Smoothies with protein are the reason I come here at night. Believe it or not, it does get somewhat crowded at that time. I don't recall getting my order in less than 10 minutes ever, but it's worth the wait. Try the Vanilla Smoothie with Protein powder if you get the chance.

You have to try the salchipapa which is basically fried hotdog and fries with mayonnaise/ ketchup Sauce. They also have a really good chicken sandwich. They're very popular for their shakes but I'm not a huge fan. Not that much sitting space, it's more of a "to go" place. It's a great late night snack! The wait is usually longer towards the night but they do order pick up which I would recommend. The girl at the register didn't speak English but I'm not sure there was someone in the back who did. Definitely recommend

"Chicken" sandwich. The Cuban was even more disgusting looking
K M.

Worst sandwich I've had in a long time. Most Cubans don't have lettuce and tomatoes but do have pickles. This one had none of the above. Whatever it was made with was hardly edible. Asked the cashier for ketchup for my fries. She gave me exactly two packets. I asked for more, it was like pulling teeth. The "milkshake" was watery even though I requested it was made the normal way....with milk The crispy chicken sandwich is awful as well. This place's owners should be ashamed

It tasted ok, but at least It doesn't taste like gold!

$7.60 for a Mango Milk Shake. Seriously! It is gold? Tasted ok, didn't taste like gold though!

It's all about the sauces

Clean location. Friendly staff, quick service. I came here for the first time after visiting a few different banana king locations. Great experience. I ordered the Cuban sandwich, which if you're expecting a traditional Cuban, this is not it. It's great tasting but it's not traditional. This one has a bunch of lettuce and untraditional pulled pork. It's great tasting but not what you would expect from a "Cuban sandwich." The cheese steak on the other hand is great tasting, toasty, and delicious. Nothing pairs better than their special "pink sauce." Banana king is also known for their wonderful shakes "world famous." I always go with the strawberry banana and add sweet milk to it. The shakes are a lot of calories so don't overdue it! Overall my experience was great. Friendly service, they even dropped off my tray at my table. My food came out at record speeds without compromising the taste. I love this place! Enjoy your experience, I know I did.

Long wait late nights, food is good and made to order. The price seem fair. They have a huge menu all kinds of stuff from breakfast to dinner.

If you know anything about banana king then you know this is the usual spot to grab a bite to eat after a late night. I've had their empanadas, pan con queso, arepa, steak sandwich, chicken patacon, salchipapa, milkshakes, and well... basically everything on the menu. The food is hearty and the perfect splurge food. Would recommend!

Roach on the counter 12/22/2016

Found a roach on the counter top and when I told them about it, they shrugged me off like it happens on the regular. Used to be my 4th option in the area for late night grub when there's nothing else to eat but I guess I will have to keep it off my list

Am I a bird? 16 dollars for a side salad portion.

