I got outfitted with wide ski's snd poles. The welcoming dinner absolutely exceeded my expectations as everything that came out of the kitchen did all weekend long. The skiing kicked off the next morning with a wake up knock at 6:30am for coffee followed up with a hearty breakfast. Flight orientation and avalanche orientation prior to flying into the Ruby Mountains. Out first day of skiing was just spectacular weather was ideal as far as spring conditions go. We did a record number of runs, 14. Was one of my best days ever with s set of ski's on. Dinner was a pasta dish which was simply delicious. Live music and board games to entertain the guest. Saturday skiing was equally as exciting as the first day. We staged the helicopter in a cattle ranch field where Ruby Mountain Helicopter set up picnic tables and food and beverages for lunch, which was flown in. Not as many runs, but the good times continued. What a day. Followed up with a Steak over asparagus just delicious. A bunch of the guides and guest took off for a nite of fun in downtown Elko. Sundays skiing was just as fabulous as the previous days. I absolutely had the time of my life. One of the best weekends of my adult life. I'll be scheduling this coming years trip this week, can't wait to get back for another visit.

Ducks love this marsh and it is popular for nesting. While we were on the lake we saw ducks in the grasslands. It is a beautiful place to spend a few hours at. We didn't go far because it became very windy. They have a visitor center that you can visit. We were kayaking here and really think being on the water is the way to experience this lake. This lake has trout and bass which seem to be pretty large. If you want to visit a spacious and scenic part of Nevada then we highly recommend this refuge.

We missed Fort Ruby & the Narciss Boat Landing. At the Main Boat Landing there's bathrooms, boat ramp & maps/info on a kiosk. There were some fishermen in their boats. From the brochure: "located in the Great Basin of the West, Ruby Lake National Wildlife Refuge is a wetland oasis in NV's high desert. This remarkable refuge lies along the eastern flank of the scenic, snow-capped Ruby Mtns." There's lots of birds: We saw some American avocet, White-faced ibis, Coots, & Canvasback, many others couldn't ID. We didn't see mammals, reptiles, amphibians, or fish but they are there somewhere. We did a short auto tour to see the Marsh on a dirt road on our way to Harrison Pass Rd. Best time to see waterfowl & their young is from May-July. Nesting & migrating songbirds best observed during May-June. Sept-Oct can be up to 25,000 waterfowl & coots. Location: Ruby Lk Refuge is located in the south Ruby Valley, 65 mi SE of Elko & 100 miles NW of Ely in Northeastern NV.
