Complete garbage, rude, gives you bad advice, every time you're at the clinic you leave upset. Honestly these people only want 1 thing your money, they could care less about or your car or dog. The staff are rude and speak down to you. They will tell you to go to other vets thats there solution when you can't come to an agreement about your pet. Honestly unprofessional, bad practice, bad business practices, horrible people, the vets are good but there's better. And they will lie to get there way so be careful. Stay away and new potential clients, go some where better you and you pet deserve it! read more

After moving to *gasp* Whitby, we had a full list of places to source. A good vet is definitely on the list. So I let my Googlin' skills run wild. Seriously, I don't understand businesses without websites. That being said, I don't understand businesses that don't have decent websites. I immediately crossed off any vets that didn't have a website (gosh so mid 90s) and focused on vets that have the following: - multiple vets - on-site lab - on-site surgical facilities - on-site boarding/kennel Baker Animal Clinic had all of the above and also a handy online services and forms for clients such as booking requests and refill on prescription requests. Everything from booking the appointment to the reception to the vet tech assistant to the vet was a great experience. They were nice, knowledgeable, asked really good questions and blew all our expectations. They are the best vet clinic we've ever been to (and we've been to a lot). I won't get into the nitty gritty (umm my dog's anal expression is way way way TMI) details but there are things that Baker Animal Clinic did that other vets didn't do and get this - COMPLIMENTARY as in FREE. A few days after the appointment, we got a phone call from the clinic asking if we had any concerns or questions and that we shouldn't hesitate to call if we did. When we got our first cat, I did a lot of research on vets in the area so that we could choose the best one for our first cat, Buster. Baker Animal clinic had a good reputation so we ended up choosing it, as it was well located. Every time I've walked into Baker, the receptionists are so super friendly. They're always interested in seeing your pet and every time I brought Buster in, the receptionists remembered him (one in particular who loves cats was always so wonderful with him when we brought him in, and she's wonderful with our current cat, Kitten). I've seen multiple doctors here and they all have a wonderful manner with my cats. Unfortunately, Buster was diagnosed with a fatal disease, but Baker did everything they could to help us through it and provide us with options for treatment to make Buster's remaining time more comfortable. We had an unfortunately awful experience when we put Buster down, but I've tried to look past that and look at the vet clinic as a whole, and not just on that one experience. Our current cat, Kitten, has been for all of her shots and checkups and was fixed in the spring. She didn't have any issues with healing and they did a very good job stitching her up (my family's old cat ended up with a low-hanging pooch because of a poorly done job when fixing her, so I'm pleased that Kitten does not have this). They also were able to use stitches that were inside and the used cauterizing techniques to minimize discomfort and promote healing. They've always been willing to answer any questions we may have, no matter how small or strange they may be. And they always have my pet in mind when recommending things. I really feel like the clinic cares about the well being of my pets, just as much as I do. I've been very happy with Baker Animal Clinic and we will continue to bring our pets to this location. read more

Titus (my dog and pal) loves going there - and that is proof of the kind treatment as he had a big operation to fix his knee and so I thought - well, he won't want to go back there but hey! he was as happy as he was before! read more

If you love your dog or cat do NOT take them to the Baker Animal Clinic. Our pup had an allergic reaction to a spider bite, so instead of doing a culture and looking what was wrong, the vet tried to push us to give him heart worm medication even thought he had already been tested. Then they gave him a cream and medication that treated heart worm. After a few days and still no improvement they just perscribed something else without even bothering to see how he was. We went and got a second opinion and thank goodness we did, because it was just a bite that flared up. He had to then get a shot in the bum and steroids to help it clear up because the cream and the other meds that Baker gave him only made him worse. I would never go there again read more

