Always nice and cosy. A great spot to chill out with friends or read a book over a wine or two.

Circus Bar & Night Club - Circus VIP booth

Ahh there are many fond memories from nights at Circus with the crew, following in true Melbourne…read morestyle the underground club plays a very good selection of dirty electro, techno and house music. They host regular Melbourne dj's as well as bringing in some internationals from time to time for their in house events. Circus Bar has recently undergone a hige refurbishment and the results are nothing short of impressive, spread across two levels Circus has the main room downstairs complete with rich red walls, chic circular booths and of course a decent dance floor. Upstairs is the balcony that has been fitted out in a way that resembles the beach bars in Miami. The balcony has a second bar as well as another dj booth and looks out over the top of Chapel Street and Commercial Road. Circus is open Thursday through Sunday and is available for both birthdays and private functions.

Has a very weird mixed crowd of people which you never would of thought existed. The venue is very nice looking and plays the exact same music as revolver as they both have the same resident DJs. The rooftop is beautiful but they do close some of it off for functions. The only negative points of the venue are the crowd (essentially the revolver rejects, me being one of them at the time ) and gets very overcrowded being a small venue. Only time I would visit is when everything else is shut as it closes around midday Monday. On the positive super friendly staff and security, great music and nice looking venue.

I give this place a 3.5 Star thanks YELP…read more Been there twice, first time was pretty cool. Some nice old school hip hop tracks which was a thumbs up from me. YAY world! Bar service was a bit slow and nobody smiled they all looked like they wanted to die. Bathroom was okay- had chunder all over the floor but thats standard. I also got elbowed in the eye by some asian chink- wasn't too impressed.. Standard. Anyways- I danced a bit on the table which was interesting. Uhm- The place has a smoking area... Thank the lord- thumbs up. Second time, was a friday night. Pretty empty around 11-12 but got busier later with weird people in suits. HOWEVER. The girl who was playing initially was pretty decent. Then it all changed when another chick come up with short shorts that went up her anus. Her music was TERRIBLE. Some poppy hip hop crap. Sucked balls. Thumbs down. A jug of beer is at a pretty good price though, it was only 18 bucks compared to the standard average of 26. YAY AGAIN! Fun place overall. Totally recommend it. It's really laxed and pretty trendy. There were a couple painters there that night doing some canvas work. COOL-

The venue is usually jammin' and has a pretty good crowd. Went to 'Danceteria' recently and the venue wad busy, upstairs offering deep ghetto beats and downstairs a little more 80's and retro. They do random events like open mic hip-hop which usually consists of white guys stoned out of their minds rhyming words that somehow string together into coherent sentences (sometimes that is).

Spent a week in Melbourne recently and was looking for a good place to party it up Jersey style on…read morea Friday night. Walked around Southbank for awhile and none of the bars really seemed to have anything going on, which was weird because the whole area seemed ripe for a grand ole time. Eventually made it all the way over the Crown casino, and I remembered Fusion was one of the places I had googled as a potential stop on my Melbourne bar/club hopping evening. Made my way over around midnight - very short line and $15 cover for boys and for girls. Not too bad, and despite the TSA style security (bouncer + they take everyone's picture as you walk in - what is this, customs?), I wandered on in. Inside the place is a lot smaller than I expected. There's two main levels - the bottom level had all the house music, and the dance floor was flanked by 2 bars (easy to get a drink, but apparently if you want shots after 1am you are out of luck. weird). House music was consistently good, even though the crowd was a bit sparse (although it picked up a little around 1am). Upstairs was a hip hop (current and 90's) room along with another bar. Equally sparse crowd, although this helped if you wanted to just stand by the balcony area and admire the crowd in the main room below. Honestly I could have gone either way with this review. The club didn't stand out in any way and I was wavering between a 3 and a 4. However, I upped it due to: a) pretty good light / laser system on the main floor b) DJ upstairs played "Pony" by Ginuwine c) when it comes down to it, I'd rather have more space to walk around in than less. 3.5 stars, rounded up. Good show Aussies

In my opinion Fusion is much preferable to Co. at The Crown in Melbourne. Instead of heading to…read moreyour left, make your way to the right and join a slightly younger crowd that's all about the dancing and not about the talking. You'll meet some interesting people here, a few men here on business that stand against the walls and watch, but you can always spot a gorgeous foreigner or two hanging around for a good time. The bar service was so good and speedy. And better yet, they know how to make a strong Long Island. They have two bars on either side of the club and they're both running on the busiest nights of the week. Last time I went was a little disappointing when it came to the girls to guys ratio, I felt surrounded and uncomfortable, so we snuck upstairs (to another bar) to lounge about with our cocktails. The best part is if you're staying in the Crown Complex (that is, the Crown Promenade, Crown Metropol or Crown Towers), then entry is free!

Catching up with a friend who works down this end of the city she suggested ms Collins ... I hadn't…read moreheard of it before and thought I'll give it a try. When I asked her where it was and she said the old Silk Road I was a little concerned as this has been a bit of a cougar haunt the last few times I'd been there. Never the less I was being a bit lazy and thought what the hell let's give it a go. Ms Collins resembles little of Silk Road the former opulent decor has been replaced with a focus on grungy shabby chic and r'n'b music rather than electro. The space is very dark and they have created graffiti on some of the walls and artwork. The space is large so it's primary focus is a nightclub but like Silk Road before it ms Collins likes to dabble in food The menu is extraordinary. In fact it's so good you wonder how it fits the venue. It has a range of international street food designed by top renowned chefs including jacques Raymond, Paul Wilson, Daniel Wilson and Ricardo momesso and an excellent range of deserts. I have to say I struggled with the rating. Service was a 2 - waitress tried to take our plates away while there was still food on them. Decor 2 - just seems confused Ambiance 3, food 4, desert - 5 it was exceptional. So weighing up the factors that are driving the business - drinking and atmosphere I gave the whole place a 3. Having said that I would come back for the food as it was delicious but you need to get in early before the night club scene kicks in.

Short version - visit if you like R&B…read more The space is bigger than it seems from the pictures, as the L-shaped layout means part of the place is out of view. Lots of places to sit and a dance floor that gets stickier as the night goes on - people come here to dance first and foremost. If you want to hang out by the bar, be careful - one guy backed into the stairs in front of it and fell, hitting his head pretty hard. He popped back up, but trust me, you don't want that to happen to you, and they aren't that visible in the dark. They market themselves as the place for RNB in Melbourne. This category of music is wide ranging, and includes multiple US genres.. hip hop, R&B, a little house music, and even some bachata was on the playlist last Saturday. There are a few places to sit - they could work for table service, but it seems unnecessary here. The prices seemed to be in line with everywhere else, and being Melbourne means that it is open late. Regardless of your gender, bring a female friend to dance with - the music seems to attract more men than women so the ratio is a bit skewed. If you want to hear some artists of color (plus Eminem and Macklemore) this is a good move.
