The bartenders that worked at the wedding were so friendly and nice (per my husband, they were also very cool and funny) and were so quick and efficient with their setup and their service throughout the wedding. Jonny put together a beautiful and delicious bar service. I am picky when it comes to alcohol, wine and beer especially, and Jonny totally understood my vision and executed everything excellently. For the wine, I told him the types of wine that I wanted (in this case, Rose, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir) and Jonny found excellent bottles for great prices. He also hooked things up with beer from one of Santa Barbara's breweries, which was very important to me. The signature cocktails were incredible, with everything made from scratch. I had to try everything because it was all so good, and the morning-after headache was totally worth it! My husband (and our guests) also couldn't stop talking about how good everything was. To be honest, I was initially hesitant about joining a bartending school; I had heard from others…read morethat what you get out of it, experience and knowledge-wise, wasn't worth the money, time, and effort. However, I definitely don't think that anymore. I am incredibly grateful I enrolled, despite what I had heard, and finished the course! Not only did I receive hands on experience by practicing in their mock bar, but I also was able to learn all types of cocktails, alcohol types, brands, and liqueurs etc quickly. For someone like me, I like to make sure I know how to do things before I get thrown into situations; learning as I go in a work setting can be nerve-wracking so I was very pleased to be able to build up confidence in my pours and counts before I started bartending events. For me, this type of training was imperative before attempting to work at a restaurant. NBS staff is knowledgeable as it gets when it comes to the craft. They're there to encourage and help you whenever you have questions while practicing, which has been helpful to me. They don't just teach you how to make drinks, but they also educate you on how to address customer service situations too (i.e. a very drunk customer and needing to cut them off). They touch all bases in this course. The lessons are very easy to take in and the class schedules are flexible to your own needs. You could finish the course in two weeks if you really put your mind to it, or you can take it slower like I did. Either way, I'm very happy with my decision to have gone to NBS. I've learned so much and now I have been working steadily for events for them! Don't let people tell you bartending school isn't worth it! It definitely is!
