I'm not 100% sure how you write a review of your ol' college, but here it goes:…read more I thought long and hard about giving BW a less than perfect star rating due to things I'm a little bitter about (*cough* school loan debt *cough* no jobs after college *cough*) but then I realized all those things had nothing to do with the great experience I had here. I'll explain: After high school I went to John Carroll. I have no idea why, other than it had a pretty campus, but everything else fell flat for me there. It just wasn't the school for me. I was looking for a warm, social environment with great professors and ratings. So I transferred and found that at BW! (And yes, I went there when it was BWC, not this University stuff they have going on now... but I digress.) Overall, I had a complete and utter blast in college (met my very best friend!), which was exactly what I wanted. The broadcasting dept. was just getting started with their TV program, BuzzTV and my advisor got me right into higher level journalism classes I couldn't get into at JCU (mostly because they didn't even have a good broadcasting program there when I went.) It was nice to get right into classes that actually had something to do with my dream career. Additionally the professors didn't waste any time telling us exactly what it was going to be like "out there," which gave me a much better idea of what I was getting myself into. The few liberal arts classes I did have to take were MY CHOICE--which was refreshing. Like, in my case, I didn't want to take a foreign language so I had the option of taking some pretty sweet history/religion courses that fulfilled those requirements. I absolutely could not get enough of these courses, especially since I got to choose one of my favorite profs. The housing, food, and meal card situation was pretty nice--especially since surrounding restaurants accepted our meal cards. The bookstore had tons of electronics which sort of chiseled away at my food funds, but whatever. The books themselves can get pricey and there's no off-campus stores that offer used books--so that sucked. They did offer a buyback program that only half raped you, so that was nice. Parking would be one of my only gripes, but when is that ever really nice unless you're an upper classman? Just watch out for those pesky campus parking tickets... lol. Plus, the campus is relatively small and the buildings are all within close walking distance. Greek life (I know I'm losing half of you here) was awesome. I loved the social aspect and you can't beat the Alpha Phis! Clearly I was interested in more of the social aspect of school... but I did maintain my grades and even made it to some classes (probably hungover, but who's judging?) Things I wish I would have spent more time with: The Career Department. I just didn't hear much about it when I was there and it looked so small--but I hear from other folks that it's actually pretty good. For me? It didn't help--I only made like 2 visits. I was still stuck in the mindset that I was going to become a reporter right out of college... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! #fail Then again, I have a much better job now than I could have ever imagined. (*wink, wink*)

Baldwin Wallace University is a nice college campus. I visited in May 2026 when a friend invited me…read moreand a few others to go eat with him at their dining hall since he had some meal plans left. I came on the last Friday of the semester (last day of classes). I came during lunch time and arrived alone as the other friends invited couldn't come. When I arrived on campus, there were signs leading me to Strosacker Hall which is where I needed to go. I appreciated the big parking lot which is free. I entered Durst Welcome Center to get help leading me to the entrance of Strosacker Hall and the student worker was helpful in directing me at which point I found my friend. I visited Strosacker Hall (Student Union building) which is where the dining hall is. The options for lunch were quite good. I chose rice and beef which came with green and red peppers. I also got apple juice, a cookie, and a small red velvet Bundt cake. I left full and satisfied. My friend enjoys being an undergraduate student here so if you are looking for a small liberal arts University then go and visit the campus of Baldwin Wallace and meet some staff members. They offer bachelor and masters degree programs in addition to certificate programs. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 83/250 total reviews in 2026 - 924 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 15 May 2026

I read Peter B's review with dismay as it describes nothing I have remotely experienced or…read morewitnessed at the Gestalt Institute of Cleveland. I have attended several workshops and also completed the Coach Certification and Gestalt Training programs. I have been blown away by the ethics, commitment, and quality of the GIC staff and faculty. The GIC I know is one of the most open and supportive learning environments I have encountered. Actually, I value what I've learned there more than what I learned in my MBA program. The dozens of fellow students I have connected with at GIC have expressed the same sentiment. We all have been amazed at the personal growth and professional development that have been transformative for us. My only regret about the GIC is that I did not discover it earlier in my career (and life). If you are thinking about studying at GIC try an introductory workshop and/or talk to former students to decide for yourself.

The experiential work which is led by the GIC's faculty is transformative. I have been to two…read moreworkshops at the Gestalt Institute and I am about to graduate from the 20 month Gestalt training program. My experiences at Gestalt have been very powerful catalysts of positive change for me, in an extraordinary variety of ways - my coaching, my teaching, my writing and my personal life. I see there is a very negative review here. It appears the individual concerned had an unsually painful experience. It is important to know that while this does happen it is very rare. Group work is powerful and can stir up a lot of feelings. It is advisable to be in individual therapy alongside group work. In my experience at the institute, faculty are very careful to respect boundaries and not to push participants beyond their comfort. It is true that historically some Gestalt therapists, including Fritz Perls, were not so careful about respecting client resistances. Today, the culture at the institute is much more careful. Faculty will often step in to check with participants about their level of comfort and need for support and whether they wish to proceed. On rare occasions, where needed, I have also seen them step in to protect people if others are pushing too far or projecting onto them. However, it is obviously impossible for faculty to police everything that participants say to each other in group. Also, the work is often deeply personal and so can be painful or create feelings of vulnerability. For instance, some individuals may feel injured when their need to project onto others is interrupted by faculty who need to balance their need with the need of other participants to feel safe. Gestalt faculty have varied backgrounds - they may be psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, coaches, phd's, professors or work primarily with organizations. All have, in addition, gone through extensive Gestalt training. Faculty at the institute bring broad and deep training and experience in many areas. I have a PhD in psychology, twenty years of experience doing psychology and neuroscience research, I am a board certified coach with training from another coaching center, and I am a tenured professor who gets very good teaching reviews. I have a great deal of respect for Gestalt Institute faculty from what I have seen about how they operate. I know many other professionals feel the same way about the institute. It is an internationally recognized center - people come to it from across the USA and even abroad. It is a wonderful local resource for Cleveland. I strongly recommend that you take the opportunity to try out a workshop. It isn't for everyone, but it is absolutely transformative for many. Who would want to pass up on the chance to positively transform their life and relationships?
