They have a good selection of freshly baked bagels with and assortment of fillings, plus sandwiches, falafel, and a salad bar. I plumped for a mozzarella, avocado and tomato bagel. Which bagel would I like? Sesame seed please. Would I like it grilled? Would I like the tomato and mozzarella melted in the bagel? Would I like basil and pepper? Yes, yes and yes!! The Bagelman is relatively small but they have further seating downstairs and the staff are so numerous that there is hardly any waiting involved when it comes to ordering and getting the food delivered to your table. On top of this, the staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The Bagelman has been open for ten years now, its obviously a winning formula. If you're in the mood for a treat, they also have a great selection of homemade cakes and the lunchtime options such as sandwiches and jacket potatoes are yummy too - the jacket with chilli is especially good. All in all the food is inexpensive, the service is really friendly and the location is great- what more could you ask of a café?

When it comes to sandwiches, I almost always go for a tuna melt or the Reuben (the classic pastrami, Swiss cheese, gherkin and mustard combo), but they also do great veggie options, including the delicious A.M.T (avocado, mozzarella and tomato), which is also yummy as a melt. Another house favourite is Funky Tuna with olives, avocado and lemon juice. But if you don't fancy the options on the menu, don't be afraid to create your own- they will be more than happy to accommodate you! If you're looking for a quick breakfast bite, check out their omelette bagels (with your choice of cheese, bacon, lox and more), served until 11.30am. Every bagel I've tried has been good, but in honesty, none of them are absolute showstoppers...but that's kind of okay- sometimes I just want a simple bagel and Bagelman delivers.

It is accessed through a rather steep ramp, which could be difficult if visiting with a wheelchair/buggy etc, and there is no other way into the store (not even any steps) The cleanliness of the store could be improved, and it, in general, felt a little strange compared to other Pret stores, it wasn't too welcoming or nice inside, and in some areas, it felt a little dark and gloomy. The food section again was below average to other Pret stores, but I've often found the selection to be hit and miss depending on the branch, regardless of the time of day and this is one of those which fall into the "miss" category. Not a bad location, certainly not the worst spot in the city, but could be vastly improved to earn beyond the generous two-star rating I feel they are worthy of at this moment in time.

I liked that there was filling in the latke, but it was a bit bland and overly oily (though let's be real, when are latkes not super oily?), and it felt like I consumed an unnecessary amount of empty calories (correction: I did, not that I have any regrets). Although I wasn't blown away, Hells Kitchen had a ton of lunch options and is a solid spot with super reasonable prices.

I think my po-po was almost accidentally backin' up against someone's MacBook Pro. At some point during our stay, I noticed this. So, Mac-dude was either too polite, or too English to tell me to move my goods away from his. Hehe. My perch was directly in front of an open window-ahhhh-so I was able to gaze out at the nearby street and buildings while gulls were crying somewhere off in the distance. The gulls were a very nice touch. What to say about the flat whites? Oh, I don't know. I hate to sound like a "hater", but the bevvies were quite milky with only the slightest hint of espresso to them. Resplendent with fab-o foam art, they looked every bit the part flat white, but didn't really taste like them. What's great about Ground is that the service was spot-on friendly and efficient. I'd be keen on going back and ordering a drip coffee and a snack, and, hopefully, snagging a seat by the window, or, if it's nice out, a seat on the bench out front.

I got 4 week saver tickets for £30 here once! That worked out as £7.50 a week, witch is a damn site better than £3.50 a day I can tell you... As you'd expect, these are constant demand though, so trying to be one of the lucky few is a constant ambition rather than a guarantee. Aside from food and travel, there's a nice selection of stationary on offer and a plethora of clothes adorned with Sussex Uni name and logo. Its also nice to know that money spent here helps make the uni a better place... Not much use if you're leaving or hate the place, but wonderful all the same!

They also stock Co-op ready meals such as sushi and wraps, which is pretty handy. And a lot can be said for the range of birthday cards, which are mostly designed by card makers local to Brighton & Hove. It can sometimes be a tad expensive in here, and they haven't quite learnt how to handle the queues at the beginning of the term, when students are all eager and willing to learn - it's much quieter after about 3 weeks of term time.
