Recently I purchased an aftermarket rubber strap for one of my watches from Delugs (online watch…read moreband retailer). The strap had integrated quick connect pins, but wasnt fitting my watch lugs even though Delugs was advertising the strap was compatible with my watch. I went to the watch repair store on the second floor of Macys hoping that they could get the strap and pins inserted, but they werent able to. I did a Google search and came across the highly rated Simpson Watch Service. Reuben (Owner) was able to take the pins that came with the strap out and inserted pins that he already had in his shop. He then took the time to size the strap on my wrist and put together the butterfly deployment clasp (this particular strap was a bit complicated). I was very happy with the end result. I had been annoyed when I first bought the strap and couldn't get it on myself...I was worried I had bought something I wouldn't even be able to pair with the watch and had even contemplated sending the strap back, but Reuben got it. As Reuben was working on my watch we talked about various topics from small businesses like his surviving the Covid pandemic, to his opinion on Tudor reliability, to vintage Omegas...Very rare to find a watch maker like Reuben. Most watch "service" places exist in malls or in a jewelry store where the person there just swaps batteries or if it gets too complicated, they just ship the watch back to the manufacturer...Simpson Watch Service goes way beyond that...Thats evident when you walk in the shop and see the various clocks and watches...I am a believer in supporting small business owners, especially those with niche services like this. If you have a significant issue with your watch or simply need a band or battery def go see Reuben.

We went there after Tanishq recommended us to go there for a small jewelry watch fix…read more The store smells of some weird chemical! It was pretty strong. Mr. Harshad first asked if we speak Hindi. (Why does that matter?) Secondly, we asked the cost for repair and he came up with a # randomly. There is no fixed cost based on service. (People that speak Hindi can probably bargain) He then fixed the watch and didn't give the parts removed. We had to ask for it and he gave those tiny parts in hand not even wrapped in a paper or a ziploc! He didn't provide any receipt or bill for the transaction. Lastly, this is the last straw that broke the camel's back! He asked a very very personal question to me and my husband which I can t post here! It was very unethical and unprofessional! Do not go here if you cannot speak Hindi and if you expect professionalism!

WTF - Can't even remove links from a Seiko watchband…read more.. ----------------- I was excited to receive a Seiko kinetic watch as an early Christmas gift. However, I needed to have a few links removed. So, why not go to this fine establishment to get the job done? BECAUSE THEY WILL JACK UP YOUR WATCH, THAT'S WHY. For a self-billed precision watch repair company, they are CLUELESS when it comes to a simple task of removing links from a major manufacturer's watchband. The first time I was there, it took two guys close to an hour of hammering (yes, hammering!) to resize the watch. Needless to say, this did not inspire confidence. (Let's ignore the fact they didn't follow the taper lines when they removed the links, and there is a small but noticeable "step off" on one side of the watchband. And several links are scuffed / scratched.) Wouldn't you know it, FOUR DAYS LATER, a pin popped out, and the watchband popped open. The solution? Another hour wasted at the store, only to find out the middle-aged guy (?manager) jammed an oversized generic pin replacement. So now, it's holding - because two links are immobilized (due to the oversized pin). He gave some cock and bull story about how Seiko watches have difficult pins, etc etc. How would I know, as I'm not in the watch business. BUT THEY ARE - SO WTF DID YOU PROCEED TO RESIZE THE WATCH IF YOU KNEW THIS?!?! Epic Fail.

I can not say enough GREAT things about this place. I have been using them for years…read more First, the staff are genuinely nice and caring people. They remember your face even if it has been a while since seeing you last. (They even still have a thank you note I wrote them 8+ years ago!) They make you feel at home in their shop and they take care of your jewelry as if it was their own. Secondly, they take great pride in the work they do, as they should! They are perfectionists who make sure your jewelry gets the attention it needs and deserves. I had them restore my husband's grandfather's pocket watch for our wedding. Although this was something they couldn't fix while you wait they kept me informed throughout the process. They were able to get the watch up and running again and cleaned it up so it looked brand new again! I was so impressed that I then had them engrave it for me. The look on my husband's face when I gave it to him was priceless. Such a wonderful memory to have. Next, they are quick and thorough with the work that they do. I brought them a couple of broken chains, a broken watch band and the watch also needed a new battery. They had it all fixed within a half an hour and they had it all shined and cleaned up. I hadn't noticed that the lock on the watch band was loose and they told me that they fixed that for me as well! They also cleaned up my wedding and engagement rings while I paid. They do all of this with great pride, attention to detail, in a timely manner and it is all done at a VERY reasonable price. A few years back I moved out of the Metuchen/Edison area. I tried to find someone close to my new house who could do the work that they do. NO ONE compared! Not price nor quality. From now on I will take the drive to the people I trust!
