Let me just preface this review by saying I love(d) Bar. It's been THE bar I take friends and family who are visiting from out of town. However, I'm literally never going back after my experience on Friday night (1/14). I was out with my boyfriend and two of our friends for dinner when we decided to hit up Bar because, like I said, I love(d) going there. My boyfriend and I, being the love birds we are, were slow dancing to "Baby it's Cold Outside" as one does. We were dancing in the corner, not causing a ruckus, when the bouncer stormed in from outside and started screaming how we were not allowed to dance. Both of us started laughing, clearly thinking the bouncer was being funny and making a joke, until he threatened to kick my boyfriend out for laughing, while telling us this was "strike one" and he'd be watching us for the rest of the night. It literally felt like we were in Beaumont, Illinois (watch Footloose for more info) except we were slow dancing, not doing the jitter bug. After that encounter, none of us wanted to stay so I went to the bar to get my tab. While waiting for the bartender, some guy looked at me and said "haven't seen you in a while" to which I responded "I literally have no idea who you are." He had his arm around some girl at the bar who seemed uncomfortable by the whole situation. This guy then put his hand on my lower back, so I pushed him off and said "get your f-ing hands off of me" to which he said "shut up you f-ing bitch." I literally wrote a note to the bartender as I signed my tab that said "this guy is creepy and please watch out for that girl." I immediately went to the bouncer who had just yelled at my boyfriend and I and explained what had just happened to me and to watch out for that girl. He got so defensive and rude, saying "do you think I'm stupid and I don't already have my eye on that guy and girl? I know how to do my job." He also said that until the girl told the bouncer that she felt uncomfortable, he wasn't going to do anything about it. I tried to explain again that the guy had just touched me inappropriately, that it made me uncomfortable, and called me a "f-ing bitch" but the Bouncer looked straight ahead in attempts to ignore me and stopped speaking to me all together. We left It literally felt like a situation from twilight zone when the bouncer yells and threatens to kick you out for slow dancing, and where the bouncer patently ignores your legitimate concerns of a situation of harassment. I will never go back. read more
