The past few months have made a simple grocery store trip an exercise in anxiety and survival style hunting of basic staples. So when I read about Baldor making residential deliveries of high quality gourmet food items, I jumped on it! They reduced their minimum delivery order to $200 and will truck it down in a refrigerated trailer to Philly & SJ now. (Caveat: be there for delivery as they will leave it on step & also the truck is really big for those on small side streets). I splurged for Memorial Day weekend and pre-ordered a bunch of goodies. I picked my day in advance and everything was delivered by 11:30 am this morning. I even found a 20% off promo code for first purchase online. A lot of the items are restaurant bulk purchases, but I found plenty to order that was normal sized. I took photos of some of my picks. The tomatoes alone are making my day. Website can be a little slow. Still no complaints. We received everything and they made good substitutions for out of stock items. Got some delicious bakery items as well. read more

They have a real problem with their delivery drivers. They are nasty and disrespectful. They don't care if they block a whole road and just tell everyone to go around. The one I had a problem with was at Ivarone in Woodbury at 3:30 on 5/11. I wish someone would have a talk with that driver about the rules of the road. read more

Disrespectful drivers that continuously park in front of our car so we can't get to work or to school. I have to start morning off by tracking down some random delivery guy in a restaurant and ask him to move. When I see a restaurant uses Baldor probably won't even eat there I'm so turned off by their drivers entitlement. Baldor, a wholesale grocery distributor who previously only delivered to restaurants in the New York City area have expanded to people like you and me due to COVID-19. Yes they are now providing retail sales to those 50 miles from the Bronx for a $200 min order. When I first heard of this I was so excited to get a chance to "look" inside their warehouse and try the products first hand. I have now had delivery twice and both times I was extremely impressed. Now due to the nature of their business a lot of their products come in bulk. That is perfect if you have a large family or can share with your parents, siblings or friends. They also have items you can get as singles such as one broccoli, one bunch of asparagus, one cantaloupe. However for apples the minimum is 20 just as an example. We have very much enjoyed their chicken which arrives either cut up or whole based on your request and in a big plastic bag unlike the supermarket where it's individually packaged. The green beans were fantastic, the peppers fresher than fresh, great selections of fruit and delicious orange juice. I could go on and on. But definitely check them out it's a gr alternative to heading out to the supermarkets. read more

Two stars because they were amazing during the pandemic. Now, I can't even get them to refund a missing item a missing item that even the delivery person caught. Service reps just say whatever to get you off the phone or flat out tell you it's your error. Stopped ordering from them after the second time they just left $100+ of produce or restaurant supplies in my lobby for a local business and told me to deal it. read more

Delivery service is very good and some items are great. Problem is that I seem to get too many items out of date code or rotted produce. In almost every delivery there is something out of date code or over the hill. They are quick to not charge me for those items if I call them but after a while it is ridiculous, embarrassing and I cannot count on receiving items I need quickly. A year ago I received a case of delicious Valencia oranges. I purchase a second case because the first one was so good. The second case of oranges were dirty, moldy, mildew, seeds embedded in the rind and mushy. I wondered how old they were. Just awful . Expensive too which was not a problem for good quality produce. I waited a year and ordered them again in peak season. A year later received oranges repacked into a Baldors box and not from a particular orange orchards. Disgusting mushy oranges with a couple of very green molded ones in the middle. I doubt these items would be sold to a commercial customer. They would loose that customer for repeatedly shipping items that in a normal store would be in the trash. And oranges are just one example. Similar issues with other produce and deli meat. I wonder if they use retail customers to get rid of their out of date code or rotted produce that would cause them to loose more important commercial customers. Great items however it lacks reliability. If you are going to order, request delivery way in advance. They left me scrambling last Thanksgiving and again on mother's day. I placed an order on Monday for Wednesday's delivery. I RECEIVED CONFIRMATION that items had been ordered and yet they didn't deliver a whole box of items important to my final product. I understand things happen and they run out but no notification of item unavailability? What an I supposed to do now that time is of the essence? read more

In the early, chaotic days of the COVID-19 pandemic, we experienced tremendous anxiety about the food supply chain. Prior to the pandemic, we shopped in-person at several local supermarkets -- Wegmans, Whole Foods, ShopRite, etc. -- but the uncertainty we all experienced during the late Winter and Spring about transmission of the virus by touch or airborne particles until science caught up with the virus encouraged us to try grocery home delivery services. We initially used Wegmans (powered by Instacart) and Whole Foods services and had vaguely disappointing experiences with both services -- items we ordered on-line were often out-of-stock or replaced with substitute items by our shopper without notice when our order was fulfilled and the freshness and quality of the produce selected by our shopper wasn't up to our standards. Any complaints to the services when they failed to live up to our expectations went unanswered or were dismissed by the customer service reps without any empathy or consideration. A friend of mine recommended Baldor, which has long supplied restaurants in the New York Metropolitan area and had recently started offering home delivery to offset some of their business lost when restaurants cut back on their orders. Back in those early days of the pandemic, Baldor initially required a $250 minimum order for delivery, primarily offered a limited selection of staple products in bulk warehouse club sizes that catered to their commercial customers, and had a website that seemed to be designed by Geocities. On the other hand, they offered fresh, high-quality, locally-sourced produce, meat, poultry, fish, and other products delivered right to my door via refrigerated truck and offered excellent customer service -- acknowledging any mistakes with a quick credit to our purchase. As 2020 wore on, Baldor upgraded their website to make shopping easier and giving more information about the source of the items they offer, expanded the range of products they offer, began to stock smaller sizes better suited for a family than your local pizzeria, and decreased the minimum order to $200. We're big fans of the locally-sourced products distributed by Baldor -- particularly the Pierless seafood (try the Poke Perfection Bowl!) and Partner's coffee beans. We have gotten into a comfortable routine of placing a delivery order from Baldor once every three or four weeks to stock the refrigerator / freezer and picking up more perishable items once every week or so.. and expect this may be one pandemic-inspired behavior that sticks around long after the pandemic has passed. read more

