Nice views and convenient location, but not worth the price. Sadly, housing options in Kona that…read moreallow pets are few and far between. I moved to be closer to work and settled here after looking for months. I pay $1900/month for a studio, $90 of which goes to amenities (there are 6 units in each of the 20 buildings, so you do the math), yet we have to clean our own stairwells. The amenities consist of a dog run, a few gazebos with broken grills, and mowing/yard services. I live in the "haven" unit with a full bath, one sink (outside the bathroom), a fridge, and no kitchen. Needless to say I've become pretty skillful on an induction stove. If you're looking for a quick option, have pets, and/or can stomach the high cost for a studio, here are a few additional things to consider: Amenities: Discussed above. For the yard work, I've seen mostly teenagers on the riding mowers. Cable/Wi-Fi: Included. However, Spectrum service is really spotty up here. Electric: Not included. Each unit has a meter reading and is charged monthly. When the electricity is out due to a storm or hurricane, power can be out for up to 48 hours (this is what happened during the Kona Low and Lala). Hot water: Does not allow for two people to shower at the same time and both have hot water. Pets/Dog Run: No bags for dog waste. Maintained maybe once a month; definitely not as often as the lawn. Oftentimes the waste cans are overflowing. There's a $50/month fee per pet. I will say the area is surprisingly quiet considering how many tenants live here, including children. There are abandoned vehicles on property despite it being against house rules.

Aloha! We previously lived at Hale Kaloko and enjoyed our time their. The community offers…read morespectacular ocean views throughout. I loved the convenient distance to town. I was lucky to live in a building with all great neighbors. Carlos, the Property Manager is great! He is very welcoming and attentive. Carlos made sure that any concerns we had were addressed immediately. The only reason why we moved was because we needed more space, otherwise we would still be living here. Hale Kaloko is a great place to call home.

If I could give no stars, I would. What was terrible was management & maintenance. The manager…read morewalks around on a high horse and gets off on telling people what to do. We parked by the trash can to throw things away for 5 minutes and the maintenance worker came to yell at us and told us to move. Then after we said we were just throwing trash away he tells someone else with me to move it into a stall because he had to walk around the car to throw something away, sorry to make you take a few extra steps. Again, we were unloading groceries and our spot was on the second story parking so we went down to the first one so we could take the elevator. He came to our door as soon as we got inside pounding on it for us to move it. We were already about to go move it so we walked out of the condo and he's leaning against the railing staring at us the entire walk to the elevator. We tried to start convo and smile and he gave us a death stare the entire time. Followed us all the way down to the car and watched us move it. Never once conversating. The whole week of our trip after they gave us dirty looks when they both saw us. Today was our last day and our neighbors got locked out of their condo with their phones inside so we let them into ours for a moment to sit down and use ours. Then the manager yells from the bottom floor as we were on the balcony "You better not jump over it's a violation". We were all thrown off because we were just trying to be neighborly & helpful to them. Then the manager told them he couldn't help them and to contact the person who rented the condo out, they tried to find the number on our phones and couldn't. He had a loop full of keys hard to believe he couldn't have let them in. We will never stay here again. If you don't like socializing you probably shouldn't be a condo manager or maintenance worker. Thank you for ruining our stay and our neighbors. We won't be back.
