I wish I had gotten his name so I could call him out! And then I asked him about his knowledge of Mr. Hemingway, and he was a complete dolt! Unlike other bars (El Pi... ahem ahem) which will start drowning you in mainstream pop and hip-hop as soon as it's 11 or so, The Great Rang Teng Teng's staff makes the music a bit more modern... but still palatable to us music snobs. Mostly accessible indie with some classics thrown in here and there. Also, be sure to pick up their calendar of upcoming events -- they feature live music regularly as well. And, to make sure this is an authentic old-school dive bar experience, it's in a basement... so your cell phone won't work! After just a few weeks of existence, this is already my favorite bar in Freiburg.
