After visiting Florence, I was concerned that it might be difficult to find as high a quality. My…read moreresearch found this spot to be a possibility. It is a very small shop with some seating inside and out. It is quiet with very light classical music playing in the background. They offer some pastries and of course drinks. We had cappuccino and they were good, but not amazing. The barista did a decent job but the flavor was just a bit off. Unlike most cappuccino I have had in Italy so far, the beans were a little burnt and reminded me a little of Starbucks coffee. A lot like it that way but not what I was expecting. One side note, which isn't entering into my rating, is that while we were having our coffee, we were playing a quiet game of backgammon which we often do (bringing a travel set with me). This was a Sunday morning and it wasn't busy. The manager came over to us and told us that there were no games allowed! Now, I have had coffee at a ton of different places (see my many reviews) all over the world, and this has never happened before. We were not making noise and we were not taking up any additional space, so we have no idea what the problem was. There was another person who was reading a big book, but that seemed to be ok. I have no idea what the deal was, but it certainly wasn't nice and friendly. Overall, this was an ok cappuccino but I'm hoping to find better (and more hospitable) places in Bologna.

It's great having more of a Brooklyn/hipster style establishment (for lack of a better term) that's a bit more modern and trendy than the usual other options in Bologna. And they take reservations by phone which is nice. For all that I would give 4 or 5 stars! However: they blatantly looked the other way while 3 or 4 people at various tables around us were vaping. This was extremely unpleasant, and also illegal, which is why I docked them to 3 stars. It's hard to give an unqualified recommendation unless I'm sure they've nipped that in the bud. I hope they do, as it would quickly become one of my favorite spots to hang out in the city.

It seems exclusively at this point to service food tours, which they seem to do well. We walked to the back by many other tables reserved for other groups. It's somewhat divey, which I think they lean into. The wines were pretty good and curated well for the tour. You're allowed to bring your own food, which is seemingly the thing to do. Would I venture here outside the tour? Probably not. But definitely serves the purpose for the tours.
