Parking on premises is very close, so it was always easy to load/unload, the yard outside is perfect for letting your dog out for a walk in the mornings and evenings, and the rooms were on the small side but cozy. It was like renting a small apartment for the three days we were there. We didn't expect anything above and beyond in terms of amenities, so don't expect a 4-star hotel at this place. It's a great, dog-friendly place with free parking, at a rate that's very affordable. To those with issues about the state of the dog-friendly annexes (the only place on premises you can stay with a dog), we found it clean and presentable. The ceilings look like they had recently had a new facade put over them to cover some of the more unsightly stains found in a previous Yelp review, but we didn't mind. As a plus, our puppy scratched off a few speckles of paint off of the front door when my wife went outside for 3 minutes to move the car. Upon checkout we asked Tim (who seems to own the place) how much we owed for the damage. When he asked how bad the damage was and heard it was just superficial, he thanked us very genuinely for letting him know instead of slipping out without mentioning it and said there'd be no extra charge for the damage. (Though I will admit, the paint on the door was pretty shoddy and cheap that it came off so easily, but it's not anything that detracted from our stay) Long story short, if you're looking for a no-frills, functional place to stay that allows dogs, has free and accessible parking, and is priced reasonably, this is it. Location is a 10-15 minute walk to Main Street, but we had a car, so it wasn't an issue.

The location is perfectly situated within a short drive to Acadia and walking distance to restaurants and shops in Bar Harbor. The rooms in the annex building were recently renovated and were very clean and comfortable. Thank you Tim and Danielle for a wonderful stay, we will definitely be back!!

Pros: -Skilled professionals; my haircut was exactly what I wanted and my manicure is still completely intact 2 days later, which is more than I can say for most manis I've gotten. -Friendly staff. -Inviting, pleasant atmosphere and decor. -There was no attempt to push me into buying additional products, even though many were for sale. This was nice, because I hate when salon employees try to sell me extra hair stuff I really don't want. Cons: -Expensive for small-town Maine -Manicure/pedicure area not particularly clean; a couple strands of someone else's hair were in the basin of the pedicure chair, for example. Nothing too horrifying, but showed lack of attention to detail. -The pedicure massage chair did not seem to work quite right. -Didn't appear to be any parking on-site. There's a town lot across the street but depending on time of day it can be hard to get a spot, and there's a 3-hour limit to park there. Overall, I recommend this place. Their prices are listed on their website so just check it out to avoid sticker shock. As long as it's in your budget, a visit there should make for a lovely, relaxing few hours' break from your day.

After receiving feedback from people on Trip Advisor, and asking the locals, time and again I was referred to Roberto Hostins Salon. And they did not disappoint. First of all, I made the appointment several months in advance, so naturally it was on my "to do" list to call and confirm my appointments for my hair trial and for the big day. The salon beat me to it! I received confirmation calls for both appointments with plenty of advanced notice. All staff were pleasant and attentive. I arrived several minutes early for each appointment and both times was offered a cool beverage. Water was served in glasses (not cups, but glasses). Some may not see this is a big deal, but sometimes it's the little details that add to the experience. Ally was my stylist and she was fantastic. Not only did she listen to what I wanted, she recreated the hairstyle perfectly. She's also very personable and made me feel comfortable and at ease and that I would look my best for the big day. That day was the prettiest I've felt in my whole life. I'd read another review of this salon that mentioned that it was a little pricey. I think that's relative. Given that I was getting services for a wedding, the prices were competitive with other salons at a number of different locations I'd been considering for our wedding, all around the country. The team at Roberto Hostins Salon did a great job, and to me, it was worth every penny!

I had a strange feeling that…read morethe masseuse didn't know what she was doing, she hurt me a few times by way of pinching my skin and not really massaging muscle. When she did massage muscle it didn't seem right, like she was having a battle with my skeleton. I've had many massages and this didn't feel right. The business is located in what looks like someone's home. There was clutter of personal items out in the kitchen and hallway, from moving things out of the massage rooms. I'm not looking for a fancy massage place, but I do want a place that looks clean and peaceful. This was kind of funny, and not right either, there was a dog in the massage room. A gorgeous giant black poodle. If you're allergic to all dogs, including the "hypoallergenic" ones, you might want to know that bit of info before making the appointment. It was a little odd to make an appointment and find myself in someone's home with a dog staring at me from under the massage table. Overall an uncomfortable experience. If you're considering this place, maybe try a different massage than I did. They can also set up appointments at a location of your choice, according to the business' website they can meet you at your hotel room or home.

There is a dog bed and dog toys in the room, this didn't bother me; however, if I'm paying $95 dollars for a massage I would expect a little more. Advice to the owner: your are a not a spa and yet you charge spa rates... I regret tipping 15%, that's my own fault.
