Bab-ee Buc-ee's…read more This is a very, very small Buc-ee's. Like there is a line for the women's bathroom and just a few bathroom stalls small. Still, it's Texas, so we stopped for the Potty Party and to fill gas. Bab-ee Buc-ee's. Home to a Bab-ee Beaver and Bags of Beaver Nuggets.

There just is not too much…read morein Giddings... a half hearted Buc-ee's (something so small they should really be ashamed to call it a Buc-ee's),a Walmart that has 3 isles of groceries... and a cornucopia of fast food or bad food places. In this sea of mediocrity there is a small light... a semblance of possible civilization.... and it's called Rattlers. A decent price for gas in a small town, lots of fast pumps, a large convenience store, a walk in beer cooler, a Burger King attached, and the bathrooms are clean! Hallelujah! (One knock... the staff could not care less about the customers!) Get you gas, grab a 6pk, load up on snacks... and enjoy life in a little place called Giddings.

I had been getting my vehicles serviced at a large national chain for many years, but moved to this small town where that was no longer an option. It took me a while to decide to give Calvin my business because his parking lot is always overcrowded with customer vehicles (he only has 2 bays), and I thought it may be a drop off/pick up later arrangement. Turns out you can wait on your repair; however, they recommend you call for an appointment if you want to wait.

Visited on Sunday November 16th, 2025 to get a little more gas to get home. The price was…read morereasonable--actually, better than the Buc-ees just a block further into town. There were a lot of pumps down that visit, but I lucked into one that was working. The squeegees were viable and not out of water, which gave me a great opportunity to do some window washing while I fueled. It was late (after 5p) on a Sunday and with a lot of travelers, I found the trash bins overflowing as others have noted. I mean, it happens. People come by and clean out a trip's (or a year's) worth of trash here; not fair to them, but that's the deal you make when you serve the public. What I found interesting is that even though this is not a Top Tier fuel, my car actually seemed to run better on it. That was a "wow" moment, and it has added CEFCO to my list of brands to look for on road trips.

The CEFCO of Giddings, Texas will forever hold a special place in my memories (but I'll spare you…read morethe backstory). I was actually able to find some decently healthy food here, a prepackaged pickle and chocolate milk. Ok, now that I write that down it doesn't seem that healthy, but the pickle was actually pretty appetizing, (not disgusting at all, as you might assume a pickle in a bag to be, 100% recommend the pickle) and the milk was just... good. There is a Buck-ee's down the road but it's a smaller one and it doesn't have Tesla charging, the CEFCO is just as good in my experience when it come to bathrooms. The next time I pass through Giddings I will be coming back. (Also, saw a rainbow after a pretty intense rainstorm on Feb. 14 while they were playing my favorite song, so nice experience there.)

Given their location across the "street" from Buc-ee's, I assumed QT would bring their A-game to this location. Instead, it was pretty average all around. Bathrooms weren't particularly clean, and the overall store was about as clean as tidy as you'd see a Pilot or Love's. I thought the prices actually were a tad higher than Buc-ee's but it probably depends on the item. I am 'over' the Bu-cee's experience and crowds myself, but still, I'd wait the minute or two to turn at the TX-21 light and pay them a visit over this particular QT.
