To start with I had…read morebooked us the wrong room- I had misread the floor plan and thought we would have a full one bedroom. We were travelling with our toddler and needed the separate sleeping area. I called to the front desk and had us changed within 30 mins. We upgraded to a two bedroom villa which was stunning and more than enough space for the three of us. The property itself is gorgeous. Very lush. Every morning our walk to breakfast was relaxing and gorgeous. The breakfast was fantastic and one of my favourite parts of the stay. They also have two pools- one is a quiet pool and the other more of a family pool. I appreciate this as then I don't need to worry about my kid making too much noise. All in all a fantastic two night stay.

And Ben that manages the Beachcomber is the duck's nuts, he is deadset the friendliest, most helpful bloke in the southern hemisphere. Nothing we asked was too much trouble. He paused when I asked him for a back rub, but to his credit sucked it up and got on with it. The resort has a motel-type feel but it's all spotlessly clean, and the pool and spa, while not getting the most sun in the world, are cracking to kick back in. With a beer. And some Playmates, if you can get them. The real winner here? The sneaky little sand track across the disused railway lines through a short stretch of bush to the beach. Felt exactly like I was in Stand By Me. I freaking love that movie.

The apartment had a compact bathroom with good shower, washing machine and dryer, and a combined kitchen/bedroom/dining/living room area with flat screen TV. The kitchen was quite well-equipped with glassware, cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, fridge freezer, kettle, pod coffee machine, electric cooktop, microwave, oven, toaster, and dishwasher. We found our bed a little too soft for comfort - but that is just a personal preference thing. We noticed the parking is not secure as the gate is open during the day. At night, when the gate is closed, anyone can still access the garage via the building entrances which are unlocked all day. (Keycard accesses are not activated.) Note that there is no lift in this complex - so if you have mobility issues you will need to request a ground floor apartment. Otherwise, this is a great option for a central Byron Bay stay!

It is just one of those places that will stick with you for a long time, the food melts in your mouth, wine is to die for and the ambience is everything and some that has you leaving very happy indeed. I was lucky to have a father-daughter lunch and a disclaimer my daughter went to school with the owner's daughter and that aside this is an objective review. Hats off to all staff and I just love the coffee van at the entrance and the amenities were spotless given this Covid crisis you would expect nothing less. Looking forward to returning.

I might suggest in the future that if you have overbooked your tables you invite your guests to enjoy coffee or an aperitif in the bar....maybe even on the house. Sure would be better public relations than having six offended guests each tell six more potential guests where they might get a good meal and not be hustled out the door like Hungry Jacks. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing though because those huts were actually really nice, and quite comfortable as well, not to mention warm (which does tend to be an important factor for me). The grounds are actually quite large, in fact so large that they have golf buggies to take you to your rooms. There is even a swimming pool, not that I actually ever use them. Oh, and it is pretty close to most of the happing places in Byron as well, so that's also a bonus. I probably should also mention that you also get a pretty good value for your money as well.

My friends and I were in a big enough group to share a six person room-- it was clean and fairly spacious, and the beds were comfy. The bathrooms were also very clean and there was never a wait for the shower. I also found that it wasn't noisy late at night-- either we came at a time when the big party people weren't staying or these guys do a good job of noise control late night. This hostel is super close to all of the bars and restaurants in Byron and only a couple of blocks to the beach. It was only $40 a night and that includes free use of their boogey boards and bicycles as well! We didn't use the kitchen but took a peek one day and it looked big enough to accommodate everyone. Would definitely recommend this to a budget traveller.

After leaving…read moreanother place in the area that was gross and disgusting I walked into this hotel and was so pleasantly surprised. It took me days to even realize it's a backpackers hotel. The place is so clean and chic with great amenities, one would never know! The rooms are great here although wouldn't recommend getting a basic room especially for 2 as they are very small. I got an upgraded room and it was white all over with a massive bathroom and rain fall shower, the pressure was to die for . It even had a tiny balcony which I enjoyed for my morning coffees. They have a communal kitchen that is kept immaculately even has L'occitane soap to wash your dishes. Complete kitchen and grill to cook with a fridge for storage. There's laundry, and a small lap pool great for dips as Byron Bay is quite humid. There also is room service, which is why it I thought it was a regular hotel. Free coffee and tea and filtered water. What else can one ask for? Yes its a little more expensive than some of the other places in the area but it's worth it.

There are three houses on the property, and a number of rooms in each (eight in the one I stayed in). Each house is very modern with a kitchen, dining areas, BBQ, etc. Ideally you would come here with a family for a birthday or something like that, but even from my experience it was worth heading back to.
