Wow, it seems like this library isn't very popular that it's going 13 years since Michael wrote the…read morefirst review and now here's me. That's a bummer as reading is fundamental and having a quiet place to work is also super important. I was here at the library for close to four hours (couldn't ignore my stomach any longer) pounding away at work emails, dialing in to Zoom calls and generally being productive. It was awesome to have a study room where I could make a little bit of noise that perhaps I couldn't have done if I was out in the main part of the library. They have lots of workstations here for people to browse the internet. Of course, the usual fiction, non-fiction, periodicals, reference and other library sections. The wifi works great and there are some power outlets around. [Review 19832 overall - 308 in Arkansas - 805 of 2023.]

Garland County Library: Quite Literally the Best Library Ever…read more The Garland County Library isn't just a library -- it's a full‑blown community powerhouse, and honestly one of the best public libraries I've ever experienced. This place does everything, and it does it with heart, creativity, and an energy you don't usually see in a public institution. First of all, the programming is unreal. Their calendar is packed with events for every age group -- kids, teens, adults, families, homeschoolers, gamers, crafters, book clubs, music lovers, STEM fans, and more. You can walk in on any given day and find something happening: storytime, chess club, art workshops, community education, live music, after‑hours events, even bookmobile visits around the county. It feels less like a library and more like a vibrant cultural hub. The staff is another standout. They're friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping people -- whether you're looking for a book, exploring digital media, or using their "Ask a Librarian" service You can tell they care about the community and want everyone to feel welcome. And the resources? Top‑tier. Books, digital media, databases, a student portal, downloadable content, and a beautifully organized catalog system that makes everything easy to find. The building itself is bright, inviting, and thoughtfully designed -- a perfect place to read, study, work, or just unwind. It's the kind of library that makes you want to stay awhile. Garland County Library isn't just good. It's exceptional. It's the kind of place that makes you proud to live in Hot Springs.

The parking is great. They have a lot designated for library goers. If you are attending the story time they provide you with a free parking pass for up to 2 hours. Which I didn't know but I'll remember for next time. The library is clean and well organized. I love that the kids area is separate from the other parts of the library; it's on the 3rd floor. The kids area was well organized and I love that they allowed the children to be themselves and play. The librarian we spoke with was really nice. She assisted my son with finding basketball books. They had plenty of books to choose from, they also had plenty of games for the kids to play until story time started. Story time was okay. The lady was very friendly to the children and seemed to really enjoy them and knew how to keep them engaged. She didn't seem very organized but her stories + songs were engaging. Overall nice library.

But, unfortunately I have an unpleasant experience when I'm outside the study carrels and sometimes they're full and I can't get one. The staff is amazing and it's an amazing establishment, but you have to get the real answers on here. They're inconsiderate of anyone else in the room, they smell to high heaven, they're aggressive and like to stare, and to top it off some of them will try to peddle shit on you. I once had this squirrelly little guy try to get me to buy some iPhone he stole, despite the fact I have one out and charging on the desk I'd been at. It's generally an unpleasant place to go to unless you can lock yourself inside the study carrels or you're just going to pick up a book.

It's got a section for teenagers and a large section for children in the basement that will make children feel like they've visited a special place, just for them. The staff was able to help us make library cards, which is easy, as long as you have copy of your ID on you and we were able to try out the computers and explore the books and find our first 3 (Limited to 3 the first time you check out, but 10 or 20 after that) books and are excited to read them and return them, so we can revisit and check out from this library again. This place is absolutely worth checking out and they also provide a lot of community activities you can get involved in and have a neat walking trail out front with statues of animals we want to walk down when the weather warms up.