I am absolutely outraged at the food and customer service that I received at this establishment. Anyhow I ordered Salchipapas which was 16 bucks, a passion fruit smoothie, and got a deal for 2 cheese empanadas for the price of one. This was the worst takeout food I received in 2022 yet and probably in all of 2021 before. I literally can not believe how badly I was disregarded however I will get to my issue. I spent 16 dollars on a large order of Salchipapas and I received a portion size so small, that it was the same container I used for side salads when I worked at restaurants. This was such a small portion that I was still hungry, and very upset. I am also not sure if the blenders at this establishment are broken, but there was a HUGE chunk of ice in my smoothie that I had to take out in order to drink it which was very disappointing. My empanadas were so small, that I understand why there was a promo deal for them. I was not happy with that, but my main complaint is about the Salchipapas (the main course). This came in such an insultingly small portion for 16 dollars, that I almost thought that I was being April fooled two weeks late. When I called the restaurant no one spoke English which is also unacceptable. I am not trying to be mean, but how are you going to have customer service when the staff can not even communicate in the primary language? All they did was waste my time, say no, and hang up on me twice. If this is how you treat your customers, then I never will return again. I was dissatisfied, angry, hungry, and any other negative adjective you can think of. The woman then told me in broken English that she can get me an order for pickup. I asked if it can be delivered and she said no; I was willing to meet them halfway and drive to the restaurant for the replacement food. The woman then all of a sudden could speak some English and said it would be 8 bucks. I almost dropped my phone. Do they really expect me to drive there to pay for the food? The portion was so small I would not pay 8 dollars for it, let alone 16. I even called the following day to ask for someone who speaks English. To some miracle, I was able to speak with someone who knows the language the next day. She explained that this was the size they have been using for Salchipapas since they opened and it was fine. For that price, I can get a large pizza; in reality I would need 4 servings of that half efforted main course to even get close to full. I reiterate I am 155 pounds and 6 foot 1. If you're food can not fill me up, there is a problem. I am going to waste away to nothing if these portions keep coming I do not understand for the life of me how anyone was ever satisfied paying 16 for that size, 12, or even 8. Regardless, I do not care what they give other people because this was not worth what I paid for. I sent the picture of the portion to Uber eats, they also agreed this portion was minute and said they would refund me. I also showed this picture to almost every other acquaintance I came across that day to verify if in fact I am being unreasonable, nope everyone found that portion to be ridiculous. The sad thing is I was exchanging with one of their associates all day arguing which is so sad. I was a consistent customer and explained, since they are so prideful and will not even make it right. If they want to lose money by all means go for it, but make this situation right because you know in reality its nice to care about the customers satisfaction. I worked in the restaurant industry for years and I can not tell you how many times we just added another order of fries when a customer is not satisfied with the portion. Why? BECAUSE FRIES COST NOTHING AND WE CARED ABOUT THE CUSTOMER. These people clearly don't and I am not a bird, nor am I on a diet. For that price I want to see a mountain of costless fries. I don't wanna hear I am sorry, like I said that does nothing. I don't wanna hear oh we are getting that worker in trouble because that does nothing for me either. I do not care what they do unless my order is fully replaced. I am happy to go down there in person and talk to that rude worker and the manager so I can perhaps enlighten them about the word RESPECT if they are willing to toss me some costless fries that I deserve. Yes it was that bad, that I would be willing to come in and call them out. Let me know when that worker is back I can come by and give a verbel extension of this review. WORST FOOD EXPERIENCE OF 2022 I would advise against coming here.

Chicken patacon
Christian G.

Been here a couple of times, it's a good after drinks/dancing place but if you're trying to be formal don't come here. The food is fast food so you'll feel heavy after you eat it and they use a lot of pink sauce in all their sandwiches. Why I give it 3 stars, overpriced, the location is cold, and the workers aren't amicable. Other than that if you want something fast and good but expensive this is your place.

For starters, they have free 1-hour parking (with validation) right next door which is a huge perk! Second, they're cash only. Third, this is definitely a local spot and despite a slight language barrier, the staff were incredibly warm & friendly. We ordered the Grande Pan con Bistec w Queso which is their large steak sandwich. We decided to split it and ended up ordering another sandwich midway through because it was that good. The sandwich is simple - steak, fries, onions, and cheese. The bread was the perfect texture and thickness, the steak was plentiful, the fries were salty & crispy, and the onions were tangy & bright. They're also known for their smoothies so we got two. Mamey is a tropical fruit tree native to southern Mexico and Central America. The flavor is closest to a melon, sweet potato, and caramel. I enjoyed this one but it's definitely on the sweeter side. Guanabana is soursop which is more custardy, sweet like banana and tangy like pineapple. I absolutely loved this one! This meal was so simple yet so satisfying. I highly recommend checking them out!

