls, and encourage stickering the place.

I need nothing more to give this hellhole four stars. Woulda been five, but for the weak mixed drinks. Ain't nobody got time for dat.
