James and Mary Yule are getting it right! They are the originators of a great family business that…read morehas a clean conscience as well as a clean bill of health! Yule Organic is based at Penylan Farm in Dingestow, Monmouth, and is for me at least, what living in Wales is all about! They supply, 'freezer packs' of well-hung organic lamb and Aberdeen Angus beef to order, as well as producing the finest lamb rugs from their organic lambs. These are also organically tanned. Golden Lamb Rugs are essentially fleeces that are 'lovingly produced' from organically reared lambs that are biodynamically tanned locally to the highest levels of professionalism. Their website offers a boon of information, featuring all the good reasons to go organic... here's one of them: "On average, organic food contains higher levels of vitamin C and essential minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron and chromium as well as cancer-fighting antioxidants." And here's another: "Organic food doesn't contain food additives which can cause health problems such as heart disease, osteoporosis, migraines and hyperactivity. Amongst the additives banned by the Soil Association are hydrogenated fat, aspartame (artificial sweetener) and monosodium glutamate." And one more for luck: "Over 400 chemical pesticides are routinely used in conventional farming and residues are often present in non-organic food. The UK government has recently found high levels of pesticide residues in baby food, spinach, dried fruit, bread, apples, celery, and chips." I really enjoyed visiting this place and getting a few things for back home. The florals and plants…read morehere are amazing and well cared for. It's the perfect place for a Sunday relax day which we were doing. We had a little snack in the cafe as well before leaving and they have a nice selection of foods and desserts. I am however completely obsessed with this giant head statue they have and I wanted it so bad but I'm pretty sure it would be too large to ship to the states. Would look perfect in our back yard so if anyone knows where I can find this statue in the U.S. please message me and let me know lol!

I was torn between giving this a 3 or a 4 star rating. In actual fact I would give the garden…read morecentre and shop a 5 star review. We always make an afternoon of a visit over here to include stocking up on the garden bits and a few odds and ends for the house. We have always had excellent advice from the staff a the prices while not the cheapest are reasonable and the quality of the plants is always top drawer. So why the docking of two stars? The restaurant. Don't get me wrong, the food itself is actually very good both in terms of quality and the selection they have available. However, on two occasions now I have been told I can't have a roast beef sandwich because 'they can't do that'. Why not? You have bread, you have beef! 'Yes, well you see we don't do that.' I've asked 3 times and got one once - it was delicious but I take exception to petty jobsworths and so dock the points.
