Near the exit, there is OBB office to buy tickets or make changes. Information board os accurate and large signes directing you to the upstairs platform. You can also take the escalator next to the stairs. Must if you have a large luggage. On the screen, if the white circle blinks, that means your train has arrived and you can board. All OBB seats can be reserved for few extra €. If not, just seat at any open seats but expect to let it go for people with reservation. Definitely 5 star station. There are few very busy, dirty and unorganized trains in Europe especially ones in Zurich. Watch out for pan handlers.

However, the service here is second to none, if only for the fact that the guy on the platform actually pointed out to me that they tickets we had were actually first class, something that my travel agent basically neglected to mention.

Sadly there are only some lukewarm wines and beer (yes only one kind, but then again the German-speaking peoples don't really do craft brews, they only have 3 kinds; Gold/Weisse, Schwarz, Rot/Bock), although there's a coffee machine that makes a couple of styles or whatever (I don't drink coffee, it's something like lactose intolerance, but for coffee/caffeine, and any hot water for tea that comes out the same tube is going to taste like coffee water!). But since it's included and I don't have to pay extra, why complain? Also during the winter months, it's a warm place to be, instead of freezing on the platform. No TV for news, it just shows the timetable, much like the airports'. If you don't want to use the free wifi like I'm doing now, there's a wide selection of journals and periodicals, although most are in German. And for some unknown reason, there's a conference room roughly about half the size of the lounge, probably for business people stuck in a storm or something! Finally the sofas are comfy and warm for your tushy, definitely better than the ice-cold metal benches!

While the small store inside the station is sweet and has a plethora of magazines, newspapers, and tourist items, there is not much to say as of the rest of the place. The Burger King is a typical fast food place. The other businesses were closed as it was past noon on Saturday. I am sure the eyeglass store is clean as the folks who run the store clean it. Can not say much for any other part of the train station. Since it is one of the first stops in Berchtesgaden for many, it is embarrassing that it is so dirty.
