We have stayed at Hotel La laguna around three/four times before and have always had a great time. On this occasion the air con was not working which no one told us about until we complained of no sleep in our sauna room. We also couldn't call reception to ask for assistance as the phones didn't work (apparently upgrading them). The internet was also down for a few hours on or first night but got fixed so no major issue. For our air con issue we got offered a second room by the maintenance man which didn't have any working air con so we said no and then got offered another which was so much better and air con worked a treat. As I complained at having no sleep on our first night and with being pregnant it was dangerous for me to overheat the hotel gave us a refund of our first night but first checked the rest of our stay was satisfactory. I was really disappointed with my stay this time around and don't know if I would go back even though this was one of our fave hotels in Alicante but the manager (when he was in) did get an extra star for acknowledging the issues. I think the pool was also broken/off for a couple of days and possibly the spa too but as we didn't ask what the issue was I can't 100% be sure. The place is buzzing at night with dancing and music. The view from our window in the room is stunning. We were in a room at the back of the hotel and asked to be moved to a sea view. The staff were so accommodating and helpful and moved us the next day to a perfect room. We will be back.

Ok firstly I'm not a golfer this just had a convenient location for a work trip…read more It is a gated resort but I didn't have any issue getting in on arrival. The main hotel is easily found and apartment blocks are all around the golf course that is central. There is a mix of privately own properties alongside the ones the hotel/resort control. Upon arrival head to the main hotel to collect your key, which is an actual key! There are several communal pools dotted around along with the Spa and restaurants housed in and around the main building. If you don't fancy any of the on-site eateries there are several just outside the resort you can access. My apartment had all the amenities you need, fridge freezer, cooker, washing machine, microwave and the WiFi was good enough for work purposes along with leisure activities. The staff were friendly around the venue. All in all a good place to stay if your a golf fan or work has you out this way.

Five star resorts do NOT: start their renovation and construction works in June, continue to charge full price and fail to disclose said works, block the entrance to the hotel with construction trucks, and close two of the restaurants on site, all with no notice and full price. They stuck us in one of the worst rooms in the complex. Look online, you'll see zero photos of small rooms with no outdoor space, and yet they found one for us, on the first floor, just above a noisy bar. No possibility to change the room of course. Just shut up and pay. The pillows are flat, room amenities are non-existent, our window had a big crack in it, and the soft close on the door was broken. In all, it's just pretty terrible.
