"My 4 siblings and I just returned from taking our 83 year old mother on her dream trip to Italy…read more She wanted to experience Rome, Venice, Sorrento, and Capri in just a short 12 day vacation window. One would think this would be quite a challenge with these destinations being far apart, especially with the needs of an aging parent. Casa Mia Tours took this challenge head on. Gina, Eleanora and Carolyn gave so much of their time to consult with us about every detail: must see's, train itineraries and tickets, personal van transfer services, restaurants recommendations and reservations, personal tour guides, wine and food tours/tastings, ferry schedules, best spots for desserts and espresso, best walking and shopping neighborhoods, and so much more. Casa Mia Tours created a detailed itinerary for each day of our trip- from where we might want to eat to the schedule of our trains rides and van pick up to our tours for the day. Once we got to Italy, Casa Mia was available to lend a hand in any way to help make our experience as enjoyable as possible. They even helped with an unexpected trip to the ER with our mom! The personalized service from Casa Mia Tours is top notch, 5 stars, the best! Our family memories of this once-in-a-lifetime trip will be with us all forever. Thank you, Casa Mia Tours (Carolyn, Eleanora and Gina) for making this dream trip a reality for all of us, especially our mom. "

They are a one stop shop for everything including food itineraries, cooking classes, food tours and experiences. The thing I love most about this company is that they take time to listen to what you're looking for and cater to exactly what you want. I have taken 2 food tours with Gina and she is extremely knowledgeable and was able to take us to some of the best places for coffee, sweets, cheese, wine, snacks and pizza in Rome. She also booked us dinner reservations at places that are authentic and difficult to reserve. You will never find yourself at a tourist trap as long as you consult with Casa Mia. We also booked a private transfer from the Naples train station to our hotel in Sorrento with them and their driver was on time, easy to locate and extremely friendly. I took a private cooking class in Sorrento with Marcella in her home and it was the best lesson I have ever taken. I learned how to make delicious food and after the lesson, my family joined us to eat the meal we prepared in one of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen in my life. We took a private tour of the Amalfi coast and our driver took us to so many beautiful cities. He made us lunch reservations at a restaurant with the most stunning views of Amalfi that served food created with ingredients grown in their private organic garden located below the restaurant. At each stop, he provided us with recommendations of where to visit in each town. Casa Mia also provided us with recommendations of places to buy food souvenirs, find artisanal gelato, tasty street food and pizzerias in each city we have visited. Do not plan a trip to Italy without consulting with these experts. They will help make sure you have the best time in the most beautiful country in the world. If you are not planning a trip to Italy in the near future, I also highly recommend their online cooking classes. I took many of them during the lockdown in 2020 and learned how to make delicious meals for my family.

They set up the appetizers out in the hallway when you walk in. Food was tasty and natural. It's a farm to table type of set up. My sister is vegetarian and wanted something as close to natural as she could find. The place where we had dinner was in another room that had a long table for all of us to sit at like a kings dinner. It's about a 40 minute drive outside if Rome. It's like a little farm in the countryside. Very peaceful and relaxing. Was nice to get outside of the busy crowded city and away from all the tourists. Very memorable and private.

Honestly, my mother should write this review - she hasn't stopped telling me what a fairytale it…read morewas to experience 3 days of wedding festivities here, and it's been nearly two months since. That alone made me thrilled to have selected the Borgo for my wedding! This beautiful farmstay is about 30 minutes from the city (Rome). Once you arrive, you can literally feel the mayhem of the city and any concerns just melt away. It's serene, it's lush, the air is fresh and the accommodations are comfortable. The entire staff are among the most accommodating hosts I've ever met and put me at total ease when making decisions, changing plans, or dealing with unexpected issues. They were also just incredibly kind to me, my husband, and our guests. We got married at the end of December and it was still beautiful (especially the light at dusk), so I can only imagine how lush and romantic any other time of year is here. This is a charming location for a special event - they will accommodate a large or small party. The food was beyond delicious (especially because I hadn't eaten pasta, dairy, or sweets for months before arriving) and the wine was always fantastic (I think we depleted their stock;)). The farm area is set back from the buildings - about 5+ minutes walk following a path - and it was such a pleasure to greet the goats, chickens, pigs, and rabbits during a morning walk (also perfect if you have children with you). Mind you, if you're considering the Borgo as a wedding venue, it's quite reasonably priced - and it's an experience you will never forget. In fact, we would have easily spent double to host our guests back in NYC for 1/3 of the time (we were there three days). As you can tell, we're totally enchanted! In fact, our friends want to come back in a few years time to do it all again:)

