She put me on a regimen of strength exercises and with patience and time my knee got better (inflamed meniscus combined with extremely tight hamstrings which exacerbated the problem). After confirming in email and by phone that they took my US blue cross blue shield insurance and that they did direct billing with them, I scheduled my first appointment. Turns out they did not do direct billing and I would have to file a claim on my own. I felt the two female receptionist were a bit condescending during the process of figuring out my insurance. As an athlete whose had multiple sports related injuries, I take physical therapy very seriously after repair surgeries and know the importance of PT. The physical therapist that I saw at MCI was extremely nice but I did not get the assertive and confident demeanor that I wanted from a PT (gave off the vibe of an intern). I need a PT who would bend and work my ligament back to normal- no pain no gain. The PT at MCI was more visually observing and poked around. In the end I was told to return 1 or 2 times a week. Standard for post Op physical therapy is usually 3 times per week for acl and Achilles repairs so I knew right away this place might've been just an canadian insurance collecting clinic. When my session was over, the first thing I thought was "that's it?!?!?!???? Nothing more... I ended up going to foundation physiotherapy and wellness. No regrets. From day one, I was worked and not babied and th PT was straight up confident. Going 3 tImes a week and paying a bit more, but it's for your own health.

Carol is excellent. Not only does she deliver superior massage therapy -…read more to me, she also provides a kind of mental/emotional therapy, as she listens and engages with my life stories/vents (only if the client prefers to talk of course). She deeply cares about her work and clients on a level that's more personal than just pure transactional, as she remembered my story/background/what we chatted about etc., only after the first visit. Technically, she is exceptional as well. She applies firm, but not excessive, pressure. Her sessions are effective and beneficial. Finally - I really enjoy how she provides her clients with tips (e.g. trying meditation before bed etc.) - and reminds them to breathe and relax! I will go out of my way to see Carol, honestly - so you should definitely check her out!

Since recently moving into her own practice after transferring from the Well in Parkdale, I've stayed loyal to Carol as my massage therapist and there are a few key reasons worth mentioning: 1) Proper deep tissue treatment. Whether for my back or even helping with the plantar fasciitis in my foot last year, she knows how to target troubled areas and can apply the pressure required to make a difference 2) Online booking. I hardly know my own schedule one week to the next, so I like that her website allows me to book online as I need it. 3) Direct billing to insurance. Once she's got you set up in the system, she'll bill the 80% directly to you insurance provider and only be on the hook to pay the 20% Being located at Queen & Spadina is a pretty easy location to get to as well, so for navigational purposes I'll give her a bonus shout out.

For me, my visits starting about 4 months ago have lead to immense improvements in my areas needing it. I cannot rate Mend Physio highly enough.

I was soaking wet as I had walked there in the rain and I was meeting up with someone afterwards, so I replied that I wanted to keep my appointment time. I was then told again that the client wanted to do 90 minutes instead of 60. I repeated that it would not work for me. We went around in circles. I was firm but polite. The therapist kept saying she was sorry but quite frankly not that sorry if she wouldn't stick to the appointment already booked by me.I finally left with no massage. I find this to be extremely unprofessional and won't be back. Not sure why if some other client changes their mind that I should have to give up my time.I had not even been called to talk to me about this beforehand. I have also recommended them to other people and I won't be doing that again especially as my friends were disappointed in their massages.

Finally with regard to the right lower leg bruise where I told her that was where she placed the needle ..she sort of implied ,a well what do you expect attitude...this is acupuncture. Well I expect professional practitioners to not be deceptive and be capable of owning up to any mishaps. I totally lost any trust in her as an acupuncturist and honestly would not recommend her. It was just an overall weird experience.

What's hot - Quality. I had Catherine and she was wonderful. She reviewed my health summary and understood the issues I had and definitely knew how to address them. She asked me how much pressure I prefer and certainly applied that very well. She was respectful and responsive to the issues. She focused on my problem areas, applied an excellent amount of pressure, checked in a couple of times during the process , and also massaged my temples and scalp a little bit. Personally, I love that attention to detail, because I've learned where my body holds tension and I appreciate it when masseuses can address that properly. My husband had Veraleen and she was great, as well. She applied a good amount of pressure to my husband's trouble spots and he enjoyed the experience. - Service. Overall, they're pretty good. I booked our massages through their website and they responded by calling soon after. They also made certain we each filled our a health survey. My husband forgot to fill his out and their staffer at the front desk ensured he did so before the massage started. - Facilities. Clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The room for the couples massage is a good amount of space and not cramped. There's only one restroom in their facility for the customers. - Location. Pretty good and easy to find. There's also parking nearby, which is helpful, because they're downtown. - Health insurance. My husband and I are tourists, so we paid out of pocket, but it appears they take health insurance, which is great. You can fill out health insurance information when you schedule online and I heard their staffer confirm another couples' insurance, who had just finished and was on their way out when we arrived. What's not - 50 minutes instead of a full hour. I'm bummed their massage doesn't go for the full hour, especially due to the price. - Price. To be fair, they're more reasonable than other massage services, which is why I chose them. As mentioned previously, that it's $129 for less than 1 hour seems a bit high. - Website. By the way, if you book a couples massage, be aware of booking each one separately. The first time I tried it, I double booked for myself. Their website isn't the most straightforward, so be aware of that if you're trying to book for others. - Construction noise. To be fair, they have no control over this. I bring this up so people are aware there is currently construction going on, which adds to the noise. Not pleasant, but it just forced me to focus on Catherine's technique, which was great. Final Answer Would be willing to come back if we ever return to the area and would recommend them to others.
