If you've managed to fly the nest and escape wee Dursley, you'll not necessarily be overwhelmed by Bank Cafe (since there are a ton the same in many big cities). However, considering this is Dursley, this is quite a find. Who knew that a touch of hipster could make its way into our little home town? I didn't expect it!
And so what if the school desks and chairs make for a bit of an awkward/uncomfortable sit? It looks pretty quirky and cool. (Next time I'll aim for the sofas, if they're free, should the visit be lengthy.) The warehouse style tubes are a must to polish off the industrial look. Okay -- enough of that. You get the idea; they've seen the vintage trend and taken that on with gusto. It's cute and I do actually love all the old school signage.
What you have here is a warm, friendly, family place -- which appears to be indie and family-run -- serving up all kinds of freshly made treats. If you want a flat white, this is probably the only place for miles that will serve one. If you want salad that has some pizzaz, Bank's your Huckleberry. The menu is definitely one that will tempt me back for a second try, next time I'm home. My sandwich was totally, toasty delicious.
There's Wi-Fi for those laptop posers (like me -- I'm not afraid to admit it), there's good coffee, there are plenty of sweet treats, and there's tons of space. I'm definitely a fan. read more
