What Baker Insurance Group does not tell you is they get kick-backs for removing people from Medicare coverage. Even though you will continue to pay Medicare part A and B premiums, when you are signed up for one of their "Medicare Advantage" plans, you are dropped from all Medicare coverage. While you may receive minimal dental, vision and prescription drug coverage, your medical coverage is decimated. With Humana, my annual maximum out-of-pocket amount went from $240 to $6000, and my coinsurance rate significantly increased. But far worse than that, you may not find a doctor that will see you at all. Humana is not accepted by a huge number of providers that accept Medicare. Furthermore, Humana misinformed me that a provider was in-network, and failed to pay for services clearly covered by my policy. Humana did not even respond to a grievances I filed against them. The other terrible choice Baker Insurance Group pushes is Ambetter. Baker Insurance told my wife that she can continue to see her primary care doctor. However, this was not correct and she had a terrible time even making a routine preventative care appointment. There are very few providers in Washington that accept Ambetter and the ones that do appear to be only poorly rated second-tier providers. After you are signed up, Baker Insurance Group has demonstrated that they will not assist you, regardless of how egregious the actions are of the insurance company they signed you up with. For you own sake, do your own research and be careful. Ask who someone represents and how they make their money. If they do not give you a straight answer, walk away. If you are told a provider is in-network, don't assume that is correct. Get verifiable conformation from both the provider and the insurance company. This can save you a lot of time and money in the long run. I gave Teresa Baker ample opportunity to respond to my review prior to posting it and she declined. read more

For me, buying life insurance was way down on my priority list because I frankly thought that talking to an agent would be like talking to a car salesman. I found out that there really is an agent out there who cares that you get the best...Theresa Baker of Baker Insurance. I felt very relaxed when talking with Theresa. She presented all my options and didn't push one over the other. She spent time getting to know me and my family needs so she could best present the policies that would protect me and my family. Theresa has helped me with selecting my Medicare provider for the past few years and has always been most helpful and informative. This year together we made a decision for me to change carriers which carried with it some different situations I have an HMO so I need to have things preauthorized and go through preferred providers which was ok but even though I went through a preferred primary who referred me to a preferred specialist there was an issue as to whether or not it was going to be paid for. As the day for my appointment neared I was still not getting anywhere with the company. Theresa stepped in and went right to the top and got it accepted at the 11th hour. I still may switch to a PPO but at least this issue was handled thanks to Theresa and Baker Insurance Group. Many Thanks Shirley L. read more

For the past 25 years my wife and I researched policies, premiums, deductibles, etc... on our own and it was draining to figure things out. I am a health care professional in private practice and my wife has extensive experience in managing health care practices. We both have considerable experience dealing with insurance companies and figuring out policies. I was referred to Theresa by a friend who got her insurance from Baker Insurance Group. My wife and I met with Theresa in October and we discussed insurance possibilities for me and my wife. Theresa and her staff are extremely knowledgable and up to date on available insurance offerings for the individual plans and for Medicare parts B, C and D. Theresa conveyed information thoroughly and we left her office with a wealth of information and ways to think about selecting the best available plan. As a result of our meeting, we decided to work with Theresa versus handling it on our own. When open enrollment date arrived and it came time to sign up for a plan for my wife (I will be on Medicare) Theresa happily informed me that a "Small Business" policy just became available for small businesses of 1 or more employees. (Policies were only available for 2 or more employees in the past, so I never qualified.) Theresa and Michelle were quick to inform me of this offering and Michelle walked me through all the steps I needed to take to make an application for small business coverage. Theresa and Michelle worked patiently to help me file the application. Michelle notified me today (Sunday) that we were approved for small group coverage. We are grateful for the expert guidance and up to date information given us to help negotiate through this health insurance maze. As a result of our excellent experience with Theresa and her staff I started referring my patients to Baker Insurance Group if they need help figuring out what to decide about coverage for 2018. read more
