Food: 3 stars, but I'm adding a 4th due to the wonderful service, cleanliness and atmosphere…read more Tasty Asian food. Menu is mostly a mix of Thai and Chinese influences. A bit more expensive than similar places in the neighborhood. We ordered the green curry with chicken and the pad thai with shrimp. The boyfriend really loved the green curry... I would say if you're expecting a typical spicy Thai green curry then you will be a bit disappointed. I don't think it was exceptionally flavorful either. However it was definitely enjoyable once I got over the fact that it tasted nothing like green curries I've had before. The flavors came through cleanly but not strongly. Along with the chicken it came with perfectly cooked vegetables that were cut perfectly. I hate when curries have awkward chunks that sort of distract you from the overall dish. The veggies were also very nice, not a cheap blend but a wonderful mix of shiitakes, asparagus, bell pepper, and stringy enokitake. The pad thai was tasty, but again wasn't very representative of countless pad thais I've had before. The noodles were very wet and saucy. I enjoyed the flavors but felt a bit cheated that it only came with two tiny little shrimps- especially since opting for shrimp cost extra. Our server was wonderful. Whenever we looked up for her, she came over instantly. This is how service should be, waiters should always be watching should their customers need them but unfortunately that's often not the case in Spain. She was very pleasant despite the fact we came in so close to closing time. I'm pretty sure we were there far after they closed but we were never rushed out. She also properly served the wine, allowing a little taste before serving. Again, this small step seems to be overlooked whenever we go out to a casual place. The space was clean and well designed. I really enjoyed eating in. It would be a wonderful date night spot. The bathroom was impeccably clean, shining and spotless. I would absolutely try this place again, maybe for a menu del día (lunch combo). This place almost always seems to be empty which is just sad. I wasn't blown away but apart from the slightly higher prices the food was a step up from the other Asian places in this neighborhood. Side note- A friend got takeaway from here and really enjoyed his food.

If you're not a big fan of sushi they have many options for you. The sushi was a lot better than sushi I've had previously in Barcelona. It was pretty good! During the day, the buffet is €9.50 per person and then at night it gets more pricey, €15 I think? I definitely suggest going for the lunch price. Its worth it! The dinner price is a bit much and even more if you get water. Overall, I had a great time with friends going for lunch. I really liked it! And I was stuffed!

For the price I'm paying, and considering that I'm the one actually cooking the food at the table, I expected much better service and higher quality. As it stands now, I wouldn't consider coming back.

The place from the outside looks small with just a entrance. Then as soon as you go in it's like wow big well bigger than expected. We ordered our drinks. I didn't know they don't have tap water. I forget it's not a norm here. These are the little things I have to get use to. We ordered 8 dishes. Which were very good. Minus one of the noodle dish. It was the spicy noodle it was missing something. Maybe more ground meat or just more meat. It wasn't bad but I doubt I will order it again. The two dumplings were good. Different texture on the prawn one. Outside was a bit more sticky. My peanut noodle dish was very good. That I would go back and get again. The tofu century egg was not what we originally ordered but we kept it anyways. It wasn't bad but I think it would have been good as a warm dish. I didn't get to taste the chicken dish but my cousin in law said it was good. Of course the century egg dish was good. It had some pig ear mushrooms with it. This place also serves shabu shabu over €20. Not bad. Bathroom is clean. Place is clean and they also have WIFI. Street parking. So all in all my Christmas dinner was Delish. Everything has always been flavorful but, as is the case with most Asian places in Europe, never lives up to Thai places I love back in the US (DC area, Tampa area). Positives: Great value and portions for lunch. Located in a nice bustling square with pleasant terrace seating year round. Interior is nicely decorated. Lunch offerings are constantly changing. One of the few Thai places in Barcelona that offer papaya salad. Personally, I loved their Tod Man Muu (crispy pork fritters), Tohm Kha (coconut milk soup), Nemcuon (fresh summer rolls), and their Panang curry. Keep in mind that honestly nothing is spicy, but you can always request extra chili to add on the side. Negatives: Have had dishes come out cold/lukewarm a few times. They don't seem to understand timing of dishes. Dishes have often come out one by one with even 10 minutes in between. This is very awkward when you're in a group. Yes their kitchen is small, but seriously for a restaurant as successful as Banna this should not be happening. Nothing is spicy- but you can always add spice yourself.
