For our first trip we tried a a Brazilian Imperial Stout from Schornstein and were impressed. It's not really an imperial stout, but it was far better than some of the other Brazilian stouts we've tried. Stop in, say hello to Bernardo, and grab some beers!

Lately I've been stopping by to pick up some Ballast Point Sculpin (they've even got the new Grapefruit Sculpin IPA). There's a refrigerator as well, which obviously has chilled beer, or you can pick any off the shelves. The people who work there are friendly and speak English so if you're able to read this you'll be able to get by OK. The only downside is that it is very expensive for just a bottle. However, they have several rare brews that I haven't found elsewhere in Rio.

Not only did they sell less beer, but they proved discriminatory based on appearances, lost two customers and earned this one star review. "Artisanal" comes from US microbreweries where clientele is earned through communal bonds, trust and friendship. This place is a rude caricature of this original movement. Portuguese: Atendentes preconceituosos fazendo distinção de classes com clientes. Pedimos para "provar" um IPA antes de escolher um litro. Nos foi servido um chope de 220ml invés de um uma prova. Momentos depois, outro cliente pediu uma prova e recebeu a prova em copinho descartável. Não só venderam menos cerveja, mas foram desonestos e preconceituosos. The raclette dog was definitely tastt, good quality linguiça and nice raclette torches at the table...but I wanted more cheese! Who doesn't right? I hear it's the secret to long life now! Staff recognized us and we're greeted friendly even though it had been early three months ago since we last stopped in! They have events on their Facebook page that show what other gatherings and social hours they have. Maybe we can convince them to post them on yelp too! We got our usually beers served win some delicious wasabi peas! They have plenty of seating and things to look at such as the art on the wall. They also sell some Jeffery t-shirts, 4 different designs. They have a nice two pack they sell which would make a nice gift to a beer lover. At R$10 a beer, it's a little cheaper then the grocery store (usually runs around R$12.50). If you are into art, they have rotating designs by local artists on the walls. Today the theme was woodwork. The artist says that humans have layers of skin, as complex as that of the bark of a tree. In the wood, there are carvings that reveal different themes and emotions. They will release a new beer in a couple of months so that should be incentive enough to come back and try it out.

That said, this place is great and lived up to my expectations, going in already believing that Jeffrey is Rio's best beer. At first it was just my wife and I and the bartender/curator/Jeffrey expert was incredibly friendly, even coming outside and inviting us in as we were debating grabbing a drink. Once we were in we were given a short tour of the place, including upstairs to see where the beer is brewed and to get a free sample of some of the other stuff they help brew there. We also got answers to any question we asked about both Jeffrey's past and its future. I can't wait to come back when there is an event to see Jeffrey at its full potential!

What I really appreciate about the place is there attentiveness to always grab another beer or ask us if we need one. When we first walked in we were able to be seated right away even though this place is very packed with people in the other simply amazed we were able to get a spot. This is my second time here and both times have been great I would highly recommend it to the other yelpers. The whiskey caskets they seep them in really intensifies the flavor. This has to be my favorite Noi beer, though it only comes in bottle, not on tap. We tried a variety of food as well, such as the bruschetta, chicken strips, salad and chicken sausage. The bruschetta is usually delicious and comes with several pieces which is great for sharing. The frango crocante, is like chicken strips with a sweet mustard sauce, which is also idea for sharing. The arugula salad was topped with a light dressing and sun-dried tomatoes with a fist-size of mozzarella (huge!) and a mound of Parmesan bread- very filling. The chicken sausage was a huge plate with the chicken sausage coiled under a pile of potatoes. It is only for the truly hungry! All the food was great and service was good too. Definitely will be back.
