I like to think of this place as Bella's Food Scourge as it can literally be torturous choosing just one - or at most two - of the incredible looking Asian/Indian dishes on offer.
A canteen style cafe on Fitzroy's Brunswick Street, Bella's Food Scourge is a cheap and cheerful little place with a mixture of Bohemian style low lying tables adorned with embroidered throws and more traditional - i.e. normal person height and less embellished - seating.
Offering curries spanning Thai, Indian and more cuisines and drinks including as mango lassies and the like, a massive meal will set you back about $11 - depending on whether you choose a vegetarian or more carnivorous option - which makes this place one of the cheapest spots for a tasty fill in Brunswick.
I particularly like Bala's delicious butter chicken, which is so rich and creamy you tend to have to take some home. A great place for a quick - if insalubrious - meal, if you're gluttonous for anything other than punishment you'll love Bala's. read more