Came here May 6th after work…read more Please kindly note: pickup orders you need to go to website. I arrived and went to the bar to provide my order, which took approximately 15 minutes to be finished for take out. Bar: The service at the bar was fantastic. My first time here ordering for my spouse and I and she explained the full menu, provided water while I was waiting. Patient, attentive. 10/10. No complaints in service. Inside: At 5:30 PM arrival seated areas were empty but the bar was at 50% capacity. I do remember walking at night time and this place is always busy or full. When entering you are greeted by the front lady for reservations. The ambience is fantastic, with great lighting and a structure that is clear where to go for bathroom, bar, back to your seat! The music being played, hispanic and Cuban music brought a great vibe. As someone who worked in Monterrey for over a year, it felt like I was culturally back. 10/10. Great location. Great ambience and lighting. Great music. Fantastic interior design with plenty of spacing Food: Amazing food. One appetizer with bananas I believe was simply outstanding. The braised pork we ate was sooooo tender and well cooked. Only thing, which does not deserve docking a score, is make sure you call or know beforehand if there are large parties or events going on. It is very noisy if that's not your vibe when those events are going on and they happen often here especially on weekends.

We sat outside right on the water with an incredible view of Manhattan. It was a little chilly, but we had jackets and were perfectly comfortable. The inside has a very lively, Miami-style atmosphere, but it was pretty busy with people filming and taking photos, so sitting outside was definitely the right choice for us--it felt much quieter and more relaxed. I'm expecting, so I asked about mocktails and was a little surprised that the options were basically a non-alcoholic piña colada or mojito. For a restaurant at this price point, I would have expected a more interesting mocktail selection. My husband did order a cocktail that he really enjoyed. We started with the lobster and shrimp tacos, which were probably my favorite thing of the night. They were absolutely delicious--I could have eaten five more! That said, $28 for three very small tacos felt a little steep. For my entrée, I had the Camarones al Ajillo ($36). The flavor was great, but there weren't many shrimp and mine were unfortunately a bit overcooked. I also found a hair on my food, which was obviously disappointing. My husband had the Paella Clasico, which was delicious and a much better portion. We also shared the Son Cubano fried rice, and that was AMAZING--another standout of the meal. Overall, you're definitely paying a premium for the beautiful waterfront location and atmosphere. We had some really delicious dishes, but between the portion sizes, pricing and a few issues with my entrée, I don't think the food quality consistently matched the price point. Still, the views are gorgeous and there were enough things we really enjoyed that I'm glad we tried it.

What an excellent spot!…read more I've been here a few times - both for just drinks and most recently for dinner. The vibes here are excellent - the space is beautifully decorated, clean, and the outdoor patio is gorgeous, especially in the summertime. The cocktails are all extremely creative and delicious (although I do think a little on the weak side). The last time I was here was for a birthday dinner. We were a large party of 8 women, and all the staff was very accommodating towards us. The food/drinks came out quickly, and they even gave my friend a big ol' birthday celebration complete with a firework candle and a light-up sign. The food is pretty decent - Spanish and Hispanic mostly, with a Caribbean flair. Standouts were the coconut shrimp (which came on a clothes hanger), the steak and tostones, and the ropa vieja. The only real downside of Don Coqui is the price of everything. The bill (with a 20% tip added for a large party) was just shy of 600 dollars, and this was for a table of appetizers and cocktails. Also, the valet parking for 15 dollars is wild, especially when there is a free lot available mere steps away. if you're feeling a little bougie, this is a great spot to grab a drink and get some great photos!

The location is truly special In the distance you can see the George Washington bridge and one feels like on vacation. When making reservations you can request an outdoor seat which is highly recommended if the weather is good. The only downside were the occasional jet skis buzzing close by. Also, the music outside was not as loud as inside and one can have a conversation without yelling. Enzo our server was very polite and attentive. Jay the manager came around to check on us a couple of times. The food ranged from ok to vey good. The rice in both entrees was a little dry and in need of a bit of seasoning. The dessert (coconut flan) was awesome in terms of presentation and taste. Despite the awesome location, good service, and generally good food, the bill was a little pricey for what we had. I would have given it another star. Even though it's located poor of the way, we will be back and recommend it.
