Caffe Letterario was a place we found walking from the train station into the city of Ravenna. This city is so beautiful and to get my morning started, I came to have my usual cafe and pastry. This was the perfect location to hit up on your way into the city to see Dante's tomb or to look at all of the beautiful mosaics in this town. Even the street signs are in a different mosaic on each sign. If I had time, I would have stayed to have my meal but I was in a rush to see all of the views. Normally Italians do not take their foods on the go. But I did notice that they did have small shot glass size disposable cups here for your espresso and a slightly larger one for your to go cappuccino. I love the small town vibes here. Def a place that I will return to.

I have created my own pizza favourite, perhaps it should be called 'The Rebola' - it is Caprese con Prosciutto Crudo. So delicious when they smother the pizza base with ripe, juicy tomato, buffalo mozzarella and basilico; and, being so close to Parma, I find ordering any style of pig op top is a guaranteed win. YUM!! My dining companions ordered a range of things including salads, pastas, calzones and pizzas. Everybody had a content grin on their faces by the meal's end. Dessert was ordered by a few. I was a bit scared to after a few over the top cream dishes in Italy but now I have seen what is available at Passaparola, next time I am going to dig in! They were very tasty indeed (and a much more acceptable cream to dessert ratio was observed). My pizza and couple of glasses of vino russo came to a modest 12 euro including cover charge. I usually only like shredded hash browns but their breakfast potatoes were perfect. They weren't hard and had a good flavor. The restaurant was clean but very small. It had a nice relaxing feel. I love to try the food of the country I'm visiting, but after traveling for two weeks it was nice to have something I eat at home. The eggs Benedict was a treat. I had the hot amaretto coffee drink and that just hit the spot and made the waiting to be seated all worth it. The had many types of milk you can put in your coffee, for example, they have soy milk, oat milk, etc. I would definitely recommend this place and come back. Oh and the less than friendly waitress served my food to me with a smile, but she never smiled again and never accepted my thank you's no matter how much I said them. Word of advice don't have a sad face if they can't provide something the way you want it if the waitress is blond and Italian. That will not go over well.
