History

Established in 1990.

Since opening our doors in 1990, BALCO Uniform has grown from a small family-owned business in Williston, North Dakota, to a leading supplier of uniforms across the Country. Marti Liudahl’s leadership from 1995 set us on a path of growth and innovation, building lasting customer relationships that are still strong today. In 2002, Marti’s son Jake and his wife Shawna joined the business, bringing fresh perspectives and passion. By 2004, the company transitioned ownership to Jake and Shawna, while proudly maintaining our Woman-Owned Business certification. In 2013, BALCO expanded with a second store in Bozeman, Montana. Despite the economic challenges that led to the closure of our Williston physical location in 2015, our commitment to serving customers has never wavered.

Meet the Business Owner: Jake L.

My wife and I have owned BALCO Uniform since 2004. The company has been in my family since 1990 and back then, I was thinking about college instead of working with my parents. After a stint at Montana State University and a year on the Bobcat football team, I'll decided to take a year off to travel with the non-profit organization, "Up with People". One year off turned into seven and I was knee deep into the real world. Up with People closed their doors in Dec. 2000, and I went to work for Denver Auto and Diesel College as an admissions rep. I was transferred up to Helena, MT to recruit hard working Montana students and then the BALCO Uniform chapter began. Shawna and I, along with our two little ones moved back home to Williston, ND to dive into the family business. After training, attending conventions, and diving into the daily business, we bought the company and have built the business bigger and bigger every year. We have since moved to Bozeman, MT where we are thriving!