I'm so happy I switched to this vet clinic! As an animal lover and owner of cats and dogs, I have been looking for a good clinic for some time now. Walking in to this one, one feels welcome and comfortable. That is saying a lot when you are accompanied by a barking, lunging goldendoodle, believe me! The staff put us in a "quiet room", where my dog could bark all he wanted and not upset the other patients. The staff at this clinic are helpful and pictures of their own dogs are all over the clinic. I have been impressed with the veterinary services so far as well. Dr.S is a Scammer. We told her 3 times what our budget was and she still tried to sell us things and pushed irrelevant testing . Then gave us a total of way more then we repeatedly told her we had. Its like she didnt believe us! She didn't even take care of the problem we were there for in the first place!!!. Anyway we got some antibiotics and she said 'oh ill give you some wet food to mix the meds with' We thought okay, well that is nice! Then find out at the cash we were being charged for it! Thanks! Total rip off. There prices are over twice as high as our previous vet as well. Waste of time and money. Will make the long drive back to out old vet!!!! read more

I have been extremely happy with this office. They genuinely care about the animals/families they look after. The staff will always take the time to answer your questions. Dr Sutherland and Dr Birss are both knowledgable and understanding they are respectful of your decisions and of the rights of animals. I would recommend this office to anyone. I also commend them on discontinuing de-clawing at their office and educating people on the procedure. read more

I moved into the Oshawa area in december 2010, and owned an aging Great Dane, Zeus, he had a few health issues and I needed to find a vet in this area, I used one in oshawa but was'nt very happy, then had an emergency on a saturday night and took him to Durham emergency animal hospital, a couple of people recommended Bakers Animal Clinic to me so I did take him there, I was extremely impressed with the friendliness, care & compassion there, and also the price! Just a couple of weeks ago Zeus took really ill It turned out to be his heart which is a common ailment in aging danes, I had to make a tough decision and finally lay my gentle giant to rest :( Through out the days before and up to the time at the end they gave him the best care they could and were so compassionate and helpful. I have had dogs & cats for 25 years and I must say Bakers Animal clinic has been the best vets I have ever dealt with, and I will definately continue to use their services for my pets. Baker Animal Clinic in Whitby is ABSOLUTELY the BEST Clinic I have had the pleasure of taking my many pets to. They are caring, thorough, and by far the most knowledgeable group of professionals around. I have two dogs and 4 cats. The most recent of my additions, was cat #4, now named Jersey. Jersey was found behind my shed by one of my dogs. Jersey seemed, at first, to be very pregnant and I assumed that someone had dumped her after finding out that she was expecting. She even had a flea collar on (no good what so ever). We left her be for a bit, hoping that she would find her way home, but she did not. It was chilly in the evenings, so I set her up in my shed with blankets, food, and a heater, until I was sure she was healthy enough to bring into my home, out of fear for my other animals. I took Jersey for a check up and was given a grave diagnosis. I took her to a vet clinic, not Baker, purely out of convenience to my home. This is a mistake I will never make again. I could not believe that this loving, affectionate cat who was eating, playing and purring like crazy, could be so sick and not pregnant at all. I was advised to be kind and let her go to a "better place." I left her overnight, as they could not euthanize her right away and needed to book me an appointment two days later. When I went to visit her for a bit the next day, she had gone downhill and could barely stand up. I contacted Baker to see if they could help her transition over to "the better place" so that she would not need to suffer, and they said they would fit me in, no problem. When I got to the clinic, Dr. Cheryl Birss and Dr. Dave Sutherland did another examination for me, just to be sure. Jersey had been misdiagnosed and my tears gave way to hope Jersey, by the next day, was taken in for an exploratory surgery and it was determined that Jersey had a severe form of pyometra. This is a condition that can be fatal for cats or dogs that have not been spayed. She was FULL of infection, but we were hopeful that we could help her. Jersey is coming home with me today!!! She will be the most spoiled cat and have a loved-filled life for as long as she wants to stay on this earth. If it wasn't for the caring and knowledgeable staff at Baker, Jersey could be gone by now, and I'd never know any better. I'm a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and I believe that Baker Animal Clinic can make miracles happen. My many thanks, my admiration and my heart is with them always!!! They may consider this to be their profession, but I feel as though they are angels sent to all of us to look over, care for and protect our furry family members!! I will recommend Baker Animal Clinic to absolutely anyone who cares about their four legged family members! read more
