Great new bakery in Kiaora lane in double bay. Great breakfast and lunch items. Kitchen closes around 3pm on weekdays and 3.30pm on weekends. I stopped by after 3.30pm (so just missed out on ordering some food) got a cappuccino and sat outside on a tall table. Once the kitchen is closed they only have sandwiches left in their display cabinet plus other breads and sweets etc. The have indoor and outdoor seating - great spot to people watch. Staff were friendly and helpful. Will indeed be back to try their food menu.

Flourless apple mini muffins & lemon meringue with a coffee, the perfect afternoon pick-me-up!

Great food, fantastico coffee, and yummy sweeties. Great for a meal, sandwich or coffee. Highly recommend the chicken salad, comes with delicious fresh toasted bread. Sitting outside is divine but not frosty!! Part of the new Kiora Lane cafes, very villiag-y!!

Bake Bar is a thriving little bakery cafe and coffee shop in the double bay shopping precinct that has in door and alfresco dining. There is heating there if the day needs it. Breakfast goes until midday or 2 pm on weekends and public holidays. It then switches to the lunch menu from 12noon until 4. Everything is made on site including all the bread and sausage rolls and pies. We began with a coffee; hubby had the nice macchiato and I got a delicious skim chai latte. I feel I'm a bit of a chai connoisseur and i loved this one. Not too sweet and the flavours infused well through the milk. We were there for lunch on this occasion, sat outside and perused the menu. We both ordered a meal and a salad. Hubby got the prawn linguine, a al dente linguine with white wine and garlic sauce, with a generous serving of prawns and finished with some cherry tomatoes and Parmesan. A great spring menu option. He also got the tuna Niçoise salad, a combination of mixed greens, olives, carrot, potato, beans and topped with a boiled egg and seared tuna slices - this was lovely and it was perfectly cooked. Accompanied with a side of bread of your choice, rye, multigrain, white or gluten free. I went for a beef burger; which was quite a healthy burger in that you elected your bread of choice, it had lettuce, beetroot a bit of aioli, caramelised onions and a nicely cooked meat pattie. I also got a salad; the prawn and avocado salad. Mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, a generous addition of prawns, a aioli dressing and a slice of toast. We also saw some customers eating the sausage rolls so decided to order these too; a lamb and Harissa as well as a beef sausage rolls. A crisp pastry filled with a nicely seasoned filling. The staff were very accommodating, efficient with their service and very personable. A lovely choice of a venue for lunch out.

Bake Bar in Double Bay is a hive of activity from morning until late afternoon. When you try their selection of meals, baked goods and treats it is not hard to see why. I love their bench style seats where you can watch the world and people go by while sipping a coffee and having a meal or snack. Despite this popular spot often being at capacity there are plenty of staff on deck and they manage the crowd well. We were there for a late lunch and we were pleasantly surprised by the range of meals including pastas, burgers, sandwiches and salads. I went for the prawn linguine which had a generous serving of prawns and despite being a pasta dish was relatively light and a perfect option for lunch. The subtle hint of butter, parmesan and tomato made it easy to eat and filling. We also grabbed the Asian style chicken salad which was served with your choice of bread - the Asian salad dressing topped this dish off beautifully. I am keen to try out their selection of chicken burgers next time we dine there - they looked fresh and delicious as they came past our table. Despite the size of both dishes we knew we had to save room for dessert after seeing their baked goods selection. These really were the highlight! The chocolate cupcake with pistachio was quite possibly the best cupcake I have had and the chocolate and cream slice was just as good (all of which are organic). Pair these with a coffee or chai latte and you have the perfect afternoon snack. During our visit there was also a steady stream of people grabbing take away baked goods or the loaves of amazing bread on offer. This place is definitely worth it for your bread and baked good needs while doing the rest of the shopping in the complex. Mid week this would be the perfect spot to bring your laptop or a book and soak up the sun and the atmosphere of the area. Additionally set yourself up in the library and use this place as the perfect study break spot!

I had Shukshuka for breakfast, which was brilliant and they do make really good coffee. They also have great bread.

But today I was in a rush and was passing Boulangerie Patisserie, I saw sausage rolls and had an uncontrollable temptation (yes I was THAT hungry). I am relieved to say though that the sausage roll was really very good. It seemed to have been made with some sense of standards, it seemed to have actual discernable meat inside it was tasty and it didn't appear that it might have been sitting there a few days, but instead seemed fresh! It brought back the old sausage roll and tomato sauce memories from my childhood. I might go back for another.

I preferred the pistachio Kurtosh. The hazelnut one was like candy on top of the cone and very crunchy like candy. These are made to order so take around 10 or 15 minutes. Not really ideal for a grab and go but was worth the stop. They have a ton of other pastries as well that are pay by the pound. The kurtosh was really good, especially with coffee. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but if nearby I would definitely go again.

It's quite good. Honestly, I'd say forget the pastry twister and go one of the Slab Cakes instead. Oh, so good! So far, my favourite has been the Catastrophe Flourless Choc Cake. Or mayyyybe actually the Lemon Crumble Cheesecake. Pretty much mention Mum's Chocolate Cake and I'm ready to trip someone over for a bite! If you can't choose, you could order a sliver of each and call it day. This is the best bit about Kurtosh - everything is sold by weight, and there's no minimum (or maximum) for what you buy. So you can literally order a sliver each of four kinds of cake. Hoorah! Extra bonus: open late so you can pop in for after dinner dessert.

Maybe they don't have a sweet tooth down under as much as we do. You come in and there will be people perusing the counters, tray and tong in hand, making important decisions what to get. There is a cold fridge for their more delicate, frosted treats. I happen to walk in close to their closing time. They were announcing everything was 50% off everything with a few exceptions. With the US$ having about a 30% stronger buying power, I filled up a couple bags to bring home. Didn't have to worry about breakfast this time. Service, like most of Australia, is not something you want to talk about. The good thing is they do not tip down here. It's a good trade off as I'd rather save money.

As we were walking up George St, I forced everyone inside of 85 in order to source the necessities to make the magic happen. I picked out a slice of the blueberry cheesecake and some mousey death-by-chocolate extravaganza and we continued down to Town Hall to sit on the wall (like classy girls do), eat cake and people watch. I was disappointed that the shop didn't have birthday candles, but we sang anyway. The cakes were, eh, decent. I wouldn't have been surprised to learn that the cheesecake was made out of shop and frozen. The chocolate mouse was fluffy but had some sort of strange plastic aftertaste. I would definitely NOT recommend this place for the quality of their desserts, but if you happen to be in the area and in a cake-related pinch, it will do. They are open super late on weekend nights as well, so that alone is a sizable pro.
