I met the teacher and she is very supportive cares for them all making sure all students have a great learning experience. Ms Niemela has shown my son support and encouragement with a positive approach. As a parent I feel confident and comfortable knowing my son is in a better school and environment. I probably should've wrote this review a long time ago but this school's principal plays favorites and does not care for every child the same. Admittedly, I know I was a problem child during my time in this school and I have caused issues here and there, but the principal here just doesn't treat every child the same and basically gave me little to no respect as a kid. I really did want to try and be better, but her attitude and "under her breath" responses did not help me, whatsoever. She would give me side eyes and attitude with tone and she clearly had it for me and some of my classmates at the time I was here. For a school principal, she really lacks respect for the kids who attend this school, especially since their parents pay her salary. Students, on the other hand, it is a very mixed bag. For me, I just do not think the classroom environment a lot of the time felt welcoming at all. A good portion of my time here, I did not feel welcome nor did I ever feel like I belonged, no matter how hard I tried, especially if your child is a very hyper individual. The school, itself, is just fine and during my time here, the only real positive I have for the school are the teachers. The teachers were basically the main highlight and made me want to continue my education and a lot of their words and lessons still impact me to this day. I do think the staff of the school care deeply for the students, except for the principal. Parents, you are better off sending your child elsewhere if you don't want your child feeling like they don't belong somewhere. Honestly, I just wish my time and memories of this school was just a lot more pleasant.

It is a specialty school for kids who need a more comfortable environment to learn. The staff is amazing and professional and friendly. We make the kids feel relaxed. I'm only here to comment about the field hockey rink and not the school itself. I know nothing…read moreabout the academics or faculty that are there. My daughter plays field hockey for the school district. There are several schools that play the sport. Unfortunately, the only school in the entire district that has a field hockey rink is Castle Park High School. Most sports that are played, the students will travel to different schools and play their sport. Unfortunately, every team has to play at this high school. That is really kind of sad that no other school can build a rink. So I give major props to Castle Park High for maintaining the rink and enabling students to play their games! The only negative thing I see, which is a big one, is there is barely any seating for spectators. We have to stand. They need to build a major bleacher area like they have in Sunset Park. And also should put plexiglass around the bottom area of the fencing so that way hockey pucks don't breakthrough and hurt spectators. I personally think that ALL the schools that play the sport should pitch in and help Castle Park build the bleachers since they all use the skating rink. It's only the right thing to do. So if you're in the area... Go check out a game and support these youngsters.

My daughter was bullied and attacked enough to cause bruises. Knots in her forehead and dirt thrown in her hair and face. With no consequences to the bully. After several investigations they did find that the child was bullying my daughter- but due to privacy laws that protect bullies - apparently I can't know what those consequences are. So if you want to ever feel safe for your child, find a neighboring school. Tragic. Even though now we jus transferred her school I can't help but feel sadden by the way things were handle or lack their of. Theirs no real structure or safety plans- rather only being told " what do you want to do "..... as confusing as it was that they allow this to continue when I had time after time said this is what is happening please watch out for my child- the bully was still allowed to follow my daughter and increasingly hurt and attack her, mostly because their was no real punishment (mind you their in kindergarten) or consequences. this lax attitude from staff and principal is what allowed it to continue and get worst day by day. no sense of urgency or justice for my sweet girl.
