Where do we start. Cafe Cavour is a marvelous dining experience. Set in an underground ancient…read moreolive mill, the ambience is beautiful and romantic. The food on its own is one of the best we have had in Italy, but the real gem is its owners Fabrizio and Donatello. Both are incredibly gracious and generous, and express their bright personalities through their food and service. My fiancé and I dinned here and they made our evening and time in Ostuni feel truly special.  We would recommend a reservation to make the most of the experience. The lamb is amazing, and the spaghetti with octopus is probably my favorite coastal dish. Truly impressive how they are able to deliver from both land and sea.

This place was a gem, worthy of accolades and return visits. A family-run (dad, mom, son)…read morerestaurant a few steps from Piazza Della Liberta, the gateway to the old city in Ostuni. The restaurant itself is located in a romantic cavelike grotto that was apparently a "frantoio" (olive mill) dating back to the 1100s. Simple, seasonal Puglian cuisine, featuring seafood, meats, and cheeses. Dishes changing with the seasons and cooked with elegance. Owner Giuseppe Fabrizio Nacci was there to explain it all and give suggestions. What a nice guy! And what a great dinner experience. All the dishes were standouts; great pasta with calamari, and orecchiette with tomatoes and ham from Martina Franca, but we were in 7th heaven after ordering the slow-cooked lamb-shank as a secondo to split among the 3 of us. It took a while (it was, indeed, tender and slow-cooked) and was just divine. Great Puglian wine-list. If you have only one dinner in old-town Ostuni, I'd strongly recommend this one.

Caffe Plantone - Drool! Almost like affogato, but better! Espresso, milk ice cream and fresh cream!

If you're visiting Alberobello, this is a must stop place! It was one of the busiest, so we had to…read moresee what the fuss was all about. We did have to wait a bit, it's first come first serve. Tops, 10 minute wait and we were seated. I've been addicted to Puccia and coffee with almond milk. Service was typical and you feel rushed, but they get the job done. It was very hard to flag them down, so be ready to order everything you want when you get them. It's a tourist spot, can't expect everything to be perfect. There was a long line inside for gelato, so we avoided going inside. We enjoyed our time very much sitting outside and people watch. My Puccia was absolutely delicious and I wanted another. We ended up ordering this coffee drink that sounds like Affogato, but in my opinion, it's 10x better. I was just in my own bubble with this as I was videoing the goodness. Espresso, milk ice cream (it was supposed to be almond but they ran out), and topped with fresh cream. We were skeptical at first since it wasn't the "original" recipe, but I'm glad we got what we got. I'm going to see if I can try to make this at home! Flagging them down to pay was hard, but it's easy. Tap'n go! The restroom inside was a bit.....weary to go in. You have to get this token from them to be able to open the door. Interesting, but it's not a restroom you want to go. It's the squat'n go toilet. It was a hot mess inside and didn't have any TP =/

The gelato is ok. Honestly this town is so overrated and such a tourist trap that this cafe is…read moremore representational of that. The gelato flavors are limited and unimaginative. When you ask for a sample to see which one you like, they say no just buy another. Also not it cost one additional Euro to sit in a chair. Not even in Paris or Rome do they have the nerve to pull such a stunt. But I guess if you are in the big tourist trap and the only shop in site to serve gelato, then you can treat people like cattle and "make them pay." I such a stupid person. Skip this town and go to Matera. The people there are kind and it is everything you would associate with a UNRSCO site. And the gelato there is amazing.