This is a review of the WWOOFing experience, their wines, and their B&B business. Castello di…read morePotentino is a truly special place, nestled in a still-unspoiled Tuscan wilderness. It's a vineyard and olive estate surrounding a recently-renovated 10th century castle. As one of the proprietors is fond of saying, the castle was renovated to look like it wasn't renovated. This means that there is WiFi (in some parts), electric lights, hot water, and flushing toilets, but you won't see a sleek stainless steel light fixture or modern art sculptures or anything super 'modern chic'. The place is *gorgeously* decorated, inside and out. Each room in the castle is uniquely decorated and the place has been used for photo and film shoots. When I was there, a moderate size film crew was there shooting a Medieval period piece; there were Medieval costumes, horses(!), falcons(!!), white box trucks, and, hilariously, film crew waving frantically at you not to cross the courtyard that you were about to step into because you'd be in the camera shot, following by a distant shout in Italian to effect of, "quiet on the set, cameras rolling (or something)". Lots of fun watching that process. On one weekend during my stay, there was a large wedding party, and I was delighted to see the place transformed and decorated festively for the wedding. The castle is definitely large enough to support multiple types of gatherings. They have a small chapel, multiple outdoor spaces for banquets, and the backdrops are resplendent with vineyards, olive trees, and an unspoiled Tuscan countryside. I did an stint via WWOOF (World-wide Opportunities on Organic Farms), where I am provided food and shelter and I volunteer to help on the farm. When applying, the two owners were good about responding via email and setting general expectations. I stayed about two weeks in the late Spring and really loved the experience there. WWOOFers can number from two to eight, and they all stay in the WWOOF flat, which is basically a three-bedroom apartment in the castle with electric lights, running water, and dorm-style accommodations (2-3 per room, plenty of space). Laundry facilities and WiFi available. Hours in the fields or helping in the winemaking/bottling areas are generally seven hours a day, five days a week, with Sat/Sun off, and a little extra work setting or clearing the tables at lunch and dinner. Mathematically, this adds up to more hours than the nominal norm for WWOOFing (5-6 hours/day, 6 days per week), but it's more than made up for by having two days off instead of one per week, which I think is a good tradeoff. The food is wonderful. Charlotte and Alexander (British) have gone native in a lot of ways, including excellent Tuscan food using locally-sourced ingredients. They are very knowledgeable about the local agriculture and food. Meals are taken with the owners and any family friends that are visiting (which can be quite an fun, interesting cast of characters), and if the hotel guests are eating at the castle, nearly the entire castle eats together. It makes for very interesting conversation and a convivial atmosphere. The house wines are always drunk at every meal, as is their homegrown olive oil. The wines are very good. I brought home and shared with friends the 2011 Sacromonte (red, Sangiovese), and won high votes of confidence from my two friends who are Napa Valley natives (Napa Valley=California wine region). I enjoyed tasting all the wines as we took meals together over two weeks. I didn't stay at the B&B portion; I was in the WWOOF flat, but I did get a chance to see some of the rooms, and they vary a lot in their architecture and decor, but all gorgeously and sumptuously decorated. There are two-bedroom apartments and single rooms and stuff in between. This variance comes from being in a centuries-old castle that had been added to by different owners over the centuries. This is a small B&B operation. It's only Charlotte and Alexander, plus a resident groundskeeper and maid. Between the four of them and some WWOOFers, they grow, harvest and make thousands and thousands of bottles of wine, harvest and make olive oil, and run a B&B operation, so in American parlance, this is definitely a 'small, family-run B&B.' That is, don't expect the type of attentiveness or efficiency compared to, say, a Four Seasons Resort, but do expect that you'll have a unique and special experience in a very special place.

We came with a large group, all visitors to Italy for a wedding. He took the boys for a day of shooting (shotguns and clay pigeons). Then we got a tour of the grounds and the process of making wines. His wife made an unbelievable lunch, and it still lingers in my memory today. Course after course, we were stuffed in the true Italian way and with warmth and hospitality. Zucchini carpaccio and the cinghiale (boar) were literally to die for. And the wine was flowing, so we all had a blast. This is a small operation, family owned and run, and if you want a local experience, come here and taste wines if you are near Siena or are passing through on your way to Arezzo. Beware, they dont speak a ton of English, but they are still very happy to have you.
