Justin Bahrie gave up on me when I needed him most. The Judge denied my Disability at the Hearing level. Justin Bahrie dropped my case without even calling me; he sent a letter saying he did not believe going forward with an appeal would be favorable, but the letter did not say he dropped my case. I called him ready to ask questions about an appeal and get my lawyer's advice. I just had a big diagnosis that the judge did not consider, I thought an appeal was a sure thing. Turns out Justin had already completely decided he was not going to help me with my appeal and he had no advice other than he did not think I could win an appeal. Basically he is a coward, and too scared to stand up for a client to a Judge he has favor with; which is exactly what a good lawyer should do for a client. I did everything this man asked from day 1, including getting his medical questionnaires filled out by 2 different specialists... the questionnaires he said if your doctor fills out you are almost guaranteed to win! Well, I fought my doctor for 2 months to get those forms filled out for him and I definitely did not win. He only met me once in person and the second time I was supposed to meet him he did not even show up and his secretary had to do everything, when I really needed to talk to my lawyer. He doubted me on everything and fought me instead of working on my side. In fact, I did all the work, I'm not sure he did anything but show up at my hearing and he barely said a word to the Judge... I should have just went alone, I probably would have had better luck and could have argued my case the way I know it was instead of being told to try to win it his way, when he was very uninvested in my case from day 1. I had already had 1 terrible lawyer, so I went into Bahrie Law thinking it was a place that actually advocated for its clients and the people actually did the work you were there seeking help for.... I was mistaken. Choose a Lawyer who will fight for you from the beginning because you are a Human Being in need of help; don't choose a lawyer who will only take your case if it's an easy win, or in my case not an easy win ( and he did tell me that from the beginning) but did not want to do the work fighting for anyone but his self and his image. Coping with a permanent disability is difficult. From the time a person first learns of their diagnosis, their life is affected in so many ways. There may not only be physical pain caused directly by a disabling condition, but a person may also have to face limits and restrictions to their mobility as well. Sometimes, a person learns that their condition could even be expected to worsen. All of this affects everyone in the disabled person's life as well. As if the medical and emotional aspects of a disability were not enough to deal with, there are also legal and financial aspects to negotiate that a person may not have ever had to consider before. Is their condition permanent or temporary? Will the person be able to earn a living? Will they be able to keep working in their traditional career or will they even be able to work at all? These questions certainly make managing life with a disability all the more scary and worrisome. As a middle-aged man with a severe form of epilepsy, I had immense difficulty in simply trying to continue to work so I could stay independent and cover my own expenses. When my seizures finally forced me to stop working, I found that it was very hard to understand what steps I needed to take to protect my own future. My doctors had repeatedly told me that I had to stop working, but Social Security initially rejected my case and I had to wait in a years-long line for a hearing. Whenever I asked anyone for info and advice, it seemed that I was stuck in a perpetual gap between the realms of medicine and law.
