I've…read moreused H&R Block in different locations before and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a scheduled appointment. My appointment was at 2pm today--on my lunch hour. The objective was to get in and out on a very uncomplicated tax filing. The guy who was assigned to work with me greeted me and said: "I see you're on time, would you like to drop your information off or wait?" At the time, I assumed waiting meant a few minutes while he wrapped it up with the other client. Then he proceeded to tell me that if I didn't want to wait anymore, to let him know. 5 minutes passed, then 10, then 15, then, 20--next thing you know an entire 33 minutes passed, and he didn't even bother to see if I was still there. I jumped up from my seat infuriated and told him never mind, and that I was leaving. I feel bad for folks who live in primarily urban areas. They're treated differently, for sure! I chose this location because I work near here. These associates have no sense of time. Do they believe because we're minorities that we don't work? Possibly! I'm going to make a fair assumption and say that everyone who was sitting in that lobby waiting on their scheduled appointment probably had something better to do with their time. Damn shame.

He did not explain them the details of the corporation he was opening for them, neither did he open the correct type of corporation for them. Throughout his services he kept misguiding at every occasion although making sure that he was charging for all such services which they paid every time in full. The worst was after the business was dissolved (which he did not do correctly and left many loose ends with IRS and State Taxation departments) he was absolutely not willing to support them any further with responses that they had to give to IRS. Between 2014 and 2016, I visited or called a number of tax professionals along the Route 1 corridor throughout Highland Park, Metuchen, Edison, and Woodbridge. Each year, I looked for assistance with my income tax returns. Unfortunately, since I don't have a particularly complicated situation, many CPAs dismissed me as a customer. I cannot tell you how many tax professionals denied me their time, telling me they only work with individuals with complex situations; they kept recommending I head over to H&R Block or just use Turbo Tax. The tax professionals who did accept my business in 2014 and 2015 completed my tax returns in as little as 5-7 minutes, just skimming over my documents and submitting returns without even having a conversation with me as a client. As someone with a couple of tax-related inquiries who wanted to make sure I proceeded correctly, I knew I had to find someone new in 2016 who would take me seriously as a client. Nailesh did a wonderful job. When I called his office, he scheduled a same-day appointment with me and met with me for an hour. We held a one-hour initial consultation in which he reviewed my paperwork thoroughly and asked me a series of questions which immediately proved his thoroughness, his precision, and his commitment to his customers. Additionally, as questions arose throughout the process of preparing the returns, Nailesh texted me to ask follow-up questions to ensure the accuracy of my returns. While working on my 2016 return, Nailesh noticed an inaccuracy that carried back two years to my 2014 returns (likely a result of the rushed and haphazard service I got at other tax preparation offices). He amended a number of my state and federal returns, gaining me not only piece of mind but a steady stream of small (but not unappreciated!) checks with some extra money I had not been anticipating. At the end of the process, he invited me in for a final appointment to review my returns and explain his calculations, a step in the process which I very much appreciated. He also charged fair and reasonable rates, especially considering he spent three times as much time with me as many of his competitors in the area would have! If you are looking for personal income tax preparation, I cannot recommend Nailesh any more highly. I was looking to get a consultation with Mr. Perry to explain the specifics of my needs, however the representative stated that Mr. Perry wouldn't be available until May. However, the representative stated that she could be helpful. I started to explain my needs, then she interrupts me and says, "We need all the details of your situation, and when you're serious, about doing business with our firm, please do call us back." She proceeds by ending the telephone call. It is in my opinion, that when working with potentially "new" clients, that you may have a bit more patients to understand their needs. Also, please don't offer your time when you truly do not mean it. Hopefully, they will improve their "new" client relationships in the future.
