It is a stunning building, which was completed in 1913 and is home to the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, The Hague Academy of International Law and the Peace Palace Library.
Information is available in both English and Dutch about the history of the Palace and its importance in Europe for peace through justice.
It's fairly nice to walk around, with gardens and benches outside, where you can sit, admire the views and watch the world go by, the building reminds me a lot of the Royal Palaces across Europe.
It is free to enter the visitor's centre between noon and 4 pm while guided tours can be booked through a paid ticket two weeks in advance, again this is offered in both Dutch and English.
I enjoyed visiting the Palace during my short time in The Hague, a remarkably interesting and underrated city in The Netherlands, under an hour away from Amsterdam. 4*
