Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to be extremely negative or dramatic but my experience was a absolute shit show, so therefore my review reflects upon that. I'm literally typing this while in the salon. I would not recommend this salon to anyone unless you would like to have your cuticles cut, have tools used on you that have not been cleaned after the last customer, and subpar service. When I sat down at the bowl to get a pedicure, she couldn't even ask me what I wanted since she was on the phone for 15 minutes while doing my toes. I honestly don't care about her being on the phone but at least acknowledge me and ask me what I would like, it's rude. She was nice once she started talking to w but niceness doesn't make up for having a overall bad experience . They don't use liners in their bowls at all, that's concerning since you don't know if they actually cleaned the bowl or not. With liners, at least your feet are protected by a liner. I felt like the service wasn't worth the amount of money that they charge for their services. They don't think it's Important to use new tools either, she used a used nail file on my feet and a used foot pumice. How did I know? The foot pumice normally comes out of a wrapper, hers didn't. She grabbed it right out of her tote that they all have at the pedicure stations. About the foot pumice, she could've removed the wrapper beforehand but I don't necessarily think so considering she dipped it in water and put it back in her tote instead of throwing it away so that led me to assume she is reusing tools. Also, after she finished scrubbing my feet and cutting my cuticles, she took the tools and dumped them in the water to "clean" them off. That's disgusting ! How can this salon possibly have a health score of a 95?! I'd advise someone from the health department come get a pedicure here with their very own eyes to see the nonsense that goes on in this salon. I also had to have two nails repaired since I cracked two nails a few weeks back and she tried to apply polish on the grown out overlay! I had to ask her not to bc that's literally going to look a mess for polish to be on top of a outgrown overlay. I came here based off of a friend saying she had a great pedicure but unfortunately my experience was the opposite. I should've went with the reviews that are showing here on the business's page. I wouldn't come back here even if my boyfriend paid for it. This nail salon is not up to standards, I honestly should've went to the nail salon in the mall and got a pedicure for $20 and would've had a better experience. Stay away from here, I'm praying my feet don't become infected since hygiene clearly isn't a big deal here. Only thing nice is the interior part of the salon. Me and my mom went to go get our nails done for a girls day and it was the worst experience I have ever had. My mom's nails look great but I am extremely unsatisfied. I was trying to pick out a color and my tech came over and rushed me to my seat (station 11). I wanted a lavender and got an electric purple because I had very limited options. The tech kept laughing and didn't seem to take things seriously and didn't listen when I told him I wasn't done picking out a color. He worked very fast and filed over a cut I had on my finger. Do not come here! Only good thing about this place is the student discount. The staff is kind, but they never listen to me when I describe how I want my nails done and instead do the exact opposite. This one time I came into the salon with a photo; and after having PAID, the nail technician doing my fill told me that he couldn't do the design and to just "pick a color." Excuse me? Why didn't you tell me that BEFORE I paid? I tried to give them another chance about three weeks ago and it was just as bad. Beware daughter Went in with the design I first picture. Was told the tech could do the design. My daughter couldn't see the design till the nail tech was done. She was so caught off guard she left and went to the car and cried over how awful they looked. Listen I know college student can be dramatic, but the design that was done is so bad. Lines not complete, paint missing and the shape of nail is horrible. She spent her own money to have them done and this is why she's so upset to see the money go down the drain. Then was in such a rush to get me out of their chair they messed my nails up and had to repaint them and i could tell that he was very frustrate. I had to get acrylics done for a beauty pageant and as a tomboy teenager this is only my 2nd time getting them done..... as soon as i walked in the lady at the front desk was so sweet she asked me what i wanted and was nice about the whole thing. I'm a very easy person to please when it comes to my nails. But this place pretty much did everything wrong! I got a fill in on short/ medium length almond shape nails with gold french tip and I asked for polish change in gel on my toes. ( My usual place was closed for the holidays). I did not have my nails done for a full 5 days before they started to chip, crack, bubble up, and break in half to the point I've had to reglue multiple nails on myself. On top of that, my "French tip" is see through and the polish on my toes have bubbles, lumps, and bumps. Not only did they do an overall terrible job. They charged me $130!!! $130 to fill in and change polish? To me that is just ridiculous. Yes, their salon looks nice but that does not mean anything when your work is terrible. read more

I GOT ROBBED. If I could give 0 stars I would. I paid $100 for a gel pedicure and a dip manicure. Gel pedicure was fine but he clearly had never done dip in his life. Didn't even take my cuticles out and got dip all over my nail bed and fingers. The dip was about an inch over my nail it was so thick. He finished and my pink color looked tie dyed with white? I told him and he JUST ADDED ANOTHER LAYER WHICH MADE IT THICKER! Then he put the gel machine over it which you don't do with dip. So disappointing! I have been to Bama Nails 3 others times with ok results, but wish I had been bold enough to walk out today! The first guy who did my pedicure dropped the cuticle tools on the FLOOR three times and then continued to use them without cleaning them. I wish I had spoken up and said NO! While he had my legs wrapped in a warm towel he washed out the pumice stone in the dirty water my feet had been soaking in and put it back in his tray to use for the person after me. This was dirty foot water with skin cells, cuticle cream, etc. It is disgusting thinking about the stone in the previous customer's dirty water. He did not use a tool to clean under the toe nails or around the nails to prevent ingrown toenails. He used a tiny bowl to scoop out the sugar scrub from the large jar and then rinsed it out in my dirty foot water and then put it right back in his tray for the next customer. A different guy did my manicure, but this was unacceptable too. He gave me COLD water to soak my nails in, then pushed the cuticles back and trimmed them without any cuticle remover or cuticle oil. He then rinsed out the bowl with plain water and placed it back by the sink for the next customer. He took the cuticle trimmer out of his drawer twice, used it, and then put it right back for the next customer after me without disinfecting it. The nail file was obviously well used. After filing my nails he started painting them without cleaning the dust off or asking me to wash them. He never once used cuticle oil or any tool that had been disinfected. The gel polish looks wavy and thick on the ends, but thin at the cuticle. Praying I don't get an infection and vowing to speak up next time. I am going to find out how to call the hygiene board and report my experience. read more

My nails were in bad shape and he made them beautiful. He is kind, thoughtful, and conscientious about his work. He is proud of his salon and works hard to ensure each client is happy. I've been twice now and have plans to return every three weeks from here on out! I felt rushed by the tech when I walked in the door like he was inconvenienced by me taking time to pick out a color. Because of the Christmas Holidays I wasn't able to find time to drive to my nail salon in Hoover, so I researched and saw that Bama Nails was re-opening after a full remodel and it was close to my house. So I decided to go. When I walked in, the salon looked gorgeous-it was clean and organized. I was greeted and started picking out polish for a gel manicure. Once I sat down in the chair it started to go down hill very quickly. The woman who started on my nails seemed extremely distracted and was very hard on my nails/hands. She cut my cuticles dry (with no cuticle softener), only cut down the length of my nails on my right hand. She started painting my nails with the gel polish and the color was very uneven and it was ALL OVER the skin around my fingernails.
