I am closing my Chase credit/debit card account specifically because of him. I have never been treated so poorly as when I dealt with him. Common kindness and polite behavior goes a far way. His behavior included not taking me to a private spot and talking about a bank account on the floor, tossing my needs to a clerk, talking negatively to a me etc. He needs to find another line of work. I wish I could give a negative score to him.

Chase seized the check, reversed the deposit, and sent me a message that I would be hearing from them. I realized my error and called their customer service several times. After talking to an offshore rep with a thick accent and a bad connection, I knew nothing more other than I would get a letter by US mail in seven to ten business days. The letter finally arrived ten days later with a copy of the check, and instructions that I could take it to the bank to deposit. I did, around noon, to the New Orleans Saint Charles branch. I stood in line behind no one until I was motioned to step up to the teller, who told me that I would need an estate account. I asked how I did that, and she said I would have to talk to a banker, motioning to three Chase employees who had been standing and watching it all. I approached them and explained what I needed to do. One woman, obviously in charge, asked if I had a tax id, which I would need. I said no, could they help me with that. She said I could get one quickly at irs.gov. I asked if I used my smart phone to do that in the lobby, could we move forward. She told me firmly I would need an appointment. I asked for an appointment, and she said they (I assume the three standing around) were booked for the day and I would have to come back after I had made such appointment. She really showed me who was boss there, and she had no intention of being helpful other than was absolutely required. Not what I expected from Chase.

They have an ATM, they also offer foreign currency exchange, although I haven't used that feature, I notice the sign every time I come in. My employer uses this branch as our choice for banking. I have been coming in about once a week for the better part of the last year and I am happy to report the easy of use at this location is the best I have experienced in quite some time. The staff is very nice and helpful. There is rarely a line.

The Morgan Street Branch, as it's affectionately known, is only 4 blocks from my work in the French Quarter; therefore, it's the most convenient branch for me 90 % of the time. I'm happy to report that even following the merger, it seems like this particular branch was not affected by an influx of new tellers. I love seeing the same faces time after time, as I am a creature of habit and love a little familiarity. The tellers are always courteous and even if the lines are long, they move quickly as it seems that everyone has their "you know what" together. The bank, like most businesses in the French Quarter, is located in a building that is older than all of it's customers. It is an architectural design that is unlike any other banks seen outside of New Orleans. Check out the vaulted (arched) ceiling and you'll see what I'm I'm talking about. However, don't try and snap any photos as it's "against their policy".

So finding an ATM suddenly is on my radar. I prefer bank ATMs vs. stand along machines within a business, but that's just me. And the ATM fee. My First Republic checking account refunds that.

While they can cash an EE bond issued to you, the older E bonds now require a bunch of hoops. These hoops have nothing to do with Chase and are federal requirements. Since my matured bond was over $100, you know I wasn't letting that money go. I had downloaded the forms from the treasury website and then brought them into Chase (where I am an account holder) to have them stamp it with a seal. I should have made an appointment to do this but they were kind enough to take me as a walk in. After figuring out exactly what was needed, I signed the document in their presence and it was stamped. I mailed off the documents and a week later a direct deposit was in my account! There is parking behind the building which is tight but manageable. Whew!

Need a drive-thru ATM on St. Charles near Calliope? This is your best bet…read more While it may be your best bet, it is not the best ATM by a mile. In fact, I have only been able to use the ATM successfully 1/5 or more visits. The ATM must be accessed from Jackson Ave. The entrance is very narrow and once you enter, you're stuck. This means that when the guy in front of you has no clue how to operate an ATM, you're stuck. When the ATM decides it can't dispense cash and the five people in front of you can't read, you're stuck. When the person in front of you stops less than a car length past the ATM as if they want to get out and carjack you. Yep. Stuck again. You get the picture. When the ATM works, it saves me a trip way out of my way. But it is so unreliable I often brave the bums outside Walgreens to get some scrilla. If you're a Chase customer and want to avoid ATM fees, maybe you'll find this review and know where to go.

They ignored me for the first few minutes in the building as two tellers counted money and didn't look up. Finally another came out from the back and told me they didn't accept the coins. I was specifically told they did. When I said the bank provided bad information and bad service, the teller argued with me. As long as they are friendly, she said, it's good service. Finally the manager appeared and told me that the other branch was wrong and they could do nothing. He said it wasn't their fault. After some back and forth, he took my debit card and looked up my account. Why? He then said that they would direct me to a Coinstar machine. I have two sizable accounts here, but as soon as I move out of this city, I will be closing them. This bank is full of poorly trained people.

ATM only disbursed $20 bills, I needed smaller for the local buses. Went inside: two tellers doing nothing except talking and joking with each other with a manager in a private office working on something. I gave one teller $40 and asked if I could have smaller bills. "We can't make change for non-customers". I answered "I'm from out of town" and I became a customer when I paid $4 to get cash from your ATM -- here's the receipt. She refused. "We can only serve customers with accounts". Simply awful. Do not bank with this company. Their ATM only gives $20's. They won't fix the problem. And in the one minute interaction to tell me they won't make change, she could have made the change!
