Wandering around the Bodrum waterfront, we decided on Balkan Restaurant because of the nice view (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/balkan-restaurant-mu%C4%9Fla?select=btbMA9T-I7n53i0e3AZgdw#jjgqmLJpQprMI3rX-6E6tQ)
First out was a basket of thick flatbread (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/balkan-restaurant-mu%C4%9Fla?select=btbMA9T-I7n53i0e3AZgdw#REZJulzPHMnWsBOz6wBaYA)
Shrimp cocktail didn't offer much for the price with some small shrimp on a cup of iceberg lettuce with a bit of salad dressing (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/balkan-restaurant-mu%C4%9Fla?select=btbMA9T-I7n53i0e3AZgdw#CgfPSdSXjDB9O3-cGBxb_A)
Mezze sampler plate was dominated by whole pepper (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/balkan-restaurant-mu%C4%9Fla?select=btbMA9T-I7n53i0e3AZgdw#VoEgHGnmYbcQB17y9XgSLg). The eggplant had a good smokey flavor. The cheese stuffed peppers which were medium spicy (green items in center of picture) were our favorite of the items.
We ordered the Çökertme Kebab based on the waiter's recommendation that it was a regional specialty (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/balkan-restaurant-mu%C4%9Fla?select=btbMA9T-I7n53i0e3AZgdw#TvPdS1rIL7OqvSnHDrOo7A). The beef was cooked with a tomato sauce and there were French fries and tomato wedges on top along with matchstick potatoes and yogurt sauce underneath(http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/balkan-restaurant-mu%C4%9Fla?select=btbMA9T-I7n53i0e3AZgdw#AJJBH84jEcWqXZphONjatQ). Tasty yogurt. Mostly tender meat with a few tough pieces. Good flavor overall; I would order this again.
Service was lacking with a long wait before they took our order and difficult times trying to get water refills and the check.
3.5 stars for the food. Rounding down for the service. read more
