It's a no frills kebab shop type restaurant. Nothing fancy here, just a authentic Persian/Turkish menu doing amazing bread and wonderful kebabs. With lots of salad and dips on the side. I had the mixed grill and loved it. The food was tasty and arrived quickly. The staff were friendly and efficient. We left completely stuffed! We went on a Saturday night and it was mobbed, but they still managed to squeeze us in. Two things worth mentioning. There is no alcohol and you pay at the till at the end rather than them bringing you the bill. Neither are a big deal and when the food is so good you don't nind about either of these things!

Luckily, there are places like Istanbul that reminds us that kebab is a wonderful dish when freshly prepared. Istanbul is a great outlet for typical Turkish kebabs - beef, lamb, chicken etc - along with other interesting Turkish menu items like rice-and-meat dishes, lahmacun, lentil soups etc. For vegetarians there are falafels. It's cheap enough to be a quick late-night doner takeaway (69kr), but also nice enough for dining-in and enjoying a complete meal. I was very satisfied with the 3-skewer sis kebab (160kr), a generous portion complete with bulgur, grilled peppers, yoghurt, salad and free bread. The beef may be a touch too chewy, but that's kinda given for the price. Probably doesn't get better value than this in Oslo.

The music blasts loud, people chatting even more loudly, and fingers get dirty dipping into red spicy stews. I wonder why I don't go here more often. As is traditional Eritrean/Ethiopian food, we get one large shared plate of sour pancakes called Injera, topped with little stews called tsebhi (or wot in Ethiopian). For the first visits, I would recommend the "combination" so you can sample different mixes of minced beef stew, vegetable, egg and chicken. You then rip apart the pancakes and use it gleefully to scoop up the meats. The sponge-like injera beautifully absorbs all the juices. It's actually very similar to Ethiopian cuisine, just with different names, and only the true aficionados (not me) could tell them apart. What I notice though is it is more sour and less earthy than any Ethiopian food I have ever had, and tasted of more use of tomatoes. This tiiny bit of over-tanginess - their injera is also very sour - probably keeps me from giving it a full-blown 5, otherwise, the spices are really spot on for my liking, and I always have a weakness for ethnic cuisine made from the heart :)

Its a mini Yelp travesty that I am only the second person to review this amazing little cafe /…read morerestaurant. Its places like this that should be feeling the love of the Yelp community. Adriatic Cafe+ is unique, independent and outstanding value. Just the way I like it :) Adriatic make fantastic Balkan food, that alone should hopefully get your attention as I cannot think of many cities in Europe where you can experience this amazing type of food. Its kind of a cross between Turkish / Greek and everything good in between. We stopped by for lunch having visited Oslo over a long weekend and I wish we had discovered this place sooner. They didn't have an English menu and not being familiar with Balkan food we struggled to pick out many dishes. Fortunately, the staff were really helpful and translated a number of things for us. We order the delightful feta burek, which is almost like a British style flaky pastry pie, the Cevapi, which are like mini beef sausage kebabs inside a fresh, hot pide style flat bread, chicken kebab and a shopska salad. When the food arrived we were instantly taken aback by the size of the portions and the quality of the food. Everything was so delicious and fresh and to make matters even better, it was the cheapest place by far that we had found in Oslo. I also discovered a new food in the form of Kajmak which was an accompaniment to the Cevapi. Its kind of like a soft, Philadelphia type cheese, but lighter and much more flavoursome. Anyway, it complemented the meat wonderfully and I just couldn't get enough of it. This restaurant is a perfect spot for a nice lunch or cheap dinner. It definitely needs your attention, so go check it out!

We ate…read morein several places in Oslo and this was without doubt my favourite by a long way..........AND.......... That's even including the fact that they don't have a license to sell alcohol! Where to start!?! The friendliest waitress that we were served by across our whole trip. Keen to help, chatty, efficient and explained the menu to us. Decor of the place was nice, open and bright. It is selling Balkan dishes and goes for a costal type feel with wooden ornaments dotted about the place. Now the two most important bits. The food is really really cheap for Norway and would even be considered good value on the UK. If your in Oslo and your sick of the high prices, get yourself along here and treat yourself at bargain pricing. The food itself was really really tasty. Great kebabs in lovely flat bread, amazing cheese & tomato salad and beautiful local pie style dishes. (All the actual dish names we had are on Rocco G's review if you want to check them out) I love this place and would go regularly if it was in Glasgow. If your a Oslo local you need to start giving it some love. If your a tourist you should check it out for lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed.
