The menu changes daily and offers a wide variety of chicken (anything and everything from a mild honey mustard to the HOT HOT HOT Bomber's own recipe scotch bonnet/ghost chilli Perkbomb) and pork options, and occasionally lamb, falafel or home-made fish fingers. The sandwiches come as small boys (a small soft or crusty roll) or big boys (a bap the size of your face!); alternatively they offer salad boxes or jacket potatoes if you don't quite fancy a sandwich. If you'd prefer something light, there's almost always a fantastic soup (I had carrot and coriander today), but if you're feeling famished I dare you to take on the atomic bomb which is a combination of any three meats and all the salad you like! Its location means that it's perfect for those working in Cardiff city centre (or the Bay) as well as those indulging in a bit of shopping, although I regularly travel out of my way to treat myself to a cheeky sandwich. If you've got time on your hands, I'd also suggest taking a seat and having some tea or coffee and a slice of cake. Having recently been awarded 5 out of 5 on the Food Hygiene Rating, it is safe to say that Bomber's cannot be beaten on quality, cleanliness or service; as well as doing a fantastic job of supporting local businesses by sourcing local produce.

Deli Rouge - enjoy the halumi cheese

I spent a very pleasant Sunday afternoon with a group of friends here. This is a lovely little deli…read morein Roath that also has seating areas inside, out front and in a back garden. They have a massive selection of sandwiches and fillings, including all the standards and some little extras like homemade apple chutney and haloumi cheese. Superb. I can thoroughly recommend the Farmhouse sandwich (honey roasted ham, mature cheddar, salad and chutney), as most of our group all independently ordered the same thing. This led to a funny moment when the first sandwich was delivered and we all threw our hands into the air and laughed. This is a family run business and has a wonderful busy, cosy and slightly haphazard feel to it. It's a fantastic place to sit and while away lazy days.

Hidden Gem. It…read moresounds cliche but those are the first words that spring to mind when I think about relaying the wonder that is Deli Rouge. If you searching for a glamorous, expensive, chic cafe where you can buy an expensive, TINY coffee - you are NOT in the right place. Deli Rouge doesn't have a glitzy location or exterior, but inside it achieves a lovely rustic British-come-Mediterranean atmosphere that lets you leave the wet outside world behind. It's good to remember that it's primarily a deli, so the room is quite small. However, the selection of produce and high quality ingredients for sandwiches and salad is immense! They let you compose your own, adding what you want from the counter at a shockingly low price (thick slabs of feta for just 20p more?! Yes please!) Or you can choose from the extensive list of already composed filling combination (e.g Herby Cheese and hummus.) There isn't that much seating, but what is there is great - cushions in bay window, dinky tables outside, bucket chairs around wooden tables. I'd highly recommend taking a book or a friend (or both) for a reasonably priced lunch that is made up of fresh, tasty ingredients. PS - The coffees are HUGE!

Fresh, good value and delicious to boot, if you're after a sandwich Ozzy's is the place to go! Over…read morethe years I've seen many businesses come and go from this spot, none really knowing what to do with this small space. However with Ozzy's they've struck gold. On your typical weekday expect to find Ozzy's packed (peak times 12:00pm-1:30pm). Ozzy's serves sandwiches, baguettes, Panini's, and toasties all of which are prepared before your eyes (although you can order by phone in advance). There are a variety of food options, my sister is quite partial to their roast chicken baguette, but they'll generally make anything up for you as long as they have the filling. One word to the wise, if you like Panini's like myself I'd recommend getting there earlier as due to popularity they run out quickly. Don't worry if you're thirsty, Ozzy's has the usual fizzy drinks, water and most importantly coffee. The staff are all very friendly and have good memories when it comes to their regular patrons favourites (though not that difficult when it comes to myself, as my Panini of choice has become depressingly unoriginal). The only real downside to Ozzy's is that I've become utterly addicted to their cheese and tomato Panini's, and whenever out of Cardiff I tend to have withdrawal symptoms.
