The menu contains some Mineira standards (Mixidão, Feijão Tropeiro, etc.), as well as spaghetti and some other dishes. We ordered the mixidão for two, along with draft beers, and both the food and drink were excellent. The 2-person portion was huge, and cost only about 40 reais.

And, restaurant Dona Lucinha is well-known in Belo Horizonte for serving an authentic version of this food, in typical buffet style. The layout and design inside is rustic and casual, albeit a bit cramped - including in the buffet areas. The dishes include a range of traditional meats, including Rabado com Agrião (Oxtail) and Frango ao molho pardo (Chicken in dark (=blood) sauce). Other options include tutu (bean puré), costelinha (ribs), linguiça (sausage), feijão tropeiro, mandioca, the slightly bitter jilo vegetable, and the delicious quiabo (okra) vegetable, a.o. The warm foods are served in traditional stone pots. There is a separate (small) area for a few cold vegetables and salads, and an excellent range of traditional desserts. The service is very good, although this would be expected considering the price. Post-meal cafezinhos are served at the table. Our group was also treated to some delicious jabuticaba liquor.

Food is creative and original and tasty. We had some massive ribs, and alcatra with canastra (our "ao ponto" request didn't lead to a medium rare). There can be a pretty long wait to get in on busier days of the week. It's not cheap.

First off I started with a flight called "nice to meet you", a lineup of their lighter beers, the witte, hop corn (which they are out of and substituted the verano - a pale ale), citra - a session IPA, and niobium- a double IPA. I'm not a fan of IPAs, but the witte was really smooth. I had the quintessential MG plate of toasted pão de queijo bruschetta with carne seca, a light creamy cheese and a touch of lemon zest. It was delicious and quite filling. The burger collaboration with duke n' duke was one of the BEST burgers I've had (and we've tasted so many Brazilian burgers, move aside Madero, here's the new champion!) Even if you are not usually a burger fan, this delicious speciality burger on its rustic bread bum, topped with special sauce, bacon and caramelized onions is absolutely scrumptious! Another not-to-miss item is the collaboration of Wäls and Goose Island, for an amazing Alambique County black tripel, a spinoff of Goose's bourbon county (one of my favorite beers). This one is a little lighter in color, if you're afraid of dark beers but full of flavor. We even bought the crystal glass it gets served in. If you are a fan of Wäls petroleum and want to try something different, this is the beer for you. Although the prices are a little expensive here, it's definitely worth every reais. Very impressed with this place, great ambiance, friendly staff, beautiful space and exceptional food and beer.

The menu was quite complete with drinks, appetizers, salads, sandwiches and pastas. We tried a few specials of the day. Suco do dia 2was an orange juice mixed with caju. The cafe of the day was a cherry roast which was very tasty and properly served with a tiny stick of chocolate and a spritzer chaser. The beer of the day was from KÜD, a local brewery, a tangerine ale which was awesome. For food, the Moroccan couscous salad with chicken pieces covers in mint yogurt dressing was pretty tasty. The burger came smothered in American cheese and had a huge helping of unsalted fries on the side. It wasn't too remarkable but fine. Service was prompt and friendly. Definitely a great place to meet a friend for lunch. There's live music on certain days, just check the museum schedule online.

I enjoyed it so much I went back with a co-worker (we were both on business travel in Brazil). The fish is a river fish of Brazil. They cut the fish into fillets (rare to get a bone, but look out for them as they are big and flat), marinate it in a tomato based sauce, then cook it in fire to give it a wonderful smoky flavor. The skewer also has onions cooked in the same way and they are phenomenal. When I visit Sao Jose dos Campos, I love Villa Velha for their pintado na braza. I think I found a new favorite fish in Belo Horizonte. We even had a local playing guitar and singing the last time I visited. Perfect.
