It's pretty hard to find a bar in Milan that serves Craft beer and looks to have good food. In need of some real food, I opted to have a burger in Italy. The burger, the surf and turf was good. Lots of crayfish bursting out. Overall, it was a decent burger but I'm not sure whether the beef or the fish was the star and thus the burger while tasted good didn't shine. What did shine were the chips/crisps. It's a large order to share and it tastes delicious. The beer though, was a good selection. One thing is I had to ask for the bar menu. Perhaps they just assumed I'd be happy with looking at the taps. The service, informative, polite, patient, though not overly friendly. I'd go again if not just for the beer and chips. read more

Great place! Excellent beer (so my husband said), and I can attest that their one cider is really good. The chips/crisps are spectacular, and if I hadn't been so full from eating a bunch of gelato before I arrived I definitely would have had more food. Great service and a nice ambiance. Having "suffered" through two weeks of pasta and pizza up and down Italy, the moglie (this is seriously 'wife' in Italian?) and I were looking for something a bit different...like a g.d. HAMBURGER. Enter: Baladin, a brewpub-type chain that seemed to have a few locations around Europe. I had read the rave yelp reviews for Baladin in Rome, but didn't have the chance to stop by. So what luck (!) that a new location should open in Milan. Not a very large space (based on my North American-expectations of a chain brewery), this place was humming at 9 pm on a Sunday. Interior was rustic, wooden, and inviting. Service was so-so, with only a lone waiter in charge of taking orders, but food came out promptly. Being a dumbass, and eager to get drunk, I ordered the 'spillatore' for 20 euros. I assumed naively that this was a flight of beers, and would offer a sampling of their ten-or-so draughts. Good idea, right? Had I internet access (or had I paid more attention to the waiter's not-bad-not-great English) I would have learned that a spillatore is actually a 2 litre mini-keg. Worse (okay, actually 'better'), the beer of choice was a delicious amber brew weighing in at 8% abv! Suffice it to say, we tackled this 'grievous error' head-on, and were quickly three sheets to the wind. In any case, the food: the hamburger was phenomenal. And I'm not saying that because I was quickly on my way to inebriation - the straight-up cheeseburger (there are many fancier burgers you can order) was fantastic. The meat was juicy, succulent, and oh so flavourful. It was so good I ordered another. The moglie's fish and chips were meh. Whatever fish they used didn't seem to hold up to the rigours of their deep fryer, and I've had better back home. Good times. read more

Having been to the Open Baladin restaurant in Rome a few weeks ago I was pretty excited to give this one a try. We checked the hours before heading over and decided to grab a late lunch/early dinner, around 5:30pm. On Yelp and the store front the hours register that the place should be open but no one was there and the doors were locked although the sign and seats were still outside. I figured they may close until dinner hours so we waited out until after 7pm. As luck would have it they were open! (On the menu the hours do show that it's closed from 3:30 to 6:30 but it's not updated anywhere else) When we got there and sat down the table that we were at was pretty dirty, I was hoping that the server would wipe it down when he came over but apparently he didn't notice. In fact, I don't think they wiped down any of the tables. We got little paper mats for our table so that was sufficient enough, I guess. The beer selection is decent but no where near as extensive as the location in Rome. The beer I got, Nazionale, was good - smooth and flavorful - that was about the only thing I'd go back for. I ordered one of the speciality burgers and I asked for it to be medium-well, when my burger arrived it was medium-rare to rare. I asked a for it to be cooked just a bit more so it could be medium-well and when it came back it was well done. Overall the burger was pretty bland and there wasn't anything about it that would make me want to visit Baladin again. Such a pity because Open Baladin in Roma was bomb. This place I could definitely pass. There's a lot of other interesting restaurants nearby to try rather than settle for mediocre burgers. read more

The beer was great which is what they specialize in. I got a sider and hubby got the blonde ale. They are also known for the chips/fried potatoes, which comes in different flavors and were also really tasty. The food on the other hand, not so great... Maybe it's my American taste buds but I doubt it. I got the fish burger that was a mixture of salmon and cod. It honestly was not the greatest thing I ate, maybe it was my excitement over how good it sounded on the menu that set me up for disappointment. Anywho, they have English menus which was great since Google translate was a bit shaky. My hubby had the Tex Mex chicken sandwich, and he said it was alright 7 out of 10. It had an avocado spread on it and the meat was moist. He liked it and he's a picky eater. read more

Some of the best fries I ever had. Burger was great too. Everything we had was great including the deserts and the service. If you want an amazing meal that doesn't include pasta or pizza, I recommend this place highly. read more

First off, the fries were amazing. They came with their own homemade catch up which was deeeeeelicious. My boyfriend and I have been traveling Italy eating mainly pizza and pasta and we're looking for some good ol hardy meat. We both got burgers. He loved his and I thought mine was very good. They could use a different bun, it kind of overpowers the meat. But still very delicious. If you are having the same craving we were having Baladin is a must. read more

Establishment did not have A/C in 92 degree weather. They didn't have it on because there were no customers and its was not a busy day. They didn't have fish and chips and we were limited on choices. We couldn't finish our meals due to be so hot inside. Didn't know if the food was delicious because the heat was unbearable. read more

This is a pub with eating available. The burger was just an average burger, nothing special to write home about. Staff were very kind and the inside of the pub is a nice place to go for casual eating or a cold beer. Didn't know there was an upstairs. All in all, an acceptable burger served with a cold beer. 13€ for a plain hamburger and pint of beer. Not so cheap. read more
