On the corner of Grasmere and Young Streets there is a small playground surrounded by a white…read morepicket fence and shady trees. During the week it is always packed with mothers, prams and little kids. There are swings for big kids and swings for the little ones, a white four horse seesaw I remember from my childhood, a whirl-a-round seat that's a bit hard to twist with more than one adult in there, two slides and a couple of different climbing apparatus. Only a five minutes walk from coffee shops it's a good for mums with prams that want to get together over a take away cuppa whilst their kids play outdoors. Unfortunately there are no bathrooms at this park so it's back to said cafes if the kids (or you) need the toilet.

Memorial Park is located next to the Alan Border Oval in Mosman. We considered this 'our' park for…read morea period of time when my son was 9 months to about 2 and we came to this playground twice a day AT LEAST. It's the perfect roaming spot for tiny tots. The playground is completely enclosed so as long as the gates are closed little ones are free to explore. There are 2 swings, 1 climbing frame, a cubby house, slide and a see-saw. The climbing frame has a wobbly bridge that is terrifying when your little one first learns to walk. I had to catch my adventurous mite on more than one occasion but it's good fun once they've mastered it. The park is frequented by friendly regulars and is very popular with Mothers Groups. The playground tends to be favoured by parents with younger children, though at 3pm Mosman Primary nearby descends and it can get a little hectic for an hour or so. It has a sunshade which is great but the late afternoon sun still pierces through and can make the babies slide VERY hot! The only real downside to this place is that the floor is made of wood chips and kids get filthy! It kinda goes with the territory but sand or foam are preferable (listen Councils!). No toilets. Picnic benches - though they're pretty bashed up.

Hodgson Lookout is on the upper level of Kurraba Reserve at the southern end of Kurraba Road and is…read moreone of the least well known reserves on this foreshore that has spectacular harbour and city views. The park is accessible by bus, ferry or car with limited street parking. It is a great picnc area with a custom designed playground and massive fig trees to shade from the heat of summer. Dogs are welcome on the Reserve but are not permitted within 10m of the playground. There is seating and even a water bubbler. On New Year's Eve it is one of the only parks where alcohol is not permitted as its focus on a safe environment for families to enjoy. In the 1800's this land use to belong to Port Jackson and Manly steam ship company's for ferry maintenance, the workshops closed in 1974 and the land was purchased by the State Government and Kurraba Reserve, therefore Hodgsons Lookout was created. In Spring, the Jacaranda's rain their purple flower like confetti in the streets surrounding the Reserve with a celebratory feeling of summer is nigh.

Hallstrom Park is built *into* the local nature, it's under a shade-dappled grove of trees and utilises the things in and around it to make a super unique park that the local kids lose their little 'nanas over. There's Elephant Rock and Gorilla Boulder, huge stones that have life-like animals carved into them which is fun, but they also have a speaker hidden in the bushes that plays jungle noises. What! How rad is that? There's a mini-race track for kids bicycles, a fossil are of old 'dinosaur bones', and heaps of slides and things to climb on, this thing could have been designed by Walter Burley Griffin it's so in sync with the environment. If you see a strange man lurking near the playground running an appreciative eye over the fixtures and fittings don't be alarmed, that's just me.

There are cooktops and plenty of rubbish bins. There's parking and nearby toilets which are also well maintained. Oh and it's dog friendly. The beach access is netted on one side so no pesky creatures can get in to eat the children. The sand is a little silty but it's clean. There's a pier from which children were daring each other to jump in the water. There's a water fountain and a shower to rinse your feet. Plus as we left and walked through the nearby neighborhood I met some lizard friends.

I don't know why this place isn't busier. It's just perfect. A harbourside beach reserve looking…read moreout to Chowder Bay that is dog friendly, has lots of open space, enclosed bathing area, a wharf that's popular for fishing, great picnic areas, brand new toilets and a fab playground to boot. The playground has sand flooring, great climbing structures, swings and even a disability swing. It's a complete mystery to me why it's so quiet during the week but perhaps that's why we love it so much. Parking is paid, which is fine for Mosman residenst with parking permits but a bit exxy otherwise. Bushwalks from the west end of the reserve are head around the Sydney Harbour National Park and though the start of the walk involves a number of steps once on the track it's pretty easy walking along well maintained track. There's an ice-cream van at the weekend and just over the beach is a Bacino Kiosk. Superb spot.

If you are after a location that has views of the harbour, specifically of heads of Sydney Harbour heads, then you will not find better than this. The views are stunning! The other amazing thing about this park is that only in a Australia would you put a cricket pitch in such an awesome location. Seems almost a waste. Though... if you are looking for the ultimate place to fly a kite in Sydney.... this is likely to be it. Another big plus about this park, especially if you have kids, is the enclosed play area (near the toilets), which also has a BBQ ready and waiting. This place is awesome and a must visit, especially if you have people in from out of town.

Just across the Spit and 10 mins from Manly, Tania sits perched precipitously atop a bushy tabletop headland looking over Sydney Harbour and out through the heads into open ocean (and the pirate's law that I'm led to believe is in force in international waters). I watched Jessica Watson sail her yacht The Pink Lady back into Sydney after her record-breaking round-the-world solo voyage as a sprightly 16 year old from here, one of the highlights of 2010. Cracking for walks, dates, sports, dates, and dates. (and hey, do you fly kites? Because if you do, this place is your damned nirvana yo.)

Many people come here to participate in watersports, so you will see many windsurfers, kayakers, and swimmers when you visit. There's also a shaded playground located behind the beach, which offers a great place for kids to play if they get tired of swimming or building sandcastles at the beach. It doesnt have the crowds that Balmoral Beach can get but on the rare occasion can be busy. Come and relax at Chinamens away from the maddening crowd.

This is a beautiful little playground in tranquil Mosman Bay. It has 2 climbing frames with slides,…read morea couple of rockers and 4 swings. The flooring is sand which is great as it's easier to clean off plus adds another dimension to play. The park really comes into its own on a hot summer afternoon as the sun is hidden by the steep hills that surround the bay. Gentle sea breezes from the harbour are welcome too. No toilets unfortunately but there are some at the Mosman Bay wharf which is a short walk away. There's a large grassed park next to the playground which is an unleashed dog area and very popular. It's also popular with those wanting a game of cricket or football which can make for some interesting dog/player interactions. Parking is free!

This was the location used for the starting area for the Sydney Marathon. The park looked to be well maintained with a nice view of the underside of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. One thing about the park was that it was slopped towards the harbour, so some of the portapotties weren't quite stable.

Great spot to fly a kite, have a picnic, enjoy outside and read a book.