The delivery isn't always perfect - as there are some occasional mispicked items, but the customer service follow-up ALWAYS takes care of any issues. I placed an order for the day before Thanksgiving (which was kind of my bad as I would have preferred delivery on the Tuesday before) but the order went out WITHOUT the turkey. They just emailed me after the order went out and told me that it would be delivered later and indeed, the turkey was delivered later that afternoon, saving me a last minute trip to the grocery store for turkey. I also love that Baldor Foods has a great selection of things that are hard to find (specialty produce, vacuum pack meats, etc.) and I like that they partner with local farmers and restaurants to supply foods. Sometimes I wish that they would sell some things in smaller quantities, but that's a pretty minor quibble given the selection and customer service. read more

I cannot overstate how happy we have been since we started using Baldor this past month. Despite everything going on around us, the delivery has been prompt and well packaged, the food fresh, and the drivers courteous. We were reluctant to try it--their business is (in normal times) for restaurants, but they are open to home delivery now (minimum $250), and we split our order with family members. We will miss them when things get close to back to normal. I almost want to keep quiet about them--I don't want them to be overwhelmed. read more

3 times in a row the delivery has been after 7pm and as late as 9:30pm. The advertised window is 8am-5pm. Do not expect an on-time delivery and don't trust the guidance given by the sales reps. Food is good quality, but delivery service is terrible. read more

Very bad experience with them. They just did not deliver the order . Left me waiting twelve hours for them. I am cancelling my account with them because this is really the 4th or 5th time this has happened since 2019. Also what is up with Yelp? Good news. This place is great for being on time and for the quality of produce. Let me explain. Placed my first order during the CONVID pandemic period where delivery supply chains were somewhat compromised. I was expecting delivery issues and would have understood but these guys were spot on timely, Delivery gentleman was beyond pleasant. I am usually a Fairway and Trader Joe's shopper to give you perspective but unboxing the Baldor order enlightened me to a new level of quality control. you will probably have to buy more than you would for a family of two at other places but each item seems to be hand picked for you. Doubt if one item was damaged i would have complained as i am so thankful Boldor got me food delivered in these most difficult times, I will shop from them going forward. read more

There delivery drivers like to tailgate you. On Saturday August 31st at 2:30 I was driving on route 44 coming into Winsted Ct. I was going 55 in a 50 speed limit on they were right on my tail for about 4 miles until I got to the first light in Winsted where they proceeded to get about Two feet from my bumper. I gave them the one finger salute to thank them for their courteous driving. They should have their CDLs pulled. read more

Baldor Foods has been such an incredible hidden gem. I was struggling with finding a delivery slot from my local supermarket, Fresh Direct, Whole Foods, Amazon Grocery, etc. A friend mentioned Baldor and I checked them out. Firstly, they have availability for delivery within a day or two, which is fantastic. Secondly, and actually most important, their selection is massive. They have everything I would ever need and other things I hadn't even thought of. The quality of their produce is top notch and rivals Whole Foods. Only thing to keep watch for is that they are primarily a supplier for restaurants. They opened up to the general public when the restaurant business slowed down during the pandemic. That being said, you have to keep an eye on the quantity / size of product you are buying. A lot of products are meant to serve the needs of restaurants, so a 5 pound bag of shredded cheese might be a bit much for you. 95% of the time, they offer a smaller size of the item to suit a consumer's needs, you just have to keep a keen eye and keep scrolling so you don't buy more than you need. At times I have bought the large size of items that have a long shelf life or freeze well. Highly recommend and they have been excellent. They also require an order minimum of $200, so probably best utilized for your larger shopping trip. read more

These people are absolutely crazy. I waited for two days for a delivery and they totally gave me the runaround. Finally they told me it had been sent to a town with a similar name to my my town but in a different state but did I still want it? Of course I said no and days later they are still trying to tell me that it WAS delivered. I have never experienced such terrible customer service. Do not buy from them. read more

So many other services deliver subpar produce and they need a huge window of time. Baldor delivers on time within a short window - seriously, its amazing!!
